  • My daughter does that. Not for weight loss, but for her own reasons. It's a bit of a pain to follow if the whole household doesn't follow it, but from what I can tell, she's getting her nutrients, including enough protein. Good luck!
  • Oh my gosh, this was me (every day!). Like the person above me said, switching up my breakfast solved it. When I ate cereal (cold or not), I was ready to eat my desk by 9:30 am. But now I eat something with more protein (and few carbs), like scrambled eggs or a veggie omelette, and I'm good till noon. Best advice EVAH!
  • My gosh, that's wonderful! You look terrific, and are very inspiring.
  • That's terrific! Have you considered Couch to 5K? You're obviously past the first segments of the program, but it is a great way to increase to over three miles in a few weeks, without making yourself miserable (like I used to do) or overdoing it with your muscles, if they're not used to running long distances. Good for…
  • I know that I'm waaaay too picky. My friends get frustrated with me that I don't find a lot of guys that attractive. But luckily, I don't mind being alone, so I'm still going to hold out for someone terrific. And I totally agree with the other person about turning the question around and asking why you are with someone. I…
  • And I thought "The Ring" was a joke when someone described the plot. But that thing was CHILLING.
  • My friends laugh at me for this, but the Ving Rhames remake of Dawn of the Dead almost made me cry, it scared me so badly. And Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch Project can scare me silly even after seeing them multiple times.
  • I love mine! I just received my new one in the mail. My original one still works, but after a year or so of being clipped to bras, the plastic was cracking, and I figured it was time to upgrade. I NEVER leave home without it. It's not just a pedometer, although it's also not a HRM. What I like is that it pretty accurately…
  • It's MUCH better than the bathroom mirror shot.
  • Haha! Weight Watchers (their old points system) used to charge two points per banana. But one point for their heavily manufactured products. One of the reasons I stopped doing WW. I also get ads on some of my sites for that whole "five foods never to eat", and there is a picture of bananas. I think they would do better…
  • Been there. I was diagnosed with a really severe cancer 3 years ago. I had to make a decision about privacy. Reasonably young, I have a ton of co-workers and friends. I decided that "monsters live in the dark", and that, for me, being a bit transparent about it was the right decision. It eliminated gossip and people making…
  • I've been single for a long time. Like you, I'm not everyone's cup of tea. Shaun of the Dead is the funniest movie EVER, and I'd rather cut off my right arm than miss an episode of The Walking Dead. But I'm no longer willing to compromise just to be with someone. Someone earlier mentioned how hanging out with couples is…
  • Wonderful! And your face looks much brighter, also. Good for you! :flowerforyou:
  • I don't feel like I'm ready to do "serious" weights yet, either, but I've seen so many people on here post results from cardio AND weights that I got some hand weights at Target. I do 10-15 reps of curls whenever I think about it during the day, leaving the weights handy. I'm doing 5 lb, but I also have 8 and 10 lb hand…
  • ^^^^^ This. I took my seriously overweight relative with me to the gym one day. Some guys a few machines down started laughing at her, and weren't subtle about it. I couldn't believe it-- I mean, she was there trying to get herself in shape-- she deserved a high five, not snickers and head-shaking. Jerks. But really, they…
  • Another possibility is self-sabotage. A tendency to revert to a "comfort zone" which is well-known and familiar, instead of moving forward into new territory, new opportunities which may not always be comfortable, etc. At least that is why I seem to do what you are describing.
  • I agree with the other poster. I cut a lot of crappy stuff out of my life. For me, I found that reducing unhealthy carbs (which were in fact the main thing that I subsisted on, I realize) has made the biggest difference. When I started my day with an English muffin, I was ready to eat my desk by 9 am. Now I start my day…
  • Good for you, Colleen!
  • I have a droid phone, so I got the RunDouble app. I really like it. I think it was about $3. It is a little chatty, maybe. After each interval it announces to my neighborhood just how slowly I'm running. ;-) "Your last interval was a 14.2 minute mile", but otherwise is really good. Good luck!
  • That's terrific! Good for you!
  • Thanks for the tip! I'll download it!
  • Good for you and your wife! You're right about not losing focus during plateaus or a day "off plan". I had one myself this weekend when I walked out of the house without my bag of veggies and protein and found myself at cub scout camp with nothing to eat but some really awful food (a well-meaning parent supplied the food,…
  • ^^^ This. Some of what you said could be symptoms of something fairly serious. Don't delay. Call first thing in the morning. You'd rather waste a co-pay and an hour of your time than ignore something serious. Good luck!
  • Oh my gosh, I LOVE Skyr! Our Wegman's grocery store carries it.
  • To be honest, I hate running. I doubt that I'll ever be one of those people who enjoys it. But it is, for me, the fastest way to burn calories and drop weight. I'm always glad I did it when I'm done, but never excited to do it beforehand. I did C25K a few years ago, and ran a bunch of races before getting pregnant, etc.…
  • That is just incredible. Good for you! You look awesome, and your face just looks happier. Congratulations!
  • Um, if you read the books, it's not a mistake. Ugh. The Governor's a bad, bad guy. Good riddance (assuming that he dies).
  • Yes, and they're really good. The show doesn't follow it too closely, though. Daryl and Merle aren't in the books at all.
  • Lori will crawl out of the murk, and bite someone. I think it will be Glenn. When he had that poignant conversation with Merle and then proposed to Maggie, he might as well have put the red Star Trek shirt on. Maggie will kill zombie Lori to make up for not doing the deed after the birth.
