^^^^^^ Both of these. I see people on here who beat themselves up because they "slip" just a little, and if I were their parent, I would probably be a little concerned. She may think you're getting too intense about it, since you are feeling guilty about eating a couple of brownies. I'm a mom. I'd probably say the same…

Well, some of that does sound worthy of concern. You said school-- can you go to your health center there, and talk to the doctor or nurse practitioner there about it? It's really something that should only be explored by a doctor or a psychologist. Good luck!

I use it, and I have had no problems, unlike the 30 DS, which killed my knee. For me, as a horrible dancer, the Wii Zumba is low impact, but super-high cardio. I sweat like crazy, and can barely talk while I'm doing it. So I'm sold on it.

No, and I sometimes consider doing it. I did consult with my family doctor, and some of what she said helped. But she also told me to cut my calories even further than 1200, which I won't do. She's a fabulous doctor, but I think I'd listen to a nutritionist/dietician with more confidence.

Hi! I tried Atkins a few times with my ex-husband. I plummeted in weight. I ate no more than 20 g carb a day, which was really, really hard for me. Because there were so few no- or low-carb foods that I enjoy, I did not limit any other area (like fat or calories), just for sanity. Each time I lost 9-11 lbs in the first two…

I saw a show about weird addictions recently where a woman lived only on kitty treats (not the actual food, but the treats, which apparently contain some "unfit for human" byproducts). Now that you mention it, she was pretty slender. (....making shopping list to include 417 bags of "Happy Kitty" salmon flavor...)

I think I wan't totally truthful (unintentionally). My rosemary did great all fall/winter/spring, but then I moved it out of my kitchen window to make room for other things (it was only about four inches away from its previous spot, but didn't get as much sun), and it just gave up the ghost about a week ago. No…

Year round, I've been pretty successful with basil (my favorite!) and rosemary. Haven't tried the others, but they sound awesome. Do you use grow lights?

My son had absolutely horrified look on his face when I told him that peanut butter is made from crushed up peanuts. "No, not 'penis'. PEANUTS!" Poor kid.

My brother has been there several times, but I have not. One thing that I remember that he said to NOT waste your time doing was the "Drive of the Seven Pools", or a name similar to that. It took forever, and was unspectacular. He said it appeared to simply be a way to funnel tourists into an area that rarely got tourists,…

GREEN PEPPER STRIPS! They are calling my name from the fridge as I type.

Good for you! :flowerforyou:

That must have been a wonderful feeling! :drinker:

I agree. I'm pretty hard to offend. Plus, I'm really envious, and it motivates me to work that much harder at it.

I may be way off on this, but a friend sent me an article a while back from the New York Times on "decision fatigue". It talked about how some of us have jobs or lives where we have to make stressful decisions all day (mine is like that), and by the end of the day, we are drained. It's why people "fall off the wagon" more…

I ALWAYS think, "Good for them!!!" That said, back when I was a twig, my obese sister in law wanted to join me at the gym (yay!!!). I took her, and was showing her how to use the machines. A couple of hard-bodied studmuffins a few machines down were obviously mocking her and laughing at her. It was awful. She had a good…

Wow--that sucks! A group of guys honked their horns like crazy as I rode my horse, and he almost threw me. Idiots.

My favorite is fresh basil leaves, feta cheese, and sliced tomatoes, with green peppers and onions. Yum!

I'm not sure I understood the exercise calorie thing-- are you saying that you "eat back your exercise calories"? If not, that may be an issue. Also, (not pointing fingers, mind you) the sleep thing may still need a bit of increase, if you can. You're young enough that your body surely needs more than 4 hrs, especially…

I was wondering this, also. Some friends of mine had a similar issue (they are divorced now). He was an ironman triathlete. He trained ALL THE TIME. Everything else fell to her, and they had young children (I know, yours are grown). If you had asked him, he would have said, "I help at home a lot! I'm a great dad!" He also…

"How Soon is Now" by the Smiths. It starts quietly with a low bass note, which gives me a few seconds to answer it before it enters into full screech mode.

Me, too! Only mine is that stupid Treasure Island game. I just dig endlessly for treasure. Pretend treasure. The people who devise those games are evil geniuses with psychology degrees. Like the Cow Clicker guys. Grr!!

I've been told many times on mfp and from other really healthy people that going over on protein is rarely a problem.

Non-scale victory.

I collect grad degrees just because I enjoy it. (sure doesn't reflect in my income! haha) I quilt for fun. And write about history.

Love it!

My kids and I sometimes make butter by shaking some cream in a tupperware. I couldn't make margarine at home without a mad scientist kit.
-
Absolutely butter. The only exception I make is the spray butter for my air popped popcorn. And I try not to think about what's in it.

"...carded weapons. We found more bodies, or pieces of them. Only the intact..." Yup. I'm reading World War Z. Right before bed.

I don't have any answers for this, but what alarms me (for you) is that a dear friend is currently going through a divorce over an issue like this. She and her husband were heavy. She's really very heavy, and is surely in the obese range. He joined a weight loss contest at work a little over a year ago, and did great. He…
