  • Ooo, excellent start to the day! Thanks!
  • The rule of thumb that I was told (and was true for me) was one year of alone-ness after splitting for each five years of the marriage. I have several divorced friends, and they agree with the number as a basic guideline, also. But I agree with a lot of the others-- whatever feels right to you.
  • That helps a lot, thank you! I suspected as much, but was not sure. And I'm totally disappointed that I couldn't slip power naps into my workout. BTW, I love my fitbit, and have felt that it's worth every penny. I feel naked if I walk out the door without it attached to me.
  • Closer to a month, cuz I'm lazy and don't always notice that they haven't been on. I assume one or two weeks could be a vacation (and often is, so I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger).
  • I absolutely love mine. I try to beat how many flights of stairs I took the day before, or how many total steps. I also love that it tracks how long I sleep. My one gripe is that the food tracking' isn't nearly as easy as with MFP. You can sync the two things, but i haven't, since the fitbit counts every little movement as…
  • That may be wise. I have a friend who is very slender right now. Not unhealthy (she looks awesome), but I wonder if she doesn't know when to stop losing. She still eats like she's dieting (very little), and makes comments like, "Oh, I can't wait to lose another ten pounds." I'm shooting for 140 myself (I'm 5'9 1/2 "),…
  • I think that ^^ is a GREAT idea! When I am under in my calories, I try to be within 100 or so of my goal. Because I think it's unhealthy to eat much less than my goal, I always add a comment like, "Under by 46 today!" or "Over by 74", so that my mfp friends don't think I'm horribly off plan one way or another (my diary is…
  • I said to a friend the other day that I was going to wait till I was at my "fighting weight" to try a dating site. She was horrified! She thinks I should do it right now. She said, "Why would you want to date a guy who might not like you because you have a little extra weight?" Well, because that guy is human. He has a few…
  • I think the advice to check with your doctor is good advice. Also, I've heard a lot of people on here say how helpful multivitamins are. But your fatigue sounds like it's impacting your life, and may warrant a visit to the doctor. Good luck!
  • That stinks! I've deleted a few who signed up, asked for friends, and then didn't seem to ever get on again. I'm not too trigger happy-- if it's a week or two of not signing on, I suspect vacation first, lack of conviction second. If it stretches beyond three weeks, then I may give them the boot. Can't imagine someone…
  • Always looking to make new friends!

  • LOVE IT!!!
  • I absolutely love mine. It seems very accurate with stairs, sleep, and intense exercise. I do find that (I think) it exaggerates how many incidental calories I burn just living my life. Maybe I do burn that many, but I don't look at them as exercise calories. The food database isn't nearly as extensive as MFP (although you…
  • I can definitely see a difference-- and in one of them, there was only 8 days difference, but a nice change in how you looked. Good job!
  • If the show follows the book series (which, so far, it hasn't very much), some cuh-RAZY stuff is coming up. Someone got me a Michonne action figure (later character) for my desk at work.
  • Biker Mike, I think you're someone to hang with when the Zombie Apocalypse goes down!
  • They fired Dale? Nooooo! Love that guy.
  • I already have the DVR set. That show is fantastic. I always had a terrible fear of zombie movies (the remake of Dawn of the Dead scared me to death) that I didn't want to watch TWD. My brothers convinced me, and now it's probably my favorite show. The story is awesome, but the characters really make the show. After each…
  • I must admit that this is why I did not sync my fitbit to MFP yet. I think the fitbit is pretty accurate a lot of the time (e.g. when I do a focused exercise or workout). But the other day I got up at 6:00 am, came downstairs, got onto fitbit, and it said that I had already burned 520 calories for the day. Even if I'm…
  • I"m no expert, so maybe some wiser people than I can chime in. But I have been told that simple carbohydrates, like those that come from sugar, are burned very quickly by our bodies, while whole grains (good carbs, I guess) are burned more slowly, keeping us full longer. I was told to, as much as is reasonable, eliminate…
  • I agree with this ^^^ person. Life is short. Will you look back and say "Damn! I shouldn't have had that meal!", or will you be glad you enjoyed a delicious meal wtih people you love? Don't overload the plate. Eat a moderate portion of what you want. You are probably totally on plan the rest of the time-- the occasional…
  • Oh, LOOSE VS LOSE!!!! That makes me sigh every time. Another one is the word "irregardless". ((shudder))
  • I live in Gettysburg, which has an enormous section of town designated as battlefield. Tourists, (which we love, don't get me wrong) drive on those roads sightseeing, which is what they are meant for. They are also a way to get from Point A to Point B for those of us who live here. They are set at 25 mph, and have a…
  • Jean-Luc Picard (Star Trek) is so hot! I love bald. :-)
  • Short, definitely. I always think guys with shaggy hair look like they are careless about their appearance, and it tends to look greasy quickly on a lot of guys.
