Personal preference is to make my own dressings and use olive oil for the fat component. Fresh zest of lemon or lime, fresh basil, thyme and oregano, sea salt, champagne vinegar or red wine vinegar, and a scant tsp of grainy mustard to help emulsify everything together. Excellent for salads and marinade for chicken, pork…

I will definitely check that out tonight at home!

I held a similar discussion with the Endocrinologist we have on board (and who is my doctor)... She mentions that the patient's current health is taken into consideration, how active they are, medications being taken, predisposed conditions being treated are all taken into account when determining "how much is really…

My first entry never indicated "force fed" so I dont know where you are getting that from... however, if you saw how my mother attempted - you would be crawling under your skin.... BLEH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with alot of what was already mentioned. Most folks with hatred towards vegetables either stems from childhood memories of really nastily-prepared vegetables, for some it could be texture issues, it could be anything really. Vegetables are so very important though - that naturally occuring fiber is needed on so…

Im sitting here with proof in the form of my most recent labs that anyone on a low-carb/Atkins approach can have excellent CHO readings. I have been without bread, rice, pasta, corn, flour due to extreme/significant medical problems. Ive been on a high protein/fat intake for almost a year now and my liver and kidneys are…

Honestly its very easy.... my husband knows I wont touch his treats because I know its not the right choice for me. But he doesnt bring things like this home all the time considering he works 12/14/16 hr days as a truck driver. You have to hit rock bottom, get good and fed up and know that once you do hit the floor, you…

My husband knows how much I love drinking water.. cant get enough.. he purchased a 64oz insulated mug for me... It sits with me at my desk at work. I have access to plenty of ice to keep it cold for almost two days straight! I usually do two of them per day at work!

In addition to this, you are only 20 days in on something you changed up. Working out requires more fuel for the body.... and you also need to give your body ample time to make the adjustments when you change something... whether it be caloric intake, intensity of workouts... etc..

Well..I can share this with this thread. One of the women that works with me (we work for a 300+ physician organization), was attending an exercise class that was held last Friday. She dropped in the middle of class. Was rushed to the hospital (thank goodness our own hospital network), and almost 3 bags of saline later,…

I would highly suggest you report them to one of the actual staff members of MFP by copy-pasting their messages... and then, in your private message box, slap them on ignore REAL fast. They arent supposed to be pulling that garbage on anyone!

Its going to have to be one of those "see what works best for you" type of things. I know some people who have their largest meal in the morning, and then taper it off from there. Others try to balance it out throughout the day...

I wholeheartedly agree.. none of my business. Its not my responsibility (nor anyone's) to inform this person of anything. Nor is it right to make an assumption that she/he is truly afflicted with anorexia. How do you know she is not recouperating from cancer? Ive had plenty of patients who just had the hardest time putting…

We have an empty nest so...based on just the food bill alone: Meats are purchased quarterly - Ill drop about $200-$250 for beef, chicken, pork, and turkey. Seafood gets purchased the day it gets shipped in and at the time I need it. I will never purchase seafood in bulk to freeze... Would rather have it as fresh as…

Any changes are often difficult at first but thats nothing new, thats part of life. I know plenty of people who were successful at doing both - many of which are my patients. If you want it bad enough, the drive alone will motivate anyone to want to grab the bull by the horns...

Saute your mushrooms, peppers, onions, gahhhhhhhhlic, herbs into the sauce, etc.... If you find your marinara sauce gets a little too thick from cooking it down, just take the fresh 'water' from the vegetables and add it to your marinara to prevent it from thickening up... No waste, extra flavor... cant beat that, right?

Had an AWESOME sale on Chicken thighs and drumstick multipacks! Only .99/lb!!!!! Lightly seasoned with sea salt, paprika, garlic, black pepper, cumin, a thin slice of onion on top that had a light coating of olive oil to help further crisp up the skin. Ribbons of Zucchini, orange bell pepper strips, gahhhhhhlic, melted…

The best way to avoid a soupy mess is to "purge" the eggplant. Slice into lasagna-style noodles, keep the skin on. Liberally coat each side with salt. Place on a rack, and then place that on top of a pan and allow it to sit overnight in the fridge. If your home is air-conditioned it can sit on your counter as well. When a…

Where you arent being more detailed nor specific enough, its hard to suggest anything... Perhaps give www.recipesource.com a view and see what you would be interested in. ?????

You basically answered your own question to be honest. Learning more about would mean you contacting the company directly. You have received alot of viable advice from people here who are obviously mirroring your hesitency. You may not have liked some of the posted replies because it wasnt based on personal experience, but…

The only time I will cook up a fresh batch of beans is over an open-flame - I wont do the crockpot-thing or over-the-stove-thing... the campfire brings so much more to the creation of a bean-based meal. My husband likes it when I incorporate some of the bacon-fat from cooking bacon, when I sautee the vegetables (corn,…

You might want to try Google to get a head start on this type of intake...

Im gonna answer with a big fat NOOOOOOOOO to both. I have never once consumed a prepackaged meal, ever. There is ALWAYS time to cook. Just like there is ALWAYS time to get exercise in. The majority of the meals made in my home are the result of bulk cooking: homemade marinara has been measured out per 4-person meals,…

Im going to offer this view on top of this quoted post: Why are you willingly allowing yourself to stress over something you are already doing? You are losing weight still. But yet you willingly get stressed over the number. You are going to cause your body to create cortisol - a stress hormone that will contribute to…

Extremely sound advice right there and I will back this up. You should be directing this to the physicians and specialists who are overseeing your care. This is definitely not the appropriate place to address this situation under the current circumstances you originally brought up in your initial post. If they had you go…
