  • You know you're at a healthy weight for your height, but you're unhappy with your body. Here's what I'd do: Eat 1500 calories/day (since you said that's all you can manage) and focus on strength training to change your body composition. Really! Focusing on cardio will not give you the changes you hope for. Do strength…
  • Yeah, I was 8 years old. Still have a lot of relatives who live there though. No, I've actually gained the 2lbs since getting "back on track". Most people tell me it's my muscles holding on to water weight, but It's been nearly 40 days now. I weigh myself every morning just so I can be used to weight fluctuations, but the…
  • Just clicked on your profile.... I used to live in Greenwood! Just for 1 year, as a kid.
  • Not sure, but something similar happened to me! Went on a 7 day cruise for my honeymoon and went balls out eating and drinking day and night, whatever I wanted. That was mid-November... we got back just before Thanksgiving, then had family in town for 4 days. Also ate and drank like crazy. Then in December, my mother was…
  • I'm not advocating eating 1200 calories a day, but they do it by eating whole foods. Chips, cake, ice cream, fried food, fast food.... you won't get much in for 1200 calories. Grilled, baked, steamed, boiled lean meats, vegetables, certain fruits.... you can load up your plate 3-5x per day and end up at 1200 calories. It's…
  • I'm with you. I'm also losing inches (slowly), but the scale has gone up a couple pounds. I am eating reduced calories though, so I highly doubt I'm gaining muscle mass. What gives? It's been 30 days today, so I don't think I'm retaining water. Besides, I have been on this regimen for 8 months (took 1.5mos off in Nov-Dec…
  • So I was just playing around with some numbers, and according to this site, there must be a 12inch min difference for hourglass, not 9 or 10 as has been mentioned (I always thought it was 8 or 9). I even entered 40-30-40 and it said it didn't recognize that shape- ha! but 38-26-38 is hourglass.
  • OP, follow MFP guidelines and tweak until it works for you. Don't try to lose too much too fast. Bottom line is, every person is different and most people on this site think they're health and fitness experts. Take suggestions and read the comments, but know that these are opinions and/or it is biased information based on…
  • As littlebutbig asked, what type of exercise? Are you weightlifting, walking, etc? Will make a difference in your calorie and macro goals.
  • Over 3 months.... just kept at it and changed up my exercise routine. My body was too used to jogging, so I changed it up with in home DVDs and gym time and also upped my calories to mainentance for about a month, then went back down. PLEASE don't give up, just change up the routine a bit! ***also, I was training for a…
  • Power 90 sculpt this morning, and 45min on the elliptical- intervals, this afternoon.
  • My MFP is set at 1200 calories, but I always eat around 1600, give or take. I exercise daily. You need to eat your exercise calories back. It's not hard to stick to, as long as you're eating whole, healthy foods.
  • My preferred drink is a vodka press. I go well (because I'm not picky with my vodka). It's just vodka with half club soda, half sprite. The sprite adds just a bit of sweetness, while not adding much in terms of calories/sugar. Red wine is another good one, as long as you don't go overboard.
  • AMAZING SUCCESS! by the way, was your dress from David's Bridal?? I found that dress (or VERY similar) online and fell in love with it.... but was too nervous to order online, as it was not avail in stores :( beautiful and congrats on your success and reaching these goals after having kids!!
  • If you want it to work correctly, you HAVE to stick with a healthy diet and exercise and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE watch your fat intake at each meal.... don't eat fast food and take an Alli pill and think that it's okay because you're blocking the fat. You will have a very embarrassing and messy awakening. If you use it the…
  • I also like to eat at night, so I normally have a smallish lunch, a snack, then keep a lot of calories available for a larger (but still healthy!) dinner and room for an evening snack. My favorite is the 100-cal bags of popcorn. I also love having an apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter, sipping on green tea, or a…
  • I'm Amy, in Pacific Beach.... sending a request! I log in here daily :)
  • You can't just lose weight, then go back to what you were doing before. That's why it's a "lifestyle change"... so you'll need to maintain eating mostly healthy foods and continue to work out for your long term health! Good luck!
  • #2! You look great in both, but as others have said, the second one is more "womanly" in my opinion, and more mature and "sexually attractive" as far as being curvy. You look healthy in #1 also, but yes, less curves = more of a "girlish" figure. This is my own opinion. Stay wherever you feel confident and at the level in…
  • I live at the beach and ride my beach cruiser every other day! It only has one gear (petal back to break) so you have to really push to go fast. Now, if you just "cruise" on it, you won't get much calorie burn.... but I petal fast down the boardwalk and stand up and push HARD to get myself up the hills around SoCal. I…
  • I typically do almost the same thing! Lunch around 11/11:30am, afternoon workout, afternoon snack, and I love feeling like I'm eating a lot for dinner. I follow MFP method though, not TDEE. I don't totally track my "bank" of calories saved, but knowing that I stay under on most days, I allow myself to have some drinks…
  • When I use the elliptical, I go for 65mins, interval program, high intensity. I am 5'8'' and 165lbs. I burn approx 700 cals in that time. Depending on your intensity (which you say is high), I think that could be accurate! and yes, your calorie burn will decrease the smaller you get :)
  • My boys (just turned 7 and 8) and husband and I all love eating healthy food. We have eggs, oatmeal or cereal for breakfast, normally sandwiches or leftovers for lunch, and grill chicken or fish and veggies almost every night- or I'll cook something healthy in the kitchen. We all go to the park and throw the football…
  • I just got married in October. Started with MFP in May 2013 (had signed up earlier but never used it) and lost about 22lbs by my wedding day. If you start now and keep that ultimate goal in mind, you CAN ACHIEVE IT! Make sure you log into MFP every day and log everything you eat or drink. Be honest and realize that the…
  • You can't make them go away, but they should fade over time
  • Just ate a Lean Cuisine for lunch! My favorite- Thai style noodles with chicken, plus Sriracha. Do whatever works for you!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone is different. I think having one each day is okay. Mine had 550mg sodium. Just watch your sodium intake throughout the day if you have any concerns. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Look at those legs and those curves! Way to go!
  • You can budget your calories over the span of the week and plan for it! Save a couple hundred cals per day, then use that night as a cheat meal/night. Eat light earlier in the day, too.
  • Someone who has upwards of 100lbs to lose could lose even 3-4lbs/week in a healthy manner. It's just recommended at 2lbs if you have a lot to lose, and 1lb if you have less to lose. I want to lose 15-20lbs and am set up to lose 1lb per week. Slow and steady wins the race!
  • Born and raised in Phoenix, also lived in Tempe and Chandler. Now I'm in Pacific Beach, San Diego :) Love both! Feel free to request me!!
