  • I have two snacks a day. After gym it's almost always an apple with peanut butter, and I always have my beloved popcorn after dinner :)
  • Tell me about it, I live in the craft beer capital of the U.S.! I am also trying to lose about 20lbs but need to find the right balance :) good luck!
  • I'm not a daily drinker, but when I do, I binge drink... drinks, shots. Normally go out for happy hour once a week and watch football on Sundays. Unfortunately, it's what's keeping me from reaching my goals, so I'm cutting back on the quantity. It's hard to do though, because my husband and I live by the beach in San Diego…
  • Low carb will help you lose some extra water weight pretty quickly, so that may be the motivation you need to keep going. I like the combination of both- I feel low calorie is easier to do if it's also low carb.
  • Drinking is also my downfall! It's normally the only thing that makes me go over my calorie allowance. My go-to is a vodka press, which is vodka, club soda and a splash of Sprite (a few extra cals is worth the added flavor) or vodka/rum and diet Coke. Coke Zero is also good. Other options are Red wine (don't full the glass…
  • Last year I lost 18lbs for my wedding (which was still 10lbs away from my ultimate goal... I had gained 30lbs in the 3 years prior) and have now gained 10lbs back this summer! So here I am, 20lbs from my goal. I've been eating junk and doing a lot of entertaining/drinking because we live in a vacation town and constantly…
  • 50mins of intervals on the elliptical
  • Oh, and we ride our bikes to the bars, so that helps negate a drink or two... :)
  • I'm not a drink-after-work girl, but I do like to go out for drinks regularly with my husband, as we both work from home and like to get out to do things besides the gym. For me while trying to lose weight, I keep drinking to 1-2x per week, but I do binge drink! Not just a couple. I drink a vodka press.... plain vodka with…
  • Stick with what works. I love music, but not when I work out.... I need something that will take my attention more, like a TV or talk show. I always listen to Howard Stern or watch Netflix. The Netflix app is awesome!!
  • 5'8'' 165 Size 10 Pretty well proportioned and toned, but would like to lose 15 more pounds of fat. That should put me at a size 6-8.
  • Keep up the good work! Slow progress is better than no progress, so it's good to hear that you don't beat yourself up by eating some extra calories here and there. Keep going!
  • Definitely matters. I'm 5'8'' and people are always surprised that I weigh more than I look, since I have a lot of lean muscle. Also, my wrist is just under 6'' so I have a small frame. My body is proportionate, but I can stand to lose 20lbs of fat.
  • Curious. It's obvious she needs to eat more, especially with the amount of running. Either OP's calorie intake/burn is wayyy off, or she should be losing weight??? How long have you been at this routine?
  • I always keep room for a snack between lunch and dinner. Normally an apple with peanut butter, protein shake, hard boiled eggs.
  • You sound like you're off to a great start! Continue starting out slow.... Cut out soda or opt for diet, cut out fried foods, if you don't know how to lift, go to the gym and at least do the elliptical/treadmill and make your goal to go longer each time, log EVERYTHING every single day, say no to dessert, or have just a…

  • I'll be 28 on May 6th. I lost 18lbs last year before I got married in October. I still want to lose about 15lbs more, sooner the better! I'm 5'8'', 165, a lot of lean muscle mass but want to shed the fat. I'm in a healthy BMI but want to lose these last few. I lived around maintenance in November (honeymoon, Thanksgiving)…
  • Put simply, MFP method assumes that you're NOT going to work out. It calculates a deficit in purely diet alone. If a person DOES happen to work out, you eat those calories back since the deficit was already in place.
  • Just move on. Guessing that is probably somewhere close (give or take) to your maintenance anyway. Just drink a lot of water to help with the extra sodium.
  • If he asked you, he already likes you the way you are! You can't lose 20lbs that quickly, but here are some tips that may help for some quick results. Eat CLEAN.... fish, chicken, or even a plant-based diet. Make sure you get enough protein though. AVOID white bread, sugar, pasta, and anything processed (canned and…
  • A drink a day is fine. I binge drink though, and sometimes go over my daily calories in drinks alone if I'm shooting fireball! I also live at the beach and we like to ride bikes around and bar hop and soak up the sun, so it's easy to go overboard and do it a few times a week. For me trying to lose weight, I have to limit…

  • Don't eat your exercise calories back since you're using the TDEE method. I believe this will get easier for you. I would try adjusting your calorie intake so you can have a healthy snack after your workout, when I assume you're extra hungry. Some good choices are a banana protein shake, an apple with turkey meat, yogurt…
  • I wouldn't eat it at every meal (would be too much sodium!) but definitely have your sandwich! If you are worried though, try finding a healthy bread option, such as Ezekiel breads.

  • Hey Sophie! My current goal is to lose 10lbs (would love it to be more, but I don't think it's attainable for me) by May 15th (going to Mexico!) and my birthday is May 6th... so I'm with ya! I'm upping my protein intake and watching my carbs, sodium and sugar. I also aim to work out 5 days/week.... I either do strength…
  • I went on a 7 day cruise in November for my honeymoon and was afraid of over-indulging and negating my efforts, but I wanted to have fun and just ate whatever I wanted! Room service breakfast, late night pizza, buffets and sit down dinners with dessert. I was so happy to find that when I came home, I hadn't gained a single…
  • That's what I do almost every day.... wake up around 9:30, then lunch around 11:30. If I'm hungry, I'll have a hard boiled egg or two, or half a pb&j. I'd just pack a snack to bring to work.
  • I'm Amy, feel free to add me. I have a few things I'd like to accomplish as well! 1) Exercise 6 days per week 2) Morning work outs at least 2x/week (NOT a morning person!) 3) Log my food and exercise on MFP every day 4) Read 30 minutes per day 5) Drink less alcohol! 7) Fast food only 1x/week 8) Limit sodium and carbs 9)…
  • My first name, X stands for my last name (Cross) and 593 were the first 3 numbers of my phone number 10 years ago.... it was easy and it stuck!
  • Sunny San Diego :) well, it's a little overcast right now, but the marine layer should burn out soon. High of 75 today... perfect!
