  • I read it, and I hated it. It's pretty offensive, and they're basically just crazy vegans. To me, their diet seems unrealistic, and they find so many things "wrong" with foods that aren't really bad for you. I thought it would help me out, but it just left me feeling discouraged.
  • More fruits and veggies? From the looks of your food diary, it seems like you're eating a lot of processed, unhealthy food. I found that even if I stay under my calorie goal, my body would rather hang onto the fat and sugar from fast food and such rather than fat from almonds and sugar from fruit. You don't have to go…
  • Well, running burns tons of calories and helps build lean muscles (or, I think it can help you bulk if you do insane inclines and stuff), so I'm sure that something's going to change! I've found running helps me lose weight, but my thighs and calves have been particularly stubborn these past few months...
  • I'm constantly FREEZING! I never knew how great an insulator fat is.
  • I could eat an entire pizza in one sitting. I'd wash it down with Diet Coke, of course, because who needs all those extra calories? ;) I'm sure I still could eat an entire pizza; I just know better now. Haha!
  • Moi! (Well, I'm 21, but I started when I was 20.) HW: 270 CW: 192 GW: 130 Height: 5'8" I need all the support I can get, and I get so much encouragement from other people my age who are on the same journey! :D Add me!
  • The first time I ever ran, I couldn't make it one lap around the track. Now (after about a month and a half) I can run (well, jog at 5.5 mph) for over an hour. It gets easier, and anyone who judges you is just looking for ways to make themselves feel better. Kudos to you for getting fit! :D
  • I'm at the exact same place! 192 and somewhat stuck, and that's after having eaten 800-1000 cals a day and exercising off over 1000 (also every day). How in the world I can have a deficit of over 1500 cals every day and still lose about a pound or two a week is beyond me (especially since I don't believe in starvation mode…
  • Mostly with clothes since I need to buy smaller ones anyway, and I feel better about it when I say it's both a reward and a necessity. ;) If I've been particularly good certain weeks or days, I'll also let myself go to Barnes and Noble and read (my favorite activity, but I think giving yourself some guilt-free hours to do…
  • You can check out my Pinterest board! (I think you can access it without having an account.) I have a ton of recipes saved on there, most of them below 250 calories. Good luck! http://pinterest.com/DeLuxe/there-is-no-sincerer-love-than-the-love-of-food/
  • Buy lots and lots of fruits and veggies! While exercise alone is usually somewhat ineffective at helping one lose weight, a healthy diet can work wonders even if you can't find time to work out (which you should anyway - a half an hour run in the morning can work wonders if you don't mind getting up a few minutes early). A…
  • Girl, we're basically the same person. ;) Good luck to you! I started out around 270 (I joined MFP about 15 pounds after, so I've lost about 70 pounds...) It feels so good! It takes a while, yes, but it's all worth it when you fit into jeans you haven't been able to wear since sixth grade. Hang in there!
  • Not that long, actually, once I learned to tell the difference between hunger and craving and once I learned ways to keep myself full! If you eat lots of fiber and protein-filled foods (like apples, bananas, or almonds), that sure helps, as does drinking lots and lots of water. Or you could go the low-cal route and find…
  • I'm in college, taking a full class load and working 20 hours a week plus extra curriculars, and I've lost 53 pounds in the last five months. Honestly, all it takes is dedication. If you want it badly enough, you'll do it. I've had to learn to get up at 7:00 so that I can jog for an hour, shower, and get to work by 9. I've…
  • I haven't done a ton of research on Truvia, but I use it all the time (well, within reason). It's sweeter than normal artificial sweetener, and I'm rather certain that what I've read has given it a positive review in comparison with Sweet N Low and those types of sweeteners. I highly recommend it. Plus, you'll only need…
  • Honestly, I don't know that it matters. Breakfast is important to give you energy for the day, but you don't want to eat all of your calories then and have to munch on celery the rest of the day. I think a well-balanced day is fine. Your metabolism doesn't shut down at night or anything, so if you don't get a chance to eat…
  • Nest - Steve Jablonsky (From the Transformers soundtrack) Epic soundtracks just really get me in a rhythm. I feel so much more powerful when I have some insane orchestra timing my steps. ;)
  • It's better than regular soda in the sense that it has a lot less sugar, yes, but diet pop is still bad for you. It contains tons of artificial sweeteners that make you feel hungry, and it just has a ton of chemicals that I can't imagine anyone wanting in his body. Literally, there's nothing good in diet coke. There have…
  • Kashi Heart to Heart! It's one of the best cereals for you. I used to live off Smart Start, but that has SO much sugar in it. Heart to Heart has just a slight amount, and it's loaded with healthy grains and vitamins. It's my favorite meal now.
  • I don't think it's bad for one day. Personally, I try and stay pretty low in net calories, and I've seen no sign of "starvation mode." I'm sure you'll be fine. :) No sense eating if you're not hungry!
  • Air-popped popcorn, carrots and celery with hummus, apples, bananas, oranges, dry cereal (Heart to Heart is great), or a chai latte (sugar free Oregon chai, unsweetened almond milk, and Truvia = pure, hardly-any-calorie deliciousness).
  • I try to burn between 500 and 700 cals, but I'll always try for more if I have time. I try and eat around 1200 cals a day, and I do not eat the exercise cals back. For the past 6 weeks, then, I've been losing about 2.5 pounds a week, so I think I'm sticking with this. :)
  • I've heard that it doesn't matter how late you eat as long as you are staying within your calorie goals and all. The main reason people shouldn't eat late at night is that they're more tempted to go over their goals, so I'd say you're good. If you want something super light but still filling, you could try air-popped…
  • Freeze it, add half of a sugar-free jello packet and truvia, if you want, and add some /real/ granola (I use Chappaqua Crunch - Simply Granola). It's amazing.
  • I would definitely pay more for healthy food! My college tries to offer healthy items, but they pay no attention to sodium or carbs or anything, and if it's low in calories to them, it must be fine. I must say I'm getting sick of salad every day, though, so I've stopped going to the cafeteria and am buying my own healthy…
