  • Yes, it's a 'please like me' also a 'please feel that I am a valuable team member' and a 'please continue to employ me so I can continue to pay my mortgage.' Sue me. :P But yes, there is constant snackage, which I suspect is not temporary in this particular environment. ^_~
  • It's like at my old job, there was no sink on our floor so instead of going alllll the way to the kitchen, the lazy souls used to go and wash their mugs in the bathroom!? And some people would leave mugs by the sink to dry... in the ladies toilet. Urgh. I wouldn't even take my mug through the door, I left it on the…
  • This was the funniest thing, they were actually higher in calories than the little fairy cakes that were being passed around that I passed up on! Banana Bread flavour's not my thing, (I really hate bananas) but I love the Apple Pie one, and the Rhubarb & Custard. As for the Cocoa ones, I would honestly prefer one of those…
  • 5) Women can wear whatever they're comfortable in to work out. So long as they're abiding by the rules of the gym/class, it's none of anyone else's concern.
  • 5'1, started at 1200, changed it to 1435 and frequently going over. Scales didn't shift a pound when I was doing 1200 but seems to be starting to shift now. There's a theory that if you drop your calories too low, you automatically burn less calories in your general activities throughout the day... I don't mean 'starvation…
  • Whole-food bars to elephant thongs in 3 easy steps. You guys have made my day. XD I meant these, for the record: http://www.naturalbalancefoods.co.uk/nakd-fruit-and-nut-bars/
  • Haha, amazing. Glad you had a good night & didn't worry about the Puritan contingent. ^_^ Well, even if it works out, 3,500 calories is one pound of weight. You can handle that, right?
  • Be prepared to be the only guy there.... but quite often there is a lone guy out there shaking his thing near the front. There was a big hairy bearded guy there regularly a class that I used to go to, and he looked like he was having a great time. And that's north of Inverness so don't worry about Scottish guys not…
  • I just have one that I got last year... a tiny black star, about half an inch across, on the top of my shoulder. It's so tiny the tattooist's assistant apologised for the fee, as it starts from a basic level. My mum started freaking out the first time she saw it, then my dad looked and said 'Is that it?!' But I love it ^_^…
  • I'm inclined to say just go as if it's a normal day until you go out and then just enjoy yourself. I mean, seriously, if you've had a few you're more likely to indulge in any snacks that are on the go as well as the booze. Just chill out about it and start again tomorrow. Also, I'm 5'1 and seriously, being small doesn't…
  • There are entire Tumblrs dedicated to things that Daily Fail says will give you cancer. They are both extensive and contradictory.
  • 1+1=2 1.3+1.4=2.7 Rounding to nearest whole number, 1+1=3 Slice of bread (120) + slice of bread (120) = sandwich (240) Slice of bread (with spread) + slice of bread (with turkey) = sandwich (more than 240) Sandwich algebra. Sangebra. (I'm sorry. It's 4am)
  • I was going to put that myself! Everything still seems to be saying 'filming end of 2014' but the kids in it are only going to be getting older... I'd hate to see it go as it is though.
  • How the hell did this thread get to page 7 before anybody pulled out Farscape?! Invasion Believe Sirens Jake 2.0 Harper's Island (only set up for a single series, but I loved it) I'm sure there's British ones I can think of than Sirens (which I loved but admittedly it was a bit crap... plus it's just weird now seeing Robb…
  • Hot shower and a camomile tea later, I've had a complete fridge-logic moment. I complained about having to use heavier weights during the class. I then complained about arm/shoulder fatigue while using the machines afterwards. Apparently, I'm not Sherlock today. *eyeroll* Right, if anyone is looking for me, I'll be on eBay…
  • Hahahahah, I once switched to nuts instead of Skittles during a stressful period at work. I put on 3lbs in a week. XD
  • I'm really curious; how did you get it measured? Being small can be a nightmare that way... people don't quite realise how much of an effect 'normal' portion sizes seem. I agree that your nutrition could be better though... I see two, possibly three fruit/veg servings and very little protein. I like to start the day with…
  • Hahah, that's brilliant! Long may it continue ^_~

  • Hiya! I'm 29, 5'1, 152 and 41-31.5-40 currently. Pretty similar to you, I think. Do you have a weight in mind or more of a size? I've got 135-ish in my head as that's where I've been happiest in the past but I don't like to fixate on the scale. Happy to just try and get fit and see how it goes :)

  • I appreciate the 'just say no' thoughts, but sometimes it's really not quite as easy as that.... lol... Early on in the job, I refused offers of icecream from and treats from the bakery a couple of doors down, and I did get the impression that a couple of people were offended... 'You know I'm offering to buy it for you,…
  • I love that. The expression the artist has given her is wonderful.
  • I've lost nearly 4 inches from my waist in about 7 weeks, and lost all of two pounds on the scales... that's a combination of weight training (mostly machines as I only have access to the community gym with a tiny freeweights section) and Zumba for cardio - as well as a few other fitness classes, mostly of the Les Mills…
  • I measure maybe 50% of my meals... I have a tendency to under-estimate fruit & veg and over-estimate carby things like rice and pasta. Oh, and cheese, I've started to always measure my cheese because if not I'll be doubling the amount ^_^ But I'm a big fan of the 'hm, what's in the fridge, let's just throw this together,…
  • You're searching for your great-grandfather's grave (in the wrong district). You're stopped on the bridge taking photos and grumphing when people actually try and walk past. You're wearing a kilt that stops above the knee with no sporran. And sandals. You pronounce the capital city 'Eeedinbowrow' You embarrass yourself…
  • Sunday, because I take measurements too and don't want to be doing it while in a hurry.
  • Another thing is to pick a routine or an exercise that, even if you initially hate it or whatever, it's something you can actually mark your progress at. For example, I started doing this routine here: http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/body-weight-exercises First time I did it, I couldn't even make full reps of half…
  • I read an interesting book recently that quoted a scientific study that found that women in particular are exceptionally good at 'making up' the extra calories burned by exercise even if they *believe* they're making absolutely no changes to their eating habits before exercising. I can't remember the name, it's The First…
  • 5'1, 152lbs at the moment. My ideal weight is about 130-135 so I'm looking to lose 20lbs.... kinda funny that that's the starting weight for some of you guys but I'm more of a hobbit than a pixie ^_^ Thinner than that doesn't look good on me. It's kind of annoying trying to deal with larger portion sizes and such in…
  • Oh, you don't need to 'plug' the numbers in, just take your waist measurement (narrowest point) and divide it by your hip measurement (widest point). But if you want to look at a screen, I use this one http://www.virginactive.co.uk/active-matters/tools/waist-hip-ratio
  • My waist-hip ratio today is 0.79..... it's finally dropped below 0.8, so according to the powers that be, I should be less at risk of heart disease (and also sexier) ^_^ Far as I'm concerned, it's proof that I'm losing my tummy (and also sexier) ^_~
