I would think until it leaves your system, which hinges on a dozen different factors nobody can predict for you, whatever hindrance it poses to your goals will remain regardless of how much or how hard you exercise in the aftermath. As far as I know, alcohol - even when the ethanol is oxidised into acetate - is not usable…

I'm from Wales, UK (one of the fattest countries for kids, apparently! yay!) and I didn't really snack as a child. My sister did, though, and we both still ended up overweight. Ironically I ended up more overweight, but she ended up with a very unhealthy sweet tooth. I'm not from a rural place, though, and walking through…

I like a couple of grilled sausages, left to cool, drizzled with a honey mustard dressing with some sliced baby tomatoes, a bunch of salad leaves, all rolled up in a flatbread. Also works really well with chicken, or you could leave the honey mustard out and spread some home-made hummus over the flatbread.

Apricot muffins, a good slathering of jam or butter. Good to go. 170g dried apricots, chopped 170g your favourite unsweetened muesli 250g self-raising flour 1 tsp baking powder 250ml unsweetened apple juice 3 tbsp oil (coconut oil is great) 100ml honey 1 large egg Preheat your oven to 190°C/375°F/gas mark 5 and line a…

I've heard that a lot of Tough Mudders are being overbooked due to raging popularity, and so a lot of the obstacles have tons of people queuing at them giving you time for a pretty big breather. Just something to think about.

Skin-fold callipers cost a few pounds (or bucks) and they're far more accurate. You won't be able to do it yourself, but if you have a partner, friend, or relative, who is willing to pinch some skin you're on easy street. http://www.linear-software.com/online.html Use this, take measurements how it says here;…

The nerd in me loves this thread. How many inches have you lost with your 10lb loss? I imagine it would be about the same again, but it'd be hard to know where the weight will come off in 10-20lbs. You could have a smaller bust with the same waist/hip measurement or vice versa. And I imagine with some elasticated…

I'm trying not to pitch in with this again, but this thread keeps popping up in my topics. OP, the simple answer to all of your problems is to plan your meals in advance. Most of us do this. It isn't obsessive, just log your recipes as you make them using the app and barcode scanner (or use the generic listed items in the…

Reassurance that exercise raises your core temperature. When it's cold in the morning I go out jogging in a hoodie and after about 10 minutes it's always too hot to keep the hoodie on. Getting started is hard, but it's a mental strength thing.

Ah. Perhaps my understanding of psychopathy is tainted by what you read in fiction and see on TV, and less structured around the DSM, haha. Although, thinking about it now, craving adoration and approval probably ties in with the egoism and depression associated with psychopathy. What makes you think any of those boys are…

Oh I hated reading that link about the baby possum. I had to kill a snake once and I still feel sick thinking about it. I don't know how someone can deliberately scare, harm or kill an animal and not feel in the slightest bit uneasy about it. I've even seen a dog kill a kitten before, and that makes my gut wrench to this…

The weight gain is likely due to this "problem" and not much else. I would think if you've jumped from a lower amount of fibre to a higher amount quickly, it would have this effect. Wait for the MiraLAX to take effect and then go to your original number, gradually increasing it.

Well the guys on the Biggest Loser usually look awful by the end of it  I mean, slimmer, but just a smaller version of what they once were. And I know VLCDs are safe for the very obese for short periods of time, but I don't think the OP is very obese.

Possibly. I would aim for more like 5-6 months, to be wholly honest. Weight & fat loss is not linear and only with a strict diet & workout plan can you achieve around 1% loss per MONTH, allowing time for "refeeds" or breaks. You may find that running 6mi per week will hinder your progress... perhaps not now, at a higher…

I don't get the confusion here. Unless I have this totally wrong, you have to net more than your BMR. Net = total calories (gross intake) - exercise calories. If your BMR is 1500kcal, and you're taking in 2000kcal, exercising off 1000 to net 1000 (however unlikely that is to be accurate), you are below your BMR. It's the…

I'm in the UK, too. This is my bare-minimum home weight room. Barbell & 140kg of plates, a set of bodylastics and a small set of vinyl dumbbells for shoulder prehab (lovely clicking in the shoulder joint - not necessary to own), flat bench, squat rack with pull-up bar, a couple of mats and a foam roller. This room is…

I see nothing in your diary for the past few days, are you not logging? Are you expecting to drop 1lb of actual weight overnight? Kinda hard to assess what's up when you're a bit vague, a "refeed" or "break" period usually kicks weight loss into gear.

Depends on how you've measured your body fat. Calliper method, yes, because one of the skin-fold sites is in the "pec" area. BodPod method, yes. Scales, no, it's probably wildly inaccurate anyway. It won't make a huge percentage difference, maybe 1-3% Lose 1lb a week. A percentage of that would be lean mass, a percentage…

I think it depends what the flavouring is. I would go without the sachet and just log it as-is calorie-wise, anyway, mostly because the flavouring sachets have MSG in them and the noodles themselves taste better with some sweet chilli sauce or some low-sodium soy sauce.

Pineapple jerk pork ribs, sweet potato wedges, avocado & Greek yoghurt mush.

I hate all these comments deriding a whole nation of people based on the actions of a few people. On the article page, that is. We all have terrible people in our countries, and a good many decent, innocent people die horrible, violent, random deaths all the time. It doesn't mean your entire country - even the entire world…

Agreed. I'm slightly taller at 5'4, but I started out at over 250lbs, and I've lost over 100lbs (before putting more weight back on in the process of "recomposing" my body) with zero supplements to help me feel like I can do it. I eat well, I exercise, I get out into the sunshine and have some fun. In my opinion you…

Well, that's the point. "Essential" fat is nigh-on too low. Most women find a comfortable or adequate level of leanness at around 15-20% If you're almost sure your bodyfat percentage is around the low 20s (I would get some callipers and have someone perform some skin-fold measurements to be more sure, personally) and…

I have a feeling you misunderstood what I wrote, yes MFP has an activity factor multiplier, on the goals page where it "does the work for you" it asks you if you're sedentary, active, etc. etc. which will give you your TEE. The dedicated exercise that you undertake is extra to your TEE (on MFP). This is why it doesn't…
-
What IS your bodyfat percentage? The article is telling you that your body wants to store fat. There's a "fat buffer" everybody has to remain healthy, known as essential fat. Technically your body would be comfortable at any point over this number. Essential fat for women is around 12%, for men it's about 3%.
-
If you're using a calorie formula you're working out your BMR. You'll have an activity factor (from 1.2 for very inactive to 1.9 for very, very active) you need to multiply your BMR by, to get your total energy expenditure for the day (TEE or TDEE). Then you take 10-20% of your TEE and subtract it from itself to get a good…

But why would you eat, for example, 12 whole-wheat crackers with nut butter and chocolate chips for 600kcal if you can have a more satiating, balanced meal for - probably - fewer calories? If it's for the sake of health, that's misguided, especially after consuming a 20oz "double double" Tim Horton coffee in the morning or…
-
Are you hungry? Is it certain food you think about, or just in general? I had a peek at your diary and some days you've "eaten back" exercise calories, at least one day you went way over, some days you were way under what is already a pretty low calorie goal. You seem to be a healthy weight, not knowing your height. Think…

You're welcome. You also don't have to tell your GP about your eating disorder, but if you pop in for a general check-up while you're in there it's a good idea to let him or her know so they can be pretty comprehensive and give you a clean bill of health before you start changing your diet and getting into different types…

This x 100. 123lbs is a very healthy weight, if you're unhappy with your body still, instead of trying to lose weight I would suggest eating at a slight calorie surplus and take up some resistance training after speaking with your GP. Just as an aside you can make an appointment with your GP and ask for him or her to refer…
