ok - will do.

what you say must be true if of course it truly works for you

Yes I quite agree with what your getting at - you have to eat above BMR net to take in to account your day which you can adjust depending on the appropriatr deficit you require but likewise TDEE summariises your activity and doesn't accurately describe exercise activity - for example on some days my exercise is 180 another…

That makes sense.

understood. Thanks

] How can you not be concerned about the net? Out of interest - if you eat around 2200 calories and you exercise you go lower than your BMR - how is it you still lose weight? When I ate 1200-1500 calories I was eating less than my BMR and exercising so it was even lower than I thought and I was not losing. So now with…

Am a vegan and believe in 80:10:10 rations for macros so cutting down grains is hard - I have solved my problem now in not understanding why I needed to eat more to lose!

30 pounds overweight.
I wouldn't rush to eat calorie dense foods like cheese or nuts. You're not that desperate for calories. Both cheese and nuts specifically make me nervous because I have the tendency to overeat them. I can eat half a jar of peanuts in a sitting.
I agree - I don't think cheese is a very good food item and…

Good Post - coincidentally I have the book - will have to dig it up. I like strategy eat your BMR and exercise hard with slight leaway on the weekend or just Saturday. I only have about 14 pounds to hit what I think will be my ideal weight - Hope to be there soon. Hope the scale will go down after I am expecting it to go…

Good idea.

As long as I clear my BMR I should be fine it sounds like.

That's good to hear - don't get me wrong I can eat - it just doesn't feel like a weight loss strategy but I am understanding the numbers and what needs to be done. I can plan better next time for sure. Thanks
-
That sounds good and reasonable - I will check out your link on exercise as I am becoming more and more active and loving it - especially this summer. Thanks

I have just been reading this posts and am beginning to realise what many have posters have been trying to say during this topic!
-
Gotcha - understand could do with eating much more!
-
thanks for that info - i was going to consider high rep low weight but think the 5 rep heavy weight might be better! How often ? I would to train every day - not for a long time though. At the moment I am training to press 100 press ups in one go - just for the hell of it! Thats all the resistance training I am doing at…

thanks - regarding weights - I and do not want to lift heavy weight and change my shape as such but I do have them and lifted weights in the past. I was thinking of lower weights but higher reps - what do you do when you say lift weights?
-
when I say I look and feel better - I mean since I have decided to lose some pounds to reach an ideal target weight of 182 pounds. I am eating within what I thought was a good weight loss target calorie limit for the day and I am so much more active on an daily basis than I have been. However I have all your suggestions to…

white rice is a function of my finances at the moment but I do have brown rice too - I eat beans or lentils or pulse all the time - I always log them as 'curried chick peas' for ease. But every dinner meal contains a pulse, vegetables and a carb. Normally I would eat a lot more fruit and veg and raw with it. I am…
-
agreed - will use 1 pound a week as my goal and eat more - sounds very counter intuitive in that I am getting used to eating around 1500 calories so to eat more will not be hard to do
-
many thanks
-
Ok - so with me wanting 2 lbs a week weight loss and therefore MFP setting my target at 1280 calories why are people suggesting I eat so much more was my question and what you alluded to in your last post. I never realised that I was to eat my colories I exercised away - although i have always seemed to eat most of them…
-
makes sense - I think I must try and get more accurate with my reporting. Thanks for this - I think your understand what I am saying and trying to do.
-
it gives 1290 for 2 pounds fat loss per week and goes to 1700 for 1 pound! I am not arguing with anyone just asking why it sets that figure which I have been keeping to religiously!
-
thats fair enough - I will do that.
-
I see that MFP has suggested my rather low sounding target calories - this is because I put in 2 pounds of fat loss per week. Even if I set it to 1 pound loss per week it suggests lower target calories than has been suggested here so far. How does anyone justify or explain eating higher than the 1290 calories suggested by…

You say my carbs are insanely high ! what is the correct amount of carbs I should be taking in your opinion?
-
I am quite poor at the moment so the meals are pretty basic- I eat a variety of pulse I just say chick peas cos its all similar and I looked that meal up and just copy it over. I always have salad or vegetables!
