  • Do you have a heart rate monitor? Maybe you could spend a few days at work tracking exactly how much exercise you do and how many calories you burn. That way you'll have a personal average instead of one that MFP came up with, and you can set your activity level according to that... Good luck! The plateaus are definitely…
  • Or the Roasted Pear Spring Salad with a side of edamame! And just get limes to squeeze on top for your dressing.
  • I was just looking at the menu, and there really aren't many healthy choices, are there? What if you get the veggie plate with a double portion of broccoli, carrots, green beans, and a salad. There isn't much protein in there, but you can make up for it with your other meals.
  • I hovered around the last 2-3 lbs for months, and then I added more strength training to my workouts, and more interval training, and that definitely pushed me to the end. Good luck, and feel free to add me if you'd like support!
  • "You're growing up, and rain sort or remains on the branches of a tree that will someday rule the earth. That's good that there is rain. It clears the months of our sorry rainbow expressions, and it clears the streets of the silent armies... so we can dance." Jim Carroll
  • From looking at your diary, I would say pay more attention to what goes in, not just calories but also fat, carbs, sugars, etc and continue working out. It took 2 months for me to lose my first pound! And my 19 lbs have come off VERY slowly (especially compared to other people on here) but they came off, AND now I've…
  • I made some delicata squash yesterday and they turned out really yummy and low cal. I halved the squash, baked them covered for about 20 minutes, then added the following mixture: shredded chicken blue cheese chopped cauliflower celery raisins salt and pepper I would definitely recommend it. A serving, with my quantities,…
  • Your university should have resources for recent grads. Definitely take advantage of those! They can help you with your resume, find openings you are qualified for, and have lots of contacts. Also, if you were in a sorority or other social/philanthropic group, call anyone and everyone up telling them you are looking for a…
  • I agree with the exercise! When my ex-boyfriend and I broke up, every time I wanted to eat everything in sight, I would get on the treadmill with my iPod and sing and run. Half the time I would end up crying in the middle of my workout, but I always felt better at the end. Hang in there! Hugs!
  • Great article. Thanks!
  • When I bought the bike I spent time with a tech fitting it specifically for me, so I'm not sure that's it. I really think it has to do with riding posture and the muscles in your arms that help you support yourself. For others though, it could definitely be the size or the seat/handlebar adjustments. I'm interested to hear…
  • My fingers used to fall asleep a lot. I noticed that when I started doing strength training in my arms it got better, which makes sense considering a lot of your body weight goes on your wrists and to the handlebars.
  • I did a couple of months ago, but I did it kind of by force, and then decided to keep up with it. I went on a month long trip to Peru, and didn't drink my normal two cups in the morning like I usually did, but I drank a lot more tea during the day. When I got back to the States I decided not to make my morning cup, and now…
  • Exercise! So you can eat more! That's the only way I have survived. :)
  • Awesome! I'm so glad you stuck through it and had a great time! The first spinning class I took was is Cusco, Peru, 3400 meters above sea level. I joined a gym, and same as you, I was curious and decided to go to a class one day. The first class coupled with the altitude just about killed me, but I had a blast and kept…
  • Since you are back at school full time, your tuition should pay for your campus gym. You might already be "paying" a gym fee and not know it... it's worth checking out!
  • Well said. And props to the original poster for wanting to adopt! I have a rescued Boston terrier/border collie mix, and she's a great dog. When we got her she hid under the table, and for years she was scared of men and brooms, but since then she has learned to smile and play with toys, and now she's pretty much the best…
  • My mom recounted an incident to me the other day that really got me thinking. She said that one day we were driving around together and it was raining cats and dogs, and we both saw a girl running on the sidewalk. In her head she thought, "Man, that girl is crazy," but I said out loud, "Wow, talk about motivation." She…
  • It depends on the exercise... Biking is usually accurate within 10 calories (for me), but walking and running I burn more than what MFP says. Swimming I burn less.
  • It depends on which one. Do some research before you meet with your doctor, and ask you doctor to give you one that doesn't have weight gain as a side effect. For example, the Nuvaring does not. But find the one that's right for you.
  • Adopt! There are far too many beautiful great dogs in the shelter or in foster homes that need permanent homes!!! I have a boston terrior mix that is a rescue and she is the best dog I've ever had.
  • Ditto to the garlic and olive oil... and if you cook the pork it will make it's own "sauce", at least moreso than the chicken. Sounds like a good dinner!
  • Yes, like the others say, start SLOW. You'll want to go fast, but then you'll run out of steam by the end if you follow others' paces.
  • Strange, I don't seem to have any problems. Maybe try a different browser?

  • I say drink hard alcohol with low-calorie mixers (or none at all), and have a glass of water in between each one. Don't go out with the mentality to "get smashed", just have fun with your friends, and don't give in to the late night fast food run.
  • Sounds like your body is telling you to take breaks and eat breakfast before you work out! (even if it's just a hard-boiled egg and/or an apple on the way to the gym)
  • Look at it this way - at least you don't have to buy new bras yet! But they will shrink. Mine did, but only once I got really close to my goal weight.
  • Work out clothes! Or a new haircut? Or a massage?
