Congrats! Nicely done! I always found I was sooo hungry after working out - water and a low calorie snack with carbs and protein always helped me. I like trail mix. Good luck to you!

First, congratulations on your weight loss already! 33 lbs is a great achievement! In the end, you are the one who is living in your body. The most important thing is for you to be happy and healthy. My mom still gives me advice on what my goal weight should be, and it's always too low for my body type, so I feel your…

Welcome to MFP! It's a great, very supportive community. Feel free to add me as a friend! Good luck!

Good for you! I can tell you love your family a lot! With that motivation, you'll do great. Welcome!

Absolutely get a bike if you enjoy biking! I got one a month or so ago and LOVE riding to do my errands. Do your research first though if you want to do any kind of serious riding in the future. A poorly made bike will cause you more frustration and cost more money than it's worth if you're going to ride long distances or…

Protein shakes. One Muscle milk shake keeps me full so much longer than a SlimFast shake. If you like, there are an infinite number of ways to make your own shakes or gourmet style hot drinks with protein powders, flavored syrups, and a little creativity. A (vanilla flavored) protein caramel macchiato is shockingly…

Thanks everyone so much for the ideas! That is so helpful, and so encouraging to know that this can be done with the schedule I'm on. It seems like half the staff on our floor are on a diet at any given time. We all struggle with this. I can see I'm definitely going to have to do more planning ahead, because it sounds like…

It sounds like such a frustrating day for you! I'm sure you will get where you need to be, but diabetes is really tough. I don't have it personally, but it runs in the family. Isn't it a good thing if you have to keep adjusting your insulin doses down, though? That would mean your sugars are more under control and you need…

What a great way to put things in perspective! Cheers to you :-)

I work in a hospital where tracking fluid intake and output is a daily requirement, so I'm going with the slightly personal but very observable answer that we use as a rough guideline - if your pee is light-yellow, you're fine. If it's dark, then you need to drink more fluid. Iced tea is probably fine if you're drinking…

ooh, didn't see sryan's idea before I posted... like that much better!

I have the same problem - this site doesn't seem built for people whose routines vary a lot! I'm new so haven't worked it out fully, but I put myself as lightly active and will try to stay 100+ cal under goal on "off days" so that I have an allowance for days that I work.

Welcome and good luck! Unfortunately I can't help with stories and training yet - I just started myself and am still figuring them out - but if you ever want to compare notes, message me! I'm thinking after a response to one of my earlier posts that I may just track every single thing for a week before trying to change…

I'm brand new at this, so I'm hoping the diary will REALLY help me target my problems. But any general advice is appreciated! Well, I'm not consistent, which is probably part of the problem now that you ask. Breakfast at 6 am is tiny, coffee and some kind of toast (or a pastry if I'm in a hurry, which I usually am). 4 pm…

Hi Jennifer! I'm Kate. I also just joined MFP. Determination is key, I think. It seems like everybody here is great with that... I'm hoping for inspiration on days that aren't inspiring. Good luck to you!

Good luck! You can do it - it sounds like you have really healthy goals and outlook
