  • Tookland reached! - 1.78 mi today
  • Recently went back to a deficit after maintaining / not logging for a while. I don't see much difference yet, but saw a friend today who exclaimed "You look great! You're wearing makeup today? Or something? What did you do different?" (I was wearing exactly the same minimal makeup I wear everyday). So clearly something…
  • I have had to travel a lot recently and was sifting through old threads looking for advice. This one had a lot of good stuff (can't offer any advice of my own as I'm still figuring it out!). Hope this is helpful http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10044632/losing-weight-on-the-road/p1
  • Hi! I started this app today and a friend kindly pointed me to this thread. I'm excited to find a group all doing this! May I invite myself in? 3.62 miles today, 1.38 remaining to Tookland
  • Next mini scale milestone: just over 2 lbs away!
  • Haha i actually just tried the Notes app on my phone today and was surprisingly happy with it. Might be different if I ever decide I want to be able to chart trends, but I think for now that might be what I stay with
  • I was thinking track as in the workout itself - exercises, sets, reps - when I wrote this, but actually both are good questions Thanks all! That’s really helpful
  • Welcome! feel free to add me
  • I'll clarify the part on eating at a friend's house or potluck (correct me if I'm taking it in a different direction than you meant @GoRun2 ). What are gracious ways to handle unhealthy foods when someone has been generous enough to invite you into their home and cook for you?
  • Love this thread! Today I am grateful for: -a day off work -good hot tea -lovely fall weather, just starting to get chilly -friends coming over tonight!
  • You can add me! - open diary, but so you know in advance, I'm gradually transitioning which means many days are vegan but if my roommates make meat lasagna, I'll still eat it. There's also a Happy Herbivores group with a similar friends thread if you want
  • So I finally bought a copy of Vegan with a Vengeance. @janejellyroll, thank you so much for the suggestion! I am so excited. It's vegan cooking for people who actually like to cook and eat delicious food - and I can make the recipes for my roommates without getting complaints or eye rolls! The pad thai was a particular hit…
  • Successfully meal plan (and then stick to it) for just one 24 hour shift. Might take a couple times experimenting, but I have plenty scheduled for this month, so lots of time to experiment... wamp wamp :-/
  • Thank you all <3 <3. Too many great suggestions to call out individually, but I truly appreciate all of them. Getting ready to go out for another day of shopping and I'll plan to stop into several of these places.
  • Haha @seltzermint555 I was thinking at one point today that buying a swimsuit might actually be less stressful! Thank you all so much for the tips. And yes as everyone figured out pretty quickly, I'm female (should have specified). Probably should also have said I'm in the US, but I think everyone's ideas are stores I can…
  • Tough week out of my normal routine - I want to make it to the end without gaining!
  • Thanks for the suggestions! Has anybody tried the America's Test Kitchen "Vegan for Everybody" cookbook?
  • Slightly off topic, but I just discovered a group called "Heal Thyself" for healthcare professionals, and remembered back to reading this thread. The group looks sort of defunct now but could potentially be a great forum to continue conversations like this, if people are interested. FWIW.
  • Love reading these! Mine is oatmeal with a good handful of raisins for sweetness and a cup of coffee. Or when I'm running late, just a banana lol @verkamartin, oatmeal is a whole grain, so yes, it's pretty much all carbs. It's a complex, unrefined starch, so it's much friendlier to your body and your blood sugar than…
  • Love it! Sounds like you have a great, supportive group of friends. Best of luck to you!
  • Oh lord, the chili spiced dried mangoes. Every couple of times I stop at TJ's, I convince myself I'll portion them out in individual bags and eat them over a week or two. Every time, they are gone by that evening. They are so. flipping. good. Wine Those crisp little lemon wafer cookies Brown basmati rice Potstickers
  • Fantastic! I've looked at thug kitchen a couple times but I haven't loved the writing style (don't care about the cursing; I'm quite often cursing like a sailor irl. But I kind of want a cookbook to be just a cookbook). I may have to give it a try after all; I keep hearing such good things about it. @estherdragonbat I…
  • 12 Months of Monastery Soups is probably my most used cookbook! So many wonderful soups. A few incredibly rich treats but most are quite healthy, nourishing, and filling. If you really like soups and find them helpful for your weight loss (I certainly do) you might consider investing in it
  • These sound great! Myself, I started with Oh She Glows. While I like it ok, I haven't completely jumped onto the whole foods bandwagon. I've really been wanting more foods that I can prepare for non vegan roommates and, in a couple months during the holidays, family. And that is decidedly not most of oh she glows lol. I've…
  • Haha I love seeing how different people's tastes are! I could eat oatmeal, beets and sweet potatoes every day! Kale is ok if somebody else goes to the trouble of putting it in a nice salad and making all the flavors work, but I won't buy it or cook with it on my own. Chia pudding though - did not like that one bit. Not…
  • Another MFP user recently pointed me to cashew milk and I'm loving it! Nice and mild and creamy. I've only found it in a couple stores nearby, though, but try it if you see it!
  • Hi! I'm transitioning to vegan (slowly; I've been mostly vegetarian for years) and I have an open diary. So far my "staples" are oatmeal for breakfast. Still figuring the rest of it out. Feel fee to add me!
  • These are currently my favorite thing. I don't bother with the sunflower cream. It makes a massive amount but freezes beautifully. I freeze it in individual containers and it reheats very fast. If you're cutting down on lactose, slicing an avocado up over the top gives you some of the richness of cheese or sour cream...…
  • From someone who used to work in an ICU ... I feel your pain. Though thank goodness, I never had to do 24's. Hit the 'low hanging fruit' first. Finding the easiest possible thing to eat in the car in the morning was key for me. I did NOT care enough at 5 am to get up even a minute earlier than I had to, breakfast be…
