  • This has happened to me all my life -- it was discouraging initially, but over the years I have realized it's normal. I never put together that it was water retention for muscle repair, but that makes sense. Glad I found this thread! Keep up what you're doing. Those muscles you're building will burn more calories while…
  • YES, I had the same issue. Normal person with a normal life, and while I love healthy food, I love food in general too much. ;) Portion control is an issue for me. I do yoga, but don't always have time for power yoga. Recently moved out to the middle of nowhere and we have a "mini-farm", so I do a lot of walking through…
  • I just came across this, from Fitness Magazine, recently. Great recipes! http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/recipes/drinks/wine/low-calorie-cocktails/?sssdmh=dm17.594769&esrc=nwfitdailytip050512&email=1343081650 Also, now that it is hot outside (I'm living in Arizona), I will take 4 oz red wine (zin preferably) and add some…
  • I used to be that way - I practice yoga now, so I get plenty of stretching, but even with that, there are some muscles that yoga does not get. It is never a big deal until you hurt yourself, and the older you are, the more likely that is to happen. I turned 40 last year and tore a calf muscle, doing nothing unusual.…
  • Again - you are missing these foods because of some other issue. Otherwise, a couple of peeps or two slices of pizza or whatever would BE enough, do you see? Don't give up. You can do this, and you can feel good inside and out, and live a happy healthy life, I promise. (Can you tell I am a mom?? ;) )
  • Sweetheart, you need to see a counselor. Your body is healthy now, and your mind needs to be healthy7 as well. "I don't have that kind of family" speaks volumes. I have suffered from depression my entire life, as has my son, who is now 22. He lost over 80 lbs to join the Air Force, and I know that his losing weight did NOT…
  • I'm pretty sure this is what everyone means when they say a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat. Simmer down. lol!
  • This is what has always happened to me, which is why I did NOT like Weight Watchers ... I don't want a sad face when I log in my weight, thanks very much!! Strength training is what shrinks the fat. Muscle is heavy. Keep that in mind. It's a good thing to see a little gain when starting strength!
  • I just want to say how nice it is to see people here shooting down the negative nellies, and being encouraging and kind. I did WW years ago, and while I lost about 12 lbs, their message boards and groups were HORRIBLE! People were so mean to one another - they were all very cliquey. The support here is awesome to see.…
  • Feel free to add me, too - I just started 5 days ago, and have only one friend myself. ;) Welcome! :drinker: I got on the scale for the first time in a year at the gym a week ago. I have put on 20 lbs and needed to lose 10 to be where I wanted to be in the first place. It was unpleasant, but I am glad that I did it, so…
