A guy I used to work with and had kind of a competitive relationship with saw me out in town several months after I'd left the job. I was walking into a store with my girlfriend (who was far fitter than I), and he was coming up on the entry way and we made eye contact and he said, "Whoa, what the hell happened to you?!"…

DVD and the open road. I had gym memberships for years. I get tired of all the people, first of all--machines and weights in constant use so that a routine that ought to take 30 minutes to complete winds up being an hour. Second, the machines--even if there was a treadmill open every time I wanted it, they 1) break down,…

Hey dude. Nobody cares. This is a fitness social networking site. Go complain on Facebook or in a football chat forum.

Don't rush it. I've heard that you lose about one inch of your waist for every 10 lbs. lost. I've lost 25 pounds so far and I've gone from a size 38 to a size 36. And it really wasn't until around 15 lbs that I started noticing it. Your body shape will take time to change. Keep working. Don't expect those jeans to fit for…

Dude, I can't wait to take a photo like this in three or four months! Nice work, bro!

Optimism and pessimism are two sides of the same false coin. One has to strike a balance that says that obstacles ARE going to show up BUT they can be overcome. Optimists in my experience tend to trick their minds into the "positive" attitude that the obstacles aren't even there, and pessimists see nothing but obstacles.…

It depends on how close you are with the friend. Only the very closest of my friends would I tell them, honestly, sincerely, kindly. What's more, I'd want to be able to remind them of reasons THEY'VE ALREADY EXPRESSED about wanting to lose weight--for example, have you heard your friend say, "I'm just tired of being…

From the bottom of my heart, congratulations! Your dedication is inspiring, and your results are phenomenal! Cheers to you. Enjoy your fitness!

I lost 10 pounds. I did it every day. I spent 9 days on level 1, 10 days on level 2, and 11 days on level 3. I started out with 3-lb weights but quickly began using 5- and 8-lb weights wherever I could. By the end of it I was using 8-lb weights on level 3 consistently. I also walked about 40 minutes every day immediately…

Oh, forgot to mention: my girlfriend was the one who introduced it to me. She also completed it and I think she lost about 15 pounds. Good luck!

I completed it in Nov. 2011. I started Ripped in 30 (harder so far!) on the first of Jan. 30-Day Shred was definitely challenging and I was thrilled with the results! Of course, use it as you see fit--I can understand wanting to do the alternating days. If you're curious as to how I handled it, though, I did it every…

I know I'm among dozens who've already said it, but...AMAZING!!!! Congratulations!

That's an awesome NSV! It always feels good when someone simply notices one's weight loss and mentions it, but when people see such a change and it makes them BELIEVE it's possible for them too...well, to inspire THAT kind of acknowledgement is a testament to how hard YOU'VE worked and how committed you've been!…

Never!! Either I depend on nutritional info from the restaurant's website or the location itself, or if it's unavailable, I do my best to find a comparable food in the MFP database later on. But the principle is simply this: if one can't simply relax and enjoy dinner at a restaurant for what it is--without freaking out…

I remember this quote from my favorite novel (*The Fountainhead*): "I don't make comparisons. I never think of myself in relation to anyone else. I just refuse to measure myself as part of anything." Stay focused on your goals, because they're for you alone. Chin up, chest out, keep strutting!

I'm sure others have given you plenty of good advice on how to workout, eat right, etc. Mine is this: LOG IN EVERYTHING YOU EAT, EVERY DAY. Don't skip a day. Don't skip a meal. Don't skip a handful of raisins or a single piece of candy! Log everything, and LOG IN EVERY DAY. Make your goal 21 straight days of logging in and…
