I say, if you have a deep McDonald's or fast food craving, satisfy it! So much better than eating something you really don't like and then bingeing later on because you weren't satisfied. If you're going to get the most calorie laden, highest fat, greasiest items on the menu, you'll probably be full for the rest of the day…

I'm so embarrassed! :blushing: I am sure I have more than 500 miles on my current shoes (Mizuno Waverider 16's). I am going to order new ones (the 17's) today. But usually I put about 400 miles on my shoes.

First off, congrats on your running and your decision to tackle your first marathon! Sounds like you have had good training so far. I'm no expert, but "it's not my first rodeo", :-) so I can only speak from experience. I'm particularly interested in seeing how you'll do because we have similar goals, times, and training.…

Oh man. It has been one of the major influences in my eating habits. I was born in the Philippines and came over to the United States at a very young age. Growing up in a Filipino household and holding on to the culture meant food was a HUGE part of our social fabric. People joke that when Filipinos greet each other, it's…

Well, as of this moment, I am an unemployed IT professional. But, when I was training for marathons and ultras, I was running about 45-55 miles per week. Sometimes I would have to do doubles to fit it in - sometimes before work, during lunch hour, after work - whatever had to be done. I was doing Software Quality Assurance…

+1 to the crock pot! Thanks for the post! This is an awesome way to use scraps of veggies and odd pieces of bone or flesh of an animal. Plus it takes almost no time at all. (Crock pot or a regular stovetop pot). Throw it all in there and let it all marry!

I remember like the back of my hand. I was on Summer break from college, working a temp job. I was on my way to work, stopped by a Starbucks, and the guy at the counter said that the Pentagon was attacked. I didn't know what to think of it because I couldn't see the news and reports on my car stereo barely had details as…

I don't own a scale. Never have. Never will. BUT I do weigh myself at a public scale every so often (maybe once or twice every few months) because it is important to know. I seriously have always been the type that goes by how my clothes feel and how I look in the mirror. It's worked for me and I'm pretty damn happy with…

I've lost and gained weight many times before, but I didn't start maintaining until I started using MFP. I initially lost 9 pounds I gained while training for a marathon, and since then, I've kept it off. That was three years ago. I lost another pound in the process. (It doesn't sound like a lot but I'm a very petite…

LOL. Ummmm. I'm a 38 year old 4'10" woman. I think you're tall.

This. ^^. (I knew we were friends for a reason. ) Unless you are eating only fruits and vegetables, I don't know what anyone would consider "clean eating". I think it's an industry term that was coined to recycle the age old thought of eating minimally processed foods. But what is "minimally processed"? Most food…

I don't know... this is a touchy subject. I try not to judge, as a I know weight loss is a very personal issue. But, straight up, I do think it's the easy way out. There are morbidly obese people out there that have lost weight and kept it off simply by changing their lifestyle. I don't know what the statistics are, but it…

That's pretty rotten!! Don't let some stupid drunk dude make you cry. As others have said, love yourself as you are now and focus on your goals. I've been called some pretty mean things when I was overweight. A long time ago, when I was still in high school, some boys used to sing "I'm a little teapot, short and stout"…

p.s. I also ran a lot when I was at my lowest weight (I had a bout of anorexia), and my legs were still muscular looking. I was less than 90 pounds at the time (I'm 4'10"). So you can't change genetics.

Emrace them. I have naturally muscular calves and thighs (you should see my father's, his are massive!). When I was overweight they still had the same shape. However, they're more defined now and I have lost fat on my thighs, so the muscles are more pronounced. I say, rock out those squats - you probably kick…

It's a love/hate thing with treadmills. If you are training for a longer distance race, you're best off running outside on the same terrain and in a similar climate. You just can't replace outdoor training with the treadmill. You never know what's going to come of race day. Personally, I would rather not run on the…

I was wondering why I was getting friend requests again. :-). Thanks all. Update: I'm still the same weight and have been maintaining on the same calorie average since I last posted. I keep saying I want to lose 5 pounds to get to my race weight (avid runner) but it hasn't happened. LOL

+1 to "Running is bad for your knees". If I had a dollar for every time someone has said that to me, I'd be a rich woman.
-
 This.
-
This! It doesn't have to be a race everyday. Save your legs for the real race.

LOVE my Fitbit! It, along with MFP, have been instrumental in helping me maintain my weight. I trust the burns on there and it does give a better TDEE than most online calculators.
-
I will probably be using MFP or some sort of tracking for life. I look at it as a lifestyle change. It's the only way I can be accountable and not use my maniacal exercise as a ticket to eat everything in sight. I've been maintaining the past few years by using MFP.
