PF is not meant to be for heavy serious lifters. They don't try and hide that fact and in fact they promote that fact because they are geared to a different audience. Not sure why that is so hard to accept by so many people. it is a successful business and it is a cheap way for someone to get into going to a gym and…

having a hangover that bad on a Friday morning is the real issue. Drink water, you are probably dehydrated
-
no gym should allow that nonsense

because of the no contract price of $10 a month, give it a try if it is conveniently located for you. If you think you need the full spectrum of free weights to squat and deadlift, then look elsewhere. Many people who complain the dumbbells "only" go up to 80 pounds are either delusional or advanced lifters who know they…

it can seem that way but I am currently doing keto and I have about the opposite of fancy. Chicken thighs (with skin) are more tasty than the skinless chicken breast and much cheaper...I buy bacon and eggs on sale...I get frozen spinach and broccoli. probably the most expensive item I have bought is golden flax seed but it…

oh.....so your scale is broken ...problem solved...go buy a new scale
-
ya, I get that....I have weighed some odd things and wondered to myself...really? But overall, telling a beginner to use a scale to count seems the best course to me
-
well ....it seems to focus on sugar and even takes a swipe at caffeine and the evidence seems anecdotal but still....it doesnt seem off the charts wrong (at least to me)
-
since this is mainly a calorie counting website and not weight watchers or slimming world, I assume people here are counting their calories. If you are going to count them, might as well be as accurate as possible. A scale makes you much more accurate.
-
no way can over estimating be more effective for long term success. Plus, why deprive yourself of valuable calories that you should have? Why not take a minute and be accurate? Using a scale is not a hassle and should be encouraged for everyone serious about this.

another good way to control what you eat is to log it BEFORE you actually eat it. When you see how many calories are in that bag of chips or that sandwich, it might help you to have only half the bag or half the sandwich and save the other half for later. It really helps to pre log until you start get an automatic idea of…

I guess if no effort was required then everyone would be thin and fit. After you have started logging all your food you may be very surprised at how much you are eating. I know I was. Also, after awhile and you see some progress, you may actually start to enjoy the process of learning about nutrition and seeing the…

get naked and stand in front of the mirror ...Like what you see? go back to bed....Not happy with what you see? work out

no

you dont need much to get the sweetener effect. Maybe you are using too much? even a small packet might be too much for a cup of coffee. I use it and like it. It has been very well studied and is just as "approved" as any other thing in the store.

yes, it can be intimidating to go in the weight area. But remember, every single person in the weight room also started as a beginner. Most of them understand that and are usually to focused on what they are doing to be concerned about a beginner.

I don't think I would remain in ketosis if I get near 100. 100 is low carb but not usually low enough for keto
-
If OP starts from a mainly sedentary life style, simple walking (low intensity, steady state) on a regular basis can do wonders for weight loss. Sprint and hill repeats might be asking too much and too soon from the beginner.
-
a blind reference to an "earlier study" does not convince me. It sounds like that study assumed low carbers do not eat any plant derived chemicals. That simply is not the case.
-
OP- bolded is good advice for just about everything here in the MFP world of diet/fitness and for those seeking it, better health. This topic always brings those who must attack everything including the terminology out of the woodwork. If they aren't doing it then noone else should either. Get educated on the topics you…

no need to totally stay away. there are much more frivolous threads and more condescending types but there is "some" good advice to be had. Finding it can take more wading though.
-
not a waste of time if it helps someone meet their caloric goal for the day/week
-
bold is great advice....it saved me the mental gymnastics of sweating this issue when I started out....now I always think of my cal goals in weekly segments

actually low no fat dairy is not considered clean. Full fat yogurt and milk is fantastic.Dark meat (chicken thighs) are tasty as all get out, especially baked or BBQ'd with skin intact.

yesterday you said tomorrow

maybe...if they looked good and the ingredients were all listed. Might be helpful to have the macro breakdown and the calorie count since many of that audience will be interested in those numbers
-
it's really your only option. It takes a lot of time so focus on your weight routine and stay consistent with that before bulking. Or....the spare tire stays and might inflate with a bulk now
-
I suggest a 12 hour water fast as a cleanse where I say nothing really gets cleansed and it gets flagged as spam? wow

you say tomato I say potato...it's all good
