You were defending what she wrote, but you didn't write anything relevant to what she or I wrote. What was the point?
-
Where did she say anything about regulating appetite, allowing a margin of error for food and anything about muscle work?

How many different ways can I say that this is all wrong? Exercise doesn't make you lose weight. You cannot spot tone and lose fat in specific locations. Just for starters.

I currently use an age-old Polar F11 monitor which includes the chest strap transmitter and water receiver. It is old technology, but it is still working strong, has a lot of features (for its age) and it seems to me that it is very accurate and has some programability. It's pre-bluetooth. Heck, I think it's even pre-wifi.…

That's not what it means at all. You're thinking Body Fat %, which is NOT BMI in any means at all. You could have a BMI of 29.2 and barely have any fat at all.
-
If I lost enough weight to hit spot-on in the middle of the BMI range, I'd be dead.

When I was in good shape. I weighed about 180. I was a wee bit tubby then, so I've decided to aim for 170. Frankly, I'd be happy under 200. What my ultimate goal is fitness and health. My weight, in numbers, really mean nothing.

One of many reasons why I don't Facebook.

I always believed it was 3 months, not 3 weeks.

So, in other words, you don't want a Dad Bad any longer?

I have a friend who eats the entire apple and the entire orange - peel and all. I think it's disgusting. Then again, there are people in parts of the world who eat cockroaches. Maybe we should stop spraying our houses with pesticides to kill them and instead start trapping and eating them. Imagine the savings!

If this is how you feel, then there's obviously no point in you counting your calories at all. In all seriousness, every little itty bitty thing we do with calorie counting is an estimate. How much you burn every day will never be exactly 2000 calories. Some days it will be higher, some days it will be lower. How much you…

Some photos from recent rides:

 I'm just having fun, buddy. Chill.
-
How is it treating it with disregard? You bought it to ride, right? Ride the hell out of it, smile and laugh while having fun! Just give it some love and TLC when you get home and it will laugh and smiling along with you! Imagine the stories you could tell if you actually rode it through the water instead of saying, "I…

If in doubt: lube.

Pssht! You've got a fat bike! Ride right through!
-
Shoes that fit perfectly can still slide around a bit on your foot. This tying method is simply to help lock the shoe down onto your foot to prevent any heel slippage, nothing more.
-
If you go by how long you ride for, then I can't imagine the calorie burn will be much different, if there is any difference at all. That being said, you *might* be a *bit* slower on the hybrid bike than the road bike because of one factor: Body position. You will be sitting more upright with your hands further apart on…

You should still have to tie and untie your shoe. The whole point is to make the loop around your heel so tight, your shoe will not move around on your feet at all. If it's that tight, you should not be able to take your foot out of your shoe without undoing the knot.

What are these "dos and don'ts"? Also, I prefer to have a rest day every other day - it allows me to recover so I can push harder when I actually do exercise. The latter has nothing to do with weight loss, but fitness and performance gains.

Obviously I could find myself dating someone like the OP. A woman wouldn't be open about that to a man on or before the first date. That goes both ways as well.
-
OP is not a woman I want to date. Ever. Why on earth should this be important?

50 is one hell of a marathon! Doesn't that count as ultra-marathon territory?

If you are riding on flats, you do not need shoes with a stiff sole. ETA: By "flats" I mean the type of flat pedals you find on BMX or some mountain bikes. They're freaking huge. Flats on standard stationary bikes or bikes you buy at a department store are not sufficiently large enough to support your foot enough to ride…

Trail running is the only form of running that interests me. I may, some day, get into it, if I choose not to get back into mountain biking.

A good, but long read, on the subject: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4027831/ Summary:
