You're absolutely ready. Set a goal of just finishing - don't worry about your time. Make sure you're well hydrated and you'll do great!

Rule of thumb is running on a treadmill is about 10% easier. The equivalent to running outside would be on the treadmill at 1-2% incline.

Bump. Any last thoughts before I make a decision?

Agreed - but it's probably none of my business. We're coworkers, acquaintances, and Facebook friends. I can't imagine I'd be the right person for her to talk about about maritial and financial issues. I'd be a sympathetic ear, and would be happy to listen to her and talk to her if she initiated, but it's probably…

Wow - lots of great advice so far, keep it up! I'm still leaning toward anonymity rather than a gift for a fake reason, but I can be convinced otherwise. I never thought of the husband opening the mail though, and you're right - that would be bad. The only reason I thought home address rather than work mailbox was that the…

Toss! (well, recycle) ..my 4 year old during a temper tantrum (or my 2 year old for that matter)

I'd try upping your intensity before upping your total workout time. You're probably getting more "in shape" and becoming more efficient at getting through your workout. Really shock that heart rate and make it a little uncomfortable - you know you're getting a great workout then. Try doing intervals - presumably your…

Welcome! You've come to the right place!

Welcome, and good luck!

In addition to the above comments, try some hill training as well. For an easy hill session, find a hill and run up about 100m (further if you can). Then walk back down and do it again. It's a form of interval training that will build muscle strength and endurance, and also work on improving your cardio (i.e., your…

Maybe this has been said (I confess, I didn't read through all the posts), but I think it's important to go into each meal with a game plan. Scout out the menu online before you go, decide what you're going to order and stick with it. Call ahead to see if they can prepare things differently for you (sometimes it's harder…

I agree completely. I've always been active and into sports and into excercise. But, I've also always been overweight because I ate like crap. The times where I've lost weight haven't been the times of peak excercise, it's been when I've been calorie counting. But keep up the exercise too! :)

I won't lie, I'd probably go just to say I did it, but certainly wouldn't hit a triple or quadruple bybass burger. I might hit the double though!

You need to find a different outlet for your stress. Normally, I'd suggest a run or some cardio, but it sounds like you've tried that and it's not working. Maybe it just comes down to will power and choices. You know you could have chosen not to eat any of those things yesterday, but you chose to. Choose differently. Don't…

I try to eat half, but sometimes eat more. I always stay under my net calorie goal though (21 days and counting anyway).

Welcome back! Your profile statement says it all - you got this!

Don't be afraid to ask for help from those around you. You may be surprised. If that fails, turn the the MFP nation!

Playing hockey and soccer again without feeling like the team's token fat guy!

I now take in 0 calories in beverages - it's only water and the occasional diet pepsi for me!

Wow, that's awesome! Such an inspiration!

I say go for the C25k - running is free (after buying a pair of running shoes) and one of the most efficient calorie burners out there (calories per minute of activity). Plus, there will always be goals you can use for motivation - run 5k, run 10k, improve your 10k time, run up that scary hill, train for a half-marathon,…

I'm in New Brunswick, originally from Nova Scotia.

Our kids (4 and 2) are early to bed and early to rise, so they go to bed between 7 and 7:30. That gives me time to run or bike (I'm not a gym person - I prefer being outdoors), have a shower, do some household stuff (laundry, dishes, etc.), shower, bit of TV, and in bed at 10 with kids up around 6. Weekends are left for…

Agree, mostly, with the above. We are all a product of our choices. Healthy fit people are a product of their decision to exercise, their decision to pick up those sweets at 2pm and say "no thanks". We are a product of our bad choices, our decision to sleep an extra hour in the morning instead of going for that walk, our…

Welcome! Slainte Mhath!

Agreed - that's why it was my first point.
-
First point - we all need to sensitive and respectful of others here. Second point - I don't think anyone "intends" to hurt others when they post, but I can see how it happens. I know because I've felt the same way sometimes. However, we can't take it personally. Final point - we all have different definitions of success…

Yeah, this. Get it done in the morning and you don't have to worry about it the next day.

That's excellent! I too have lost 9 in the first month. Since I set my goal at 1.5 pounds per week, I actually exceeded my goal in the first month. Slow and steady will win out, even though it's hard to be patient. You didn't gain overnight and you won't lose overnight. Stick with your long term changes and the results…
