  • I'm very impressed with all of the creative things everyone does!!! I love to knit and read...but lately feel like I need something else to get involved with to further enjoy life (with limited funds). I'm feeling very inspired to start gardening and maybe look into taking up a few other hobbies listed here. Thank you :)
  • Try keeping busy with activities you enjoy. Maybe make a "bucket list" and start planning on how you can achieve those things you want to do. I know keeping busy seems like it would be more stressful. I quit smoking 3 yrs ago (after 18 yrs of smoking) and keeping busy....catching up with old friends, getting back into…
  • CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You look awesome. You're such an inspiration!!
  • Do you have slow cooker? I cook them in slow cooker w/ BBQ sauce and they are definitely done (4 hrs on high/6-8 hrs on low) and fall right off the bone. If no slow cooker, then I usually brown quick in pan w/ pam/cooking spray then cook in oven on 350 for about 25-30 minutes w/ some type of sauce or sprayed w/ olive oil…
  • I made it through cycle 1 and halfway through cycle 2. I lost 13 lbs and my weight loss completely stalled during cycle 2. I felt tired, weak, and overall pretty crappy. I'm not following 17 day diet anymore. I'm having more than 2 pieces of fruit per day if I'd like....I'll have a starch with dinner.....I'm back to eating…
  • I'm just wondering how everyone is doing on cycle 2. Tomorrow is my official weekly weigh in day, but I'll tell you.....I weighed myself a couple of times this week and the scale had not budged. I'm just curious if anyone else saw that their first week on cycle 2.

  • Wine. I usually will have it once every other week. I can't limit myself to just one glass....so when I have it, it's a total splurge.
  • Starting weight: 239 End of cycle 1 weight: 226 I'm actually thinking about abandoning 17DD and going back to eating 1500 calories each day (trying to eat completely clean) and working out 45-60 mins at least 4 times per week. Even though i lost 13 lbs in 17 days....I do NOT feel good at all. I'm not hungry and not eating…
  • Look at ingredients. I think there is a lot of salt in most of them. Maybe you can make your own marinade with herb ingredients minus all the salt?
  • I just reviewed my diary and my protein number runs between 80 & 120 per day which I would think is high enough.
  • I'm on day 9 and down 9 lbs. I started tracking my calories and I'm not liking what I'm seeing. I'm only eating between 800 & 1000 calories per day. I'm not hungry....what I'm eating is keeping me full. I know that's a good thing...but my energy level is LOW!
  • Putting the scale away for a bit is not a bad idea. Try putting on clothes that are tight/don't fit and use that to measure your loss. I personally find a lot more satisfaction with clothes fitting better than I do with just seeing numbers on a scale.
  • The lettuce roll ups do sound yummy. And I can probably wrap them and bring with me to eat in car. Thanks!!
  • Today is my day 4 and I'm down 3.5 lbs so far. I am not logging my food because I know I'm below the 1200 calories. I'm finding it harder to plan meals because there is so much I cannot have on cycle 1, but I do feel really really full! The only time I'm hungry is when I first wake up in the morning and when I go to bed at…
  • I too was about 250 lbs when I first started yoga. I stayed all the way in the back of the class and HATED the first three classes. I did wind up falling in love with yoga...love the way it felt and the way it made me look. Yoga made me feel so much stronger physically and definitely helped with toning my body, and helped…
  • I tried several of the less expensive HRMs and they were garbage. I love my Polar HRM and spent about $90 on it. I recommend waiting and saving up money to buy a Polar or comparable monitor. And agree with above....must have chest strap.
  • I had tilapia last night (I thawed in cool water since was last minute idea). I just cooked in frying pan w/ pam cooking spray and sprinkled cayenne pepper/chili pepper/cumin on it and served with tablespoon of salsa. Yummy!
  • I decided that I'm not going to log calories on cycles 1 & 2 like I normally would. I too think I'd feel uncomfortable with not eating enough calories and seeing the little starvation mode message. I am doing 30DS as my workouts (it's way too cold to walk outside and I know I will not be able to refrain from running on…
  • I started today too! I'll catch up in a week to post progress.
  • I've tried it (and going to be doing it again next week) but do not recommend it for long term weight loss as it does not teach you healthy long term eating habits. It's great to kick start weight loss to get you the quick results you need to see on the scale in order to get you motivated. I do stage 1 and stage 2 (usually…
  • I walk at 3.5 mph and then increase to 4.8 mph for slow jog for 1 minute intervals.
  • This might help: http://www.webmd.com/diet/features/17-day-diet-review
  • I did stage 1 and stage 2 last year with great results. I basically used stage 1 and 2 to kick start weight loss and to give me incentive to get back on track again. I do not recommend long term weight loss with just 17 day diet but it is excellent to with helping me get the weight loss results I need to see on scale to…
  • No way!!! I felt that way when I first started and would walk at night so no one would see me. The truth of it is.....getting exercise/being active is not easy for everyone and people will admire you for getting out there and doing something about it. Not only that but the most important opinion is your own. Please don't…
  • Yes....that's definitely jealousy rearing it's UGLY head!! Not everyone is motivated enough to exercise on their lunch break and instead of being inspired by you they're resentful they're so lazy!!!!!
  • Bump! I always need help with lunch ideas. A lot of times I spend a work day driving around in the car and always looking for "neat" lunches I won't drop all over my lap!
  • 01/06/12: 199.2 01/13/12: 197.2 2 lbs down this week :)
  • I think it's more that the change is drastic.....that you look so much thinner that to them you look unhealthy. Most likely if these same people met you for first time at your current weight, they wouldn't think you looked "unhealthy" at all!
  • My opinion.....today is a new day and just stick with your normally daily calories. I don't think it is healthy to try to manipulate your calories to try to make up for what you ate yesterday. No one is 100% good 100% of the time. There are times when we will all have high calorie days (parties/celebrations). Don't let it…
  • Some people do a cheat day where they eat anything and everything they want for a day. I used to do that now and again and realized that the whole reason I was overweight was because of years of bad eating habits and not having self control. An any/everything (all meals and snacks) for me was going back to my old habits…
