  • Just stopping in to say Good Morning to everyone as I try to find my way around on this site since all of their changes. Hope they are still working on this because between these changes and computer issues that are getting very frustrating my desire to enjoy my coffee with this site is being definitely challenged. Need to…
  • Correction...started with hypothyroidism
  • Hello everyone.... I too have hyperthyroidism, which I have had since I was a child. I have gone the whole gamut from being treated for that, told I no longer had the problem so was taken off of it for years, suffered with all of the symptoms for years with no meds and then had a dr tell me I had it again. I was treated…
  • Mine wasn't syncing for a good portion of the day either. It straightened out after I reported it, but now after putting in my dinner it has not picking up the calories eaten from MFP again...... Shall give it a bit of time and hopefully they get it together.... :(

  • Tried Levothyroxine with many side effects making me not feel well at all. Convinced dr to let me try Armour going from 60mg down to 30mg. The 60 was a few yrs ago, so I couldn't remember why my dosage was changed. 30 mg wasn't enough, so I requested to try 45 mg. I felt really well on this. My dr retired and my new dr saw…
  • I can totally understand what you are saying. For me cakes, pies, cookies, ice cream and chocolate are my down falls. I must stay away from the bakery and candy isles and avoid chocolate also. I have found some fruits to be a good replacement for me. After about a wk I am content with just fruit. I have been on this…
  • Last night I was also considering taking my Armour at bedtime, which is around 11 pm. No problem remembering it as I take other things, but now question whether I could not eat 3-4 hr prior to it. I too would like to find out if my sleep patterns would improve because I am up once or twice at night and still wide awake…
  • You have to do this just for yourself. Any family etc that already exercises I have found doesn't seem impressed or even half hardily interested. They seem totally into their own accomplishments. Like so many of us it is something that we have tried to do for many years. Stay with it..... every little bit of accomplishment…
  • You have done so well and look great. Just think what all you have learned this past year about eating right as well as eating the correct portions. I too got burnt out on tracking after 9 months, but I learned so much while on this program. I had only lost 10 lbs with another 20 to go, but just said enough was enough so I…
  • I own a treadmill and a stationary bicycle. Oh really hot days this time of year I tend to use them 3-4 days a week while watching one of my favorite shows that I never can get around to watching. That is a draw in itself. When it starts to get somewhat boring I will wait until it cools down to 80 to go for a long walk in…
  • I too have to deal with this. My only advice is to watch your sodium (salt) intake. It really makes a difference in me.
  • Switched to Armour from one of the synthetic meds and I am doing real well. Lots of my symptoms disappeared. Started at 60mg, was dropped to 30mg and again adjusted to 45mg, which I feel is perfect. See the dr soon to see what he thinks now.
  • I kept track for about a year, which gave me a good basis to know all about portion size and what I should be eating and what I should avoid. It also made me read the labels noting what my sodium intake was as well as carbs etc. At the time I was diligently exercising, but I just lost 8 lbs in a years time. Do not do a…
  • I too am on Armour 60 mg and I have been for about 6 weeks now. Initially for the 1st week I felt a bit hyper, but all of my other symptoms for hypothyroidism quite quickly actually went away once I changed my medicine to Armour. I still tend to wake up at night 1 to 2 times and generally only sleep now 7 hours rather than…
  • DebbyLee..................I am real curious as to what your dr has to say. I have been on Armour Thyroid for about 3 weeks now. Generally I feel great, but heat also is an issue of mine now. 72 degrees and I was sweating unbelieveably. Yesterday I was outside in the shade at 82 for a while doing general gardening and I…
  • I can totally understand your frustration. You definitely have been very dedicated to trying to accomplish your goal. I am 5 ft 1 and I seemed to be stuck at the same place, which became very frustrating after just 6 months. First may I suggest you go to your dr to be sure you don't have any thyroid problems. After telling…
  • Be patient..........you will have some of those weeks where nothing happens and you have exercised yourself to death. Once I increased my calories up to 1300 I started losing again. Only .6 lbs a week, but something is definitely better than nothing. I also backed off my amt of time exercising daily, which helped with me…
  • I have been a tea drinker from as far back as when I had tea, plus milk and 2 sugar cubes when I was a child visiting my English grandmother. A dear Canadian friend got me to drinking Twinings English Breakfast and Twinings Irish Breakfast when I resided in Canada. Good Earth Sweet and Spicey is also excellent. Now I drink…
  • Try Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal....................It has 9 protein in it. I usually add some fruit to mine to make it a bit more tastey as it is pretty bland. Some slivered almonds might be good in it also.
  • So if I need to have a minimum of 1200 calories daily (BMR also) and exercise for 50 minutes 6 days a week burning approximately 400 calories each day do I need to be eating 1600 calories each day ? For someone that is 5 ft 1 inch and older that just seems like a lot of calories. Or do I need to cut back on my exercising…
  • So excited for you. I recently have also dropped to the size 12 jeans after having worn 14 or 16s for more years than I want to admit. When I bought my 12's they were a bit uncomfortable, but now they feel great !! Can't quite move my old jeans out of my closet to the other closet yet, but should I stay here or better for…
  • At this point in your life it is still possible to lose, so don't give up. I have only been at it since Oct, but I am delighted to have lost 8 pounds. I am older than you, but it seems the older we are the longer it takes to lose some weight. Slow but sure has become my philosophy. I am much more likely to keep it off this…
  • WTG ! You look so pretty and healthy now. I can't imagine being down to my goal weight, which is only 20 lbs more. Don't ever remember being there as this weight issue has been a life time issue for me also. Thank you so much for the motivation. We can do this, plus keep it off because we now know what to eat and what not…
  • Judi I was able to bring Lady up..............such a sweetheart. You were very lucky to have her for so long. With her accomplishments in life she is been quite a mentor to your other kitties. I too had a couple I should have sent to kitty college for that vocal degree. LOL
  • I had a maine coon about 25 yrs ago that definitely has been one of my favorite kitties. I would take one tomorrow, but hubby says no more kitties. Next came two more kitties.........1 a tabby and 1 a siamese. Tabby ran away and the siamese died too. Finally when I was looking at the shelter for our missing kitty this 9…
  • Try putting a nutrition bar in your purse when you know you are going to be gone around lunch time or another extended period of time. It definitely keeps me from eating some of those tempting items when in the mall or on the road.
  • You guys are too funny..........all of you ! Glad I found your group for my daily laugh !!!!
  • Hi ! I am Diane, 64 yrs old and retired. I am on a mission to finally get this weight under control. I have been fighting this as far back as childhood. This is a great site ! For two months I have been a part of this. Also stepped up my exercise to 45 min. 6 days per week. Unfortunately I have only lost 5 lbs so…
