When I'm over on fats I try to evaluate the good healthy fats vs. the unhealthy fats. For a description of good vs. evil, see http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/fat/NU00262.

Yikes. I hope everything works out for the best. A break right now is important to your overall health. Don't stress over the lack of cardio exercise. Walk, get good nutrition, and take good care.

I really like the iPad for reading. If I'm going to read outdoors during the day, I prefer the Kindle. I really enjoy being able to download new content without having to go to the bookstore or the library. The really cool part is both devices know where I left off, regardless of which device I used last.

I can't eat gluten, so parties are always a challenge. I find that if I "fill the tank" with good wholesome food before I go, I can nibble on veggies or a salad while I am there. Try to think of parties as a time to socialize and eating not so much.

If I did not exercise, I would have to go to bed hungry to stay within my allotted calories. Since I really enjoy eating, exercise I must.
