Amazing transformation. Congratulations.

I'm pre diabetic and I'm fortunate to have a physician that recommends a low carb approach to controlling blood sugar. Carb tolerance varies widely among individuals. My approach has been to set 1 hour and 2 hour post meal blood sugar goals and then eat to the meter by reducing and balancing the carb load. Personally, I'm…

Thanks for posting. Looks like grains are ok with Dr Weil. His video does say to avoid processed manufactured foods, which I think is very good advice. I think I can live the rest of my life without it.

I've heard it said that inflammation is the root of most disease. Also curious to hear how this diet is defined. Currently off sugar and grains and have had "before" lab work that shows rampant inflammation. Not due for retesting until February, so I'll keep you posted.

Shop the perimeter of the grocery store and buy non-processed foods that is ON SALE! If you can afford the organic, great. If you can't, just taking out the processed food is a great start. Local in-season produce is usually a good buy. This time of year apples, citrus, lettuce greens, beets, turnips, and swiss chard are…

I hit my goal weight loss of 33 pounds last May. My doctor then placed me on a paleo type (carb restricted) diet to control inflammation and blood sugar. Since then I've lost another 12 pounds without calorie counting and without being hungry. My body composition is much improved and I feel so much better with less…

Make sure you fill the tank (tummy) before you go to work. Pack a lunch and healthy snacks. Drink plenty of water. Much easier to pass on the junk if you aren't hungry. Realize that if you are going to cave, you will have to do more exercise that day. Some days you will be willing to exercise more to get the omm noms.

You probably need to run this one by your healthcare professional. . . That being said, I'm so happy to hear that you are responding well to the meds. If this is a new dosage for you, perhaps your body hasn't yet adjusted. Don't overtax your heart until you know what's up.

Welcome. I can see that your sense of humor will carry you through! I love to eat, so I really work the exercise side of the equation. I can't tell you how many times I've gone over and had to break out the exercise videos to save the day. Good luck.

What happened to an apple a day???? I do eat most of these daily. I choose the plain greek yogurt and add a little honey. Yum.

Try using the BMI calculator under the tools secton. It will tell you whether you are obese, overweight, or a healthy weight. Other labels can be very subjective.

Love zumba. My body bugg tells me that I burned 274 total calories during my 1 hr zumba session last week. I'm 5'3" and weigh 147 pounds. I normally would burn about 60 calories per hour, for a net of 214 exercise calories. Your burn will vary depending on height, weight, and fitness level. Ooh, did I mention, I'm old…

Not sure my back side is more toned as a result, but the shoes are very comfortable. Good for walking or running. Not quite as happy with side to side movement with these shoes.

I like almond milk for its flavor. However, a lot of it is fortified with calcium carbonate, which makes me constipated (TMI?). I'm currently drinking Pacific Natural Foods organic almond milk that is not fortified. Then I pick up my calcium intake from dairy or calcium citrate tablets.

I often put a dollop of plain Greek yogurt on my baked potato - reminds me of sour cream! For a more yogurt like experience, add a little sweetener - maple syrup or honey for the real deal, or artificial if you are so inclined. Mix in some semi-thawed blueberries and/or a couple tablespoons of granola and you are good to…

Your awesome blood pressure reading just goes to show that there are benefits to this healthy eating and exercise program beyond the bathroom scale. Way to go!

Well done. Now that you have pics, get rid of those "fat" clothes, cuz you are not going back.

I too am thankful. Would not have accomplished weight loss without the tools and the support of the community. Thank you thank you.

If you have a family doctor, call and have them order the lab for you. My last TSH lab was billed at $108, but the insurance negotiated price was $20. So. . . Call a lab and negotiate the price b4 the testing. Or, do an online search for a self TSH test. Costs $35-$40. High TSH reading indicates Low Thyroid.

Play with your cat. Throw a ball down the hall. Let the cat chase. Most cats won't fetch (however, I have one that will), so now is your opportunity to run down the hall to retrieve the ball and throw again! Both of you will exercise and sleep better.

You have proved you can do it. You've already lost 4 pounds in 50 days. Yay! Sounds like you are experiencing other positive changes - fitness, outlook, vitality. Yay! Slow and steady is the way to go. I'm 55 and post menopause with a tendency towards low thyroid and have lost 27 pounds since logging every day on MFP since…

Maybe they like you being the heaviest. Hang tough and do what is right for you to be healthy.

Bump! Love it, as I'm gluten intolerant.
-
I'm gluten intolerant, so I don't eat bread either. However, I do love PB2 on apples and in protein shakes. I ordered it online. Yum.

I'm gluten intolerant, so quinoa is one of my go-to grains. It is increasing in popularity, so beware of processed food (such as pasta and crackers) that has quinoa front and center. Read the label and you will find a lot of corn starch and/or rice in addition to the quinoa. Once again, "convenience food" is not very…

I use pb2 in smoothies and as a spreadable on apples. It all depends on how much water you add. If you would prefer a dipping consistency, just add a bit more water. For a treat, I'll blend it with a small amount of honey and water. I ordered both the chocolate and the regular and I like both. Yum.

Ok, I'm in. Did Week 1; Day 1 today. I walk daily, but have avoided running all of my life. To avoid passing out, I shaved a few seconds off each running interval, but gave it a good go on all intervals. I'm sure I wouldn't have fared as well without doing the Sansone and 30 Day Shred videos. My HRM told me that my heart…

Awesome. You should be very proud.
