I can't stand regular sodas! I have been drinking all kinds of diet soda and iced tea for over 30 years. Either I have a weird body chemistry, or the popular studies are very wrong. Anyway, it doesn't seem to adversely affect me in any perceivable way.

^Exactly this...but we are both old enough to have been riding 40 years ago...

How old are you? 58 How much have you lost? 89 so far...headed for over 100 very soon! How long did it take you to lose the weight? 8 months How long have you kept it off? 8 months so far...never gained any back in that time What did you do/are doing to STAY slim and healthy? Eating better (healthier), exercising at the…

It's amazing the changes our bodies go through when we start to eat healthier! Congratulations on this awesome NSV!

I lost 30 lbs in my first month, but 21 lbs of that was in the first 10 days. I'm guessing lots of water weight there. After the first 10 days it slowed down a lot and has been fairly steady ever since.

I don't know how bad your knee is, but I would suggest that you simply start walking. Do it slowly, for as long as you can. Eventually you will gain stamina which will allow you to go a little faster and a little farther. There is no need to start a vigerous exercise program right away. Anything more than what you are…

This about sums it all up! Thanks Captain!

^ Exactly this! I have some great friends here as well!

^ This is what I do...although sometimes I only use one finger.

You are awesome, and I'm proud to have you as a friend! Keep up the great work girl!

Awesome job! I ran my first one two weeks ago, and can't wait to do the next one!
-
Good for you! Congratulations on your continued success as you continue to work toward your goals! You are awesome!

When I was a kid, my parent's could spank me without fear of being arrested. I remember when our only TV had vacuum tubes, rabbit ears, and a black & white picture. My first car didn't have seat belts. I remember watching the Beatles live on the Ed Sullivan show. I've been married over 1/2 of my life.

I just ran my first one ever on May 19...finished in 32:24, and I was happy because I FINISHED! Just enjoy the experience. You can always improve on your speed, but you only get one FIRST TIME! :-)

I have one of these that still works - circa 1980. Note the huge amount of expansion memory attached (16KB) :-)

I drink at least 3 diet sodas almost every day, and it has not seemed to affect either my health or my weight loss. My blood pressure is down, cholesterol is down, energy is way up, and I'm still losing consistently.

*raises hand* Southeast PA here - just outside of Valley Forge!

You are working so hard, and it is obviously paying off for you! Congrats!

I lost almost 80 lbs. in my first 6 months, and then slowed down to 1 lb. every 1 - 2 weeks. The important thing to me is that I am still losing! I tried raising my calories and lowering my calories and nothing changed, so I just have decided as long as I am moving in the right direction I will trust the process that has…

Not worried here. I know that I just have to watch what I eat and drink, or I will be over on my calories. I can always go for a run or hit the gym to burn off a ton of calories too. I don't make excuses for overindulging, and I believe that holidays are just a reason that we use to "excuse" ourselves for doing what they…

It took me about 3 1/2 months to lose my first 50 lbs., as I set my goal at 2 lbs./week and exceeded that by a bit. After the first 50 I adjusted my goal to 1 lb./week, and have lost about another 35 lbs. in the last 3 1/2 months. I now adjusted to 1 lb./week for the last 20 or so lbs. that I want to lose. It is different…

I started running around the end of February, and ran my first 5k last weekend (May 19) at 202 lbs. Being the unconventional guy that I am, I didn't use C25K or any other program. I just worked on consistantly improving my speed and distance that I could run until I could do the entire 5k in what I considered to be an…

Great pic...and great smile too! You are doing great with the running...and apparently the shooting too! :drinker:

I had readings of TC 214, HDL 38, LDL was high (I don't remember the exact number). Along with watching my diet (saturated fats and cholesterol), I started doing tons of heavy cardio (mostly treadmill) including running as fast and as long as I could a few times each week. After a little more than 3 months I was tested…

Don't sweat one bad day. Exercise a little more, and eat a little less for the next couple of days, and by the end of the week it will be all good! This is a long process - one day will not destroy your progress. (5 days in a row can though - so get over it and move on!)
-
<I had the same feeling at first, but all I experienced was people cheering me on! Go for it!
-
Good luck, and enjoy your run!

Kind of puts everything in perspective, doesn't it? Great post!
