  • I like Ohio, but I could've done without the ice today!

  • I just wanted to say I relate - even if the green moments are rare, they're still annoying when they strike :) I'd just skip or hide those posts
  • My bro: "Walking pneumonia sucks.," Me: "at least you don't have the boogie-woogie flu"
  • Howdy! Ohio here (raised in Almost Heaven, WV) and about 150 total to go. Nice to meet you!
  • Or maybe you're still working on getting into a public place to exercise? No judgment here, just curious!
  • I certainly have had panic issues - not triggered by food, but agoraphobia had me in its grips for many years. I imagine it's a similar thing - where people may look at you and say "why don't you just relax?" but the body has its own VERY different idea. It is frustrating to know that you're reacting "too strongly" to…
  • I hadn't seen my mom in nearly a year and had put on several pounds. Then I spent a few days with her. I got my plate ready for dinner (normal sized portions) and she looked at it, and me, and with surprise said, "Oh! You don't really eat that much, do you!" ... like she was shocked I didn't have a trough piled to the…
  • I hope he treats your Mom ok. Doesn't seem like sensitivity and nurturing are his forte. Brutishness seems more his thing. You did well to leave. Hope you don't have to spend much time around him.
  • Thank you for taking the time to remember how it feels to start out and cheer us on!
  • I had to look that up, I didn't know what PCOS meant :) Are you looking for a particular kind of exercise?

  • If you go to Community, Groups and search, you'll find several groups that are for folks trying to lose (or have lost) 100 lbs or more. This one seems to be the most frequently used... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/426-need-to-or-are-on-your-way-to-lose-100-lbs
  • I've got lots of family down in Louisville - nice town, but crazy drivers! :) Welcome to MFP! I've been here a few months and really love it - it's very much changed how I choose food. Nice to meet you! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
  • Your icon makes me smile! A fellow spreadsheet-tracker! :)
  • I'm in IT, I provide software support to a building full of eccentric scientists and engineers for all the unusual software programs they need. Basically, "central IT" takes care of the stuff they understand (Office, SAP) and tosses everything else my way :) I LOVE it and have been there > 25 years.
  • Your body is probably freaking out "what the heck is going on! I had it so good!!" :) When I started, I was advised to not even weigh myself for the first couple of months - we were focusing on shifting my metabolism into "burn" mode and getting some muscle built up (which adds weight). Stay on target, but stay off the…
  • Sizes are pretty goofy anyway - true of all ladies' clothing sizes, but especially in the larger ones , I think! I have a pair of 4x pants that are snug, a pair of 3x's that are so baggy they all but fall off - and 2xs that either fit, are too big or too small! It totally messes with the joy of cheering "I'm down a size!"…
  • If you've not sought out a grief counselor, I suggest that you give it a try. We found it extremely helpful when my ex, and father of my daughter, passed away. For sleep, I think the hour or two before bedtime, turn off the television. Do some walking or exercise, have a warm bath, and maybe read or meditate on something…
  • That's a bit of a dig at those of us wearing a 3-4x, isn't it? :(
  • Maybe it gets better as we go along? I don't mind exercising as much now - if you'd asked me a year ago if I'd ever join a gym, I would tell you you were crazy. Now, I'm glad I did and like going 3 times a week. ... but if you ask me now if I would go 4 or 5 times a week, I'd tell you you were crazy... maybe that'll change…

  • So if you weigh 300 lbs, that's 300 oz. Even if you divide it by 2, that's 150 oz. By comparison - a gallon jug is 128 ounces. I don't think I could drink 1 or 2 gallons of water a day!
  • I have definitely worn those shoes! Hang tight and take care of you!
  • I am deeply impressed with your fortitude and determination! You inspire me!
  • Every time mine do that shrinking-trick, that means if I hang in there, the rest will shrink, too... then the cycle begin again. I'll be glad when it all settles down!
  • I'm Sheryl. I started getting healthy in July 2011 and started using MFP in earnest in December. It's been tremendously helpful for encouragement, motivation, recipe ideas, and suggestions. I'm 5'3" and weighed 297 at my highest and my goal is to get to 150.... I might have set it lower, but psychologically it was too…
  • Welcome aboard! MFP has been such a great tool for me. As I've gotten in the habit of logging every day, I started to see trends - like eating entirely too many carbs - and then I made tiny changes, like, substituting one healthier snack for one sugar-laden one. It's really made a big difference in how I feel! For more…
  • And these lunge-walk things the trainer has me do. I feel all wobbly and off balance and like a million people are watching. Especially when we do them in the main room where all the treadmills are - so they probably ARE watching. Blech!
  • How about "Gee... I don't remember asking for your opinion". (I've rarely had the nerve to actually SAY that, but I think it a lot). Seriously - where did people get the idea that they have the right (or that it's proper) to even comment on someone else's appearance? Miss Manners would have cows (politely, of course).
  • @kimmerkay - you bring up a good point! I'll be glad when I'm buying clothes off the shelf in a store, not having to order from WomanWithin because that's the only place I can find something that's in a short-and-wide size! I can think of an NSV though - you're here on MFP! And I imagine you're looking at the food you eat…
