About 3 months - we even put the scale away so I wouldn't be tempted. The first few months were, for me, a time to get used to the idea of exercising and start building momentum. The numbers weren't very important - I just wanted to breathe without keeling over! :)

Some one gave me this tip: The fitbit has a "stopwatch" feature (hold the button down for 3 secs to turn on/off)... If you turn it on when you start the trip and turn it off when you end the trip, that will show up as an "activity" that you can delete.

How much onion powder and black pepper?

The "clown nose" is my favorite answer so far! iPhone, wallet, checkbook, about 8 different color pens, Sudoku puzzle book, ear buds, tissue, USB drive, keys, Id and key fob for work, nail clippers, pain reliever, bills that need paying, receipts from last weeks' trip, cough drops, hand sanitzier, lipstick that I never…

I keep a container of hard boiled eggs in the fridge and like to have one of those after a workout.

Be sure to check under the Settings for the amount of weight loss per week. If you're really overweight (and therefore going to be making big changes in your daily food choices), then I suggest setting the weekly weight loss to about 1 lb / week. This will give you a few more calories a day so you can ease into it. After a…

I have a different perspective on this, maybe someone will find it helpful. I was 38 when I got pregnant and I was very overweight (5'2" and weighed about 250). I lost weight the first few months of my pregnancy because I had finally started eating properly. My doctor was very pleased. Over my pregnancy, I only added about…

Wow - those are the kind of moments I wish I could think fast on my feet and come up with something really clever at the right moment. I love the idea of the dirty diaper upside her head!

Very nice!!! You're doing great!

brain - nothing is sexier to me than a guy flexing his brain cells. Hubba hubba.

Glad to share what's been working for me. I am 5'3", 49 yrs old and had 150 lbs to lose when I started. In my 'previous life', my biggest problem was being out of balance - literally and figuratively. I was eating about 70% carbs and getting NO exercise. One "baby step" for me was to follow the MFP original guidelines of…

Your info says you just joined in March - congrats! You're on a great path! And if you're only 2 weeks in, do NOT lose hope - in fact, some recommend that you put the scale away for the first 2 months... take your beginning measurements (chest, waist, hips, a particular spot on your upper arm and thigh, etc.)... you'll see…

I just wanted to say that I know the pain of being in limbo - not knowing what is the right thing to do for myself, for my child, for my partner, and so on. It's hard when you feel strongly what direction you want for yourself and children and your partner sees things differently. You may feel pressure to make a decision…

I think it's a bit tricky because the group message boards don't seem to trigger any notifications to the members that a new post is made. What can we do to increase membership, too? The more members, the more likely that we can match up people who are ready to shed clothes (oo, that sounds rude!) with the people that need…

fanTASTIC!! So excited for you!

I think it's relative - if before, you went out and spent $15 for a lunch that was 2000 mg sodium and 1200 calories, then these most definitely will be a step in the right direction.... both for your body and for your wallet! There is a nice variety of meals to choose from - some healthier than others - so check the labels…

and don't forget the quintessential little red wagon - drug all my stuff around EVERYwhere. Hot Wheels & /or Matchbox cars and that orange slip-together-track. Had a great collection until my little brother came along and STOLE them. *harrumph. ;)

MOON SHOES WERE AWESOME! Except when a bee was chasing me, then it was just... hilarious. I loved the Shopping Sheryl, because it's the only thing I've ever seen my name on that was spelled "right" My Winnie the Pooh stuffed bear that I got on my 5th birthday (he's 45 now and looking well-loved) Boardgames: Clue ... played…

Ever heard Sean Morey's song "He Said, She Heard"? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arhyBWucu-s ... Do you have to BREATHE.... *giggle

I've seen couples where one was Christian, the other Jewish, and they blended traditions together pretty nicely. For my own experience - I was half of a couple where one was Christian, the other atheist, and we divorced after a few years. It's not just "one" compartment in your lives - it touches everything - and that gets…

I'm down in the southwest corner, near Cincinnati. I moved here 27 yrs ago (YE GADS) from my beloved West Virginia... I'm 49 so that means I've lived longer as a buckeye than a mountain girl. Something is just not right about that! *ponders ... How about you, where are located? I'm happy to "pal up" if you want to shoot me…

I chose to set my goal at the full amount - 147 lbs total. I used to feel horrid about it being so much, but MFP is such a nice environment (generally!). I was a bit afraid of the mental effect of accomplishing 50 lbs lost and then having to "start all over".... I've been happy with it - plus I like looking at the year…

besides - I don't think there's a magic "one size fits all" solution - "do this every day forever and you'll get your desired results." I'm only 8-9 months into this and am by no means an expert, but I find my eating habits have changed tremendously between before-MFP, the first few months (added exercise but no change to…

I use that one, too! I also like the Shaklee chocolate. My usage of them varies. For awhile that was my morning meal. Now I have them primarily as a post-workout snack to up my protein for the day. Then there are days like yesterday - I had a particularly calorie-laden lunch and did NOT feel like eating dinner, but needed…

almost any word with the letters "n't" at the end. I spent most of my life convinced I couldn't do things ... until I stopped and asked Why Not?
