  • Wow, this thread turned into something else while I was away. Denise - LOVE THE PICTURE!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! Come on folks, I wouldn't ask for sweaty pictures unless I wanted them. Lame cop-out! That means you, Lobsterface. Let's see it!!!!!!
  • Welcome, Maria! :flowerforyou: MFP is a great place for motivation, support, and education for your new healthy lifestyle! First, BRAVO for beginning!!!! :drinker: That's not an easy step to make. Second, 7.4lbs is NOTHING to scoff about! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I know it seems overwhelming and monstrous, like you'll never get…
  • My trainer has a body fat reader thing that she has to put in my info (height, weight, sex, etc.) then I hold it and somehow it measures my body fat %. When I used "lean body mass" I was including bones, organs, etc. Thanks everyone for the info.
  • Ditto! And like you said, Melly, you're only pregnant 3 more weeks, he's an idiot forever.   For the record, I think you look gorgeous! I love pregnant women figures. So beautiful!
  • I can't believe I lost so quickly this week! Wasn't expecting that at all! Was 278 on Wednesday and as of Saturday I am 276.4!!! Hoping for 274 by the end of this week!
  • You can do tricep dips using the chair too. Or chair push-ups (wall push-ups are good too, just stay focused on your form). Squats and lunges are great. You can do those behind the desk and they really tone up your hamstrings and glutes. Maybe bring some free weights or resistance bands and keep them under the counter.…
  • YES!!!!!! PLANKS, PLANKS, PLANKS!!!! These are miracle workers! Also, push-ups. Those will help with your arms and also, if you focus on pulling in your core (can take some practice, usually helps by getting your butt and hips down in line with your shoulders and knees) they will do wonders for your abs too. If you want to…
  • I LOVE Fage. It's my fave. I've only had one Chobani and it was not good (strawberry banana), but another one of my MFP friends said it was her fave. To each his own. I go through a tub of 0% Fage a week (mix with honey, granola, cocoa powder, Crystal Light like someone else mentioned). LOVE IT!!! I get the…
  • Thanks for letting me join, Sherri! I've adjusted my goal since I realized August 13th really isn't that far off! My goal is to be 255 by August 14th, my 7 year wedding anniversary. It's about 1.7lbs a week. Unfortunately right now I don't know where I stand because my scale broke a couple weeks ago. Ordered a new one and…
  • Have you tried swimming? It helps build long, lean muscles and definitely a cardio workout. If you're worried about your hips I would recommend doing a lot of hip flexor workouts/stretches (try googling pilates or even ballet stretches). That will help lengthen your muscles and not bulk. Hope this helps! Best of luck to…
  • Indianapolis! Welcome and good luck!
  • Good for you for not letting one meal throw you off track for good! If you keep at it, no matter how slow as long as you're persistent, you will see results! Welcome!

  • I would never recommend working out on an empty stomach. You need something to help get you going to give your energy a bit of a boost (piece of bread, banana, yogurt, something). I would recommend reading this article, he knows what he's talking about (and, no I don't know who he is, just that he is right on the money in…
  • I have difficulty telling people no and standing up for myself too. I would even have a list of local bakery prices and give it to her. Seems like a great idea. Family or not, *kitten* ain't free!
  • To me, it sounds like your daughter is dealing with her weight defensively. I completely understand this because that's how I was. It use to be upsetting to me when thin(ner) friends said they wanted to lose weight when I would have loved to be their size. Or my mother-in-law would constantly talk about eating healthy and…
  • I've confirmed with a dietitian friend that as long as you have 2 cans or less per day you're safe from the mercury poisoning issue. My "diet" foods that I LOVE are Fage greek yogurt, almonds, apples, string cheese, and hummus. I eat them all at least once a week and most of them everyday.
  • WOW!!!!!!!! Truly unbelievable! Congratulations! Your dedication and commitment to yourself are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing. This definitely pumps me up for today and making good decisions!!!!!
  • Is it too late to join this? My wedding anniversary is August 14th, so what an amazing accomplishment this would be for me!!! Would love to join, if you're still accepting "members." My current scale just bit the dust and I'm in the process of buying a new one (would love to find it in a store, but the one I want I…
  • Wow! Thanks, everyone! Keep 'em coming. This definitely helps. I'm not a cottage cheese fan, but the rest is great. Looks like I need to hit up Aldi and Walmart this weekend. @FunkBunny - I agree, wasabi peas suck.
  • WOW! Some of those I've never even thought about before, but now that I see them they are DEFINITELY great motivation (i.e. breaking the toilet seat when leaning to the side [has happened to me/husband twice], the scale creaking EVERY TIME you step on it, swollen ankles). Hope you don't mind, I have a few more to add.…
  • Great! Thanks, everyone!
  • I have eaten so crappy this week, I'm amazed I didn't have a gain this week. Doing some serious grocery shopping and preparing my foods MUCH more carefully this week. 3/18 = 276.2 3/25 = 276.2 4/3 = 277.4 4/8 = 275.4 4/15 = 275.4 4/22 4/29 5/6 5/13 5/20 5/27 6/3 6/10 6/17 6/24 7/4 = GOAL 260!
  • LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I love the Welshman hanging from the neighbors tree. HYSTERICAL!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting.
  • I know the majority of people on MFP use and love Polar HRMs, but I have the Timex Personal Trainer T5G971, which was rated the best on Consumer Reports, and I LOVE it! It comes with a chest strap, watch (fits large wrists and has a great band to hold the extra piece of strap [does that make sense?]), and a couple…
  • Awesome job, Countryrose!!!!!!!! That's fantastic! I've done the re-weigh several times before too. I had no problem meeting the water challenge this week, but didn't do any of the weights. Took this week as a rest week since I got sick and needed to recover because I'm photographing my very first wedding tomorrow!…
  • OH. MY. GOODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is GENIUS, Lina! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing. Definitely making these this weekend.
  • When I hit -10 I bought myself new earrings. When I hit -20 I bought myself a new purse. -30 = Shoes -40 = Purse (I LOVE purses) -50 = Pedicure -60 = Zip-lining w/ friends -70 = Massage -80 = Dress -90 = Horse-back riding -100 = In-laws said they would take my husband and I on a cruise when we both hit -100! -110…
  • Actually excited about weigh in tomorrow! I saw 275.4 yesterday, so I'm holding out hope that it's about the same tomorrow. Especially since I've been sick and am using this week as a rest week I'd be very happy if that were the # tomorrow! Will check in tomorrow with the official weigh in #!!!
