  • Everyone seems very knowledgeable about C25K and I've looked into the program and am very interested. My biggest concern is should I wait until I lose more to start "running/jogging" to prevent injury? I'm 5'8", 285 lbs., my weight is pretty well distributed. Any advice? Thanks in advance!
  • I am definitely on board! I need a jump-start and this sounds great! I have a lot to lose and I can maintain -5lbs. for a while. Thanks!
  • Thanks for the broiling tips! I'm definitely going to check my oven at home and maybe play around with that in the next week or so. I LOVE salmon! This forum has wonderful flavoring ideas, if anyone missed it: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/94133-post-your-baked-salmon-recipe?hl=salmon Kristy- I always chop up my…
  • Thanks for the tip! I've struggled on and off with depression for over 10 years. Luckily have only had 2 major bouts with it, but it's a constant struggle to stave off those looming feelings. Will definitely check out the book.
  • I'm a Gleek too!!! Loved the Lady Gaga show! Hilarious!
  • Welcome, Maslina! I too have heard the "pregnant" bit and that is no fun to get when you aren't pregnant. Good luck!
  • Wow! What a difference!!! I hope you're feeling that difference, too! Keep up the great work. Winter is my weakest season so I'll come to you for support then!
  • Wendy - I'm definitely not getting into the 100 calorie packs. For one, I think they're over-priced, but like you, I'd rather have fruit or yogurt even (love Yoplait light!). I'll probably be getting more frozen fruit/veggies than fresh, just so I don't find myself without them in a few days and a lack of motivation to get…
  • Wow! Thank you everyone, for the staples and recipe ideas! I can definitely put together a game plan. Will let you know how it goes!!! smuehlbauer - That fish sounds delicious! Ibett - That fish sounds delicious, too! lol I'd also love to do fish tacos sometime. Maybe try that next week. Clarissa - This may be a silly…
  • I love hummus! Great idea! I'm a little weary of whole wheat pastas because I've had some that are really grainy. Is Healthy Harvest like that? Definitely would love to find one that I like though!
  • Mellie - I've never heard to stick to the outside and avoid the aisles of a grocery store, but that makes so much sense! Thanks for the tip! Reading through the blog now (very helpful!). :) I will definitely be stocking up on fruits and veggies (steph -thanks for the frozen veggie tip! Totally slipped my mind!). Anyone…
  • Our goals seem to be about the same amount, so if you're interested in a "weight loss buddy" let me know! Everyone works differently. I have to reward myself because I know that I have bigger rewards set up down the line. That said, visit my first blog and you can see all my lists (rewards for X amount of weight lost, food…

  • I do the same thing! I know my friends love me no matter what (well, almost), but I'm about 3 of my friends combined! Stick with it! This site really helps keep you in the right mentality to succeed. Good luck!
  • I remembered when I was a size 14 I weighed 188. I'd like to get down to a size 12 so I figured I'd set it at 160 and see where that lands me! If I decide that I still want to lose when I get to 160, I'll just keep going!
  • Gotcha! That makes total sense now! Thanks for the feedback. This will definitely help in my meal planning. tross- props for the -96! Keep up the great work!
  • It's nice to know I'm not alone with these feelings! It's hard to let myself off the hook when I'm starting out because I'm so afraid of falling back into my old habits. I'm just so afraid of this turning into a "failed attempt." Going to spend this weekend doing some major planning and doing my best until then to keep…
  • I used to work with a woman who had the lap band and it had some VERY inconvenient and unattractive side effects. I'm sure it didn't help that she didn't change her eating or exercise habits, but she would have to tear up her food before she ate it. She would eat extremely slow and still half the time she would throw up…
  • Thanks, Mary! Great idea with the slow cooker! I should definitely be using it more anyway :) Will make the chicken salsa soon and let everyone know how it is. Thanks, Mulligan! Thanks for the salad ideas too! Sounds like I'll be okay for dinner after all!! :)
  • That does sound yummy! I think I may be sticking with a green salad tonight. Not bad, but not what I wanted. I suppose I've learned one of the many lessons I'm sure to learn on this journey. :)
  • No babies for me, but I'm on the 2lbs/wk plan too! First week under way. Would love to keep up with you ladies and join the team!
  • WOW! Thanks for all the advice and encouragement! I figured I'd drop more to begin with due to the initial "shock" to the system. And he did say it was to make sure it was a LIFE change, not just a diet. Phoenix- You read my ticker right. Just got weighed this morning at the dr. though I'm not sure I actually lost 5lbs.…
  • I'm pretty sure my scale is from Wal-Mart. I don't know the brand, but it can track up to 4 people's weight and progress. You can set weight loss goals on it and it will tell you how many more lbs. until you reach that goal. Maybe cost between $20-30.
