2 out of 4 of my best friends in life were of the opposite gender. In fact I am more comfortable being friends with people of the opposite gender. My current best friend is also female. I think you have to have such a mutual unsaid understanding where both people realize what the boundaries of the relationship are. and I…

I've been doing a type of IF for 20-25 days now and I have yet to see a remarkable difference in body composition. Though I feel I have more energy in the gym than before as I can workout longer and my personal bests continue to improve.

Look up 'intermittent fasting'. Research has shown 14-18 hour fasts are actually very healthy for your body. In reply to original topic, yes I am a muslim and going to be fasting from tomorrow and also working out DURING the fast. I am in a bulking phase, having reached my original goal weight 2 months ago so I mostly just…

Cashews, Lentils, Spinach, Mint (leaves), Eggs, Strawberries and Apricots are my favorite ways of getting iron. I make a smoothie consisting of Spinach, Mint, Carrots, Tomatoes, Strawberries. Takes care of half my iron daily requirement.

Always eat em back. If your scale loss has plateau'd then take a few days off and come back with a higher intensity exercise. Rinse and repeat.

1st 5K December 2011: 40:00 minutes most recent 5K April 2012: 26:25 minutes I attribute it to doing lots of HIITs, hill spirits and all sorts of running on incline :) and of course dropping 12 lbs in the process.

That is an amazing achievement :) Congratulations.

Ditto, OP. Why take a walking break when I can go 30 minutes at a good pace without breaking a sweat (okay that may be a little exaggerated but you get my point). I am a C25K grad, can run a 5K at 26ish minutes. But I am unable to keep my endurance up for over 50 minutes. Finishing my first 8km run last month, the first…

2.5 hours, just a couple hours ago too. Good to know I can survive running a half-marathon time without getting bored to death.

^^ Summed up basically what I've read on hundreds of posts since joining MFP.

Hah! (thank YOU politically incorrect Brit sitcoms of the 70's  )

Can't see your diary but I would take a guess and say it could be due to a number of reasons: 1) your protein intake may be too low. Protein is vital to sustain muscles 2) You may be consuming far too few calories. Your body needs fuel! as a result it burns off more muscle instead of fat to survive 3) It could be simply…

Went through your diary and noticed your protein intake is low on most days. Protein is vital for your body to repair muscles! If you work out, always aim for more protein than what MFP's macro recommendation. And the sodium in fast food that you are eating makes your body retain a lot of water weight (so the weight change…

Screw the scale. Be more active. Experiment, but in healthy ways. Love your lifestyle :-)

@rrwetzel: LOL! To be honest I haven't met anyone very famous in person. I am not a very "outgoing" guy I guess? I've talked to an astronaut when he was in space (in the International Space Station) does that count? :))

Congratulations on your first 5 miler! That is an amazing accomplishment for someone who isn't a regular runner (nope, you're not a non-runner- welcome to the club).

I will probably guess and say I am still a LONG way away from doing 12 let alone 15 pull ups in a row. But yes that is something I am working towards and eventually would add weights or try to work towards doing even a single rep one arm. I don't follow a split routine at present, but sometimes I stress and focus on…

@ilovedeadlifts @waldo56 : Makes a lot of sense. I do a program where I work the whole body almost with compound movements (hence the pullups) every other day but using different number of reps/sets. So it's like strength and power one day, endurance the other.. etc etc. I find it more flexible and allows me to get in my…

That's what I normally do. Love the burn I get in my upper body after a round of these! I always end up relying on my back anyway for chin-ups. my arms kind of give up after a couple sets :( How many days in a week do you workout?
-
Appreciate the input everyone. Very helpful. Thanks. Just wondering why do you think I shouldn't be on a split routine? (fyi, I am not on a split for the moment - but I switch up my workouts sometimes to stress some muscles more than others when I am sore in other parts)
-
Congratulations, that is a wonderful accomplishment :) Next you should try to improve your mileage or time. Good luck.
