  • I don't use this method, but the way I understand it is you need to eat back AT LEAST enough calories to NET NO LESS THAN your BMR.
  • 99% of the time, my total liquid intake per day is only 5 cups. I let my body do it's job and tell me when to drink. Sometimes more, sometimes less, but most average days, I end up with "5" logged on MFP. The thought that you need extra water for proper digestion is a myth - your digestive fluids are already in the proper…
  • The (very) rough rule of thumb for women is 100 lbs for the first 5 feet, then 5 lbs for each inch over. Then a 15 lb swing on either side as "healthy range". SO 5'6" would be 130, with the range being 115-145. My ultimate goal is 140, although as I've lost weight I've realized I actually have a small frame, so 130 would…
  • I have NEVER seen or heard this, which surprises the hell out of me since you all mention it like EVERYONE knows about it. I LIVE on the internet (sad, but true) so I guess I must not hang around men who feel the need to qualify their friendly banter with "no homo." Happy about that! Ain't got no time for homophobes.
  • ah, I love you, Mickey Avalon fan.
  • The answer to this is always MORE TIME. 3 weeks isn't enough time to give your efforts before declaring they aren't working. I've only tried to lose weight twice in my life and both times it was 6 MONTHS before I dropped a pound. And then it started to come off regularly and quickly. Do the right things for a long enough…
  • ^^this. Also, it is fact that muscle takes up less VOLUME than fat, so given equal amounts, the muscle will be smaller. You grew muscle, but your bodyfat hasn't changed much, so yes = bigger. But muscle burns more calories than fat, so I'd still stick with building muscle and working towards lowering fat. 6 weeks does not…
  • Check with a seamstress ASAP and explain the rush. They have done miracles for my daughters in short time (you pay for it though). They are so good, you won't even be able to tell they altered it.
  • It depends on the kind of sick. "Can't crawl out of bed" means you STAY in bed. A cold that you would still go to work with, I would would still exercise, although maybe a little less intense. "Sick" (or injured) isn't an EXCUSE to not exercise, it's just a limiter of what you can and can't do over a set period of time.

  • me too.
  • I add an ounce or more of walnuts or pecans to every salad. The crunch is awesome. I add either to any pancakes or oatmeal or yogurt as well. Make a trail mix with dried fruit and nuts and a few chocolate chunks. So good.
  • Disagree. "Access to..." and "ability to..." do NOT equal LIKE to...If someone doesn't LIKE to cook and chooses to use that as an excuse to NOT eat healthy, then they are making a decision. There are lots of things I don't LIKE to do, but I do them anyway, for my benefit.
  • Whatever I want, but never something I would eat any regular old time during the week (I only eat out on weekends.) Tonight I had sweet and sour pork, fried rice, BBQ pork, mongolian beef, spring rolls and later, a pint of blue bunny chocolate cake ice cream. That being said, I save a huge chunk of calories for Friday…
  • You win. Funny though. I LOVE the way it feels to crawl into bed after a shower, so the ultimate luxury, if I have time after I shower, is to go back to bed, with the towel on my head, even if it's only a few minutes.
  • Nope, I do too. Not full spray, but when you're driving and everyone else is all "eeeewwwww, SKUNK!" and I'm all "I like it!" I'm terrified of aliens. If they exist. Which I'm sure they do.
  • egg yolks, coffee, beer, sushi, pasta/noodles, french fries, fudge, most pies, alcohol, subway, hotdogs or other tube shaped meats (LOL, no comments!), pepperoni, mayo or any mayonnaise-based salads (potato salad, macaroni salad), mac and cheese, lobster, oysters, jelly/jam/honey, frosting/icing, gravy, meatloaf. Yet some…
  • Pot calling the kettle black, much? The first 4 things on your dairy for just today are poison, and considered so by anyone following the paleo/ancestral eating/primal methodology. You obviously would disagree, but I am 100% positive you're killing yourself with what you eat, just as you would say "splenda eaters" and…
  • Make your own. It's pretty easy and tastes so much better!! Besides mayo (especially homemade) isn't a "bad" food and you don't use too much really.
  • While I get where the OP is going, and agree, in the sense that vitamins/minerals/etc. will not be met, we ALL HAVE EXCESS FAT on our bodies. It's how human bodies work. You can eat, even at "negative net calories" and still get ENOUGH CALORIES because our bodies pull them from our fat stores (if you aren't already at…
  • Yes, it's 2013 and 4:20 died long before YOLO and SWAG. My motto is "do the best you can, with what you have, where you are."
  • I haven't had "breakfast" yet. When I do, probably about 3:15 pm, I have brought some leftover pulled pork with cabbage slaw, a hard boiled egg, a banana and plain greek yogurt with blueberries and walnuts. Looking forward to it!
  • I lost more WEIGHT (the number only) with longer, more often, cardio, but I went down more SIZES, and looked better, with shorter, but consistent, WEIGHT WORK (heavy weights).
  • LOL, unless you literally hear those words from someone, you are, in essence, judging them the exact same way you think they are judging you. "All skinny people" do not think bad things about fat people, just like "all fat people" are not sitting around eating twinkies all day.
  • I know what you're saying, they may or may not be judging you (probably not), but YOU FEEL LIKE THEY ARE, so it's the same as if they are, in your opinion. It's going to be OK, pretend you are a race horse with BLINDERS on. You can only see one direction, FORWARD, and ignore the rest. I know it's easy to say, but with a…
  • Just from earlier this month.
  • I have tried to remember and live by those words, they always pop into mind at the best time! You'll be missed!! Enjoy your future, I know it will be bright!
  • I have several tattoos and never once has it occurred to me "these won't look good when my skin is old." Why the hell would I care about what my skin LOOKS like when I'm old? I'll be damn happy to be old and still running around and enjoying life. The problem is people are so shallow and only care what other people think…
  • never. it's pretty gross and the list of chemicals in their "food" is atrocious.
  • I didn't have any fitness goals this year. I lost 20 lbs in 2011 and 55 in 2012. I changed my lifestyle and the weightloss is what happened (and how I wanted it to go). No "goals" means no feeling bad if I don't meet them. I just stay on track, like the little engine that could. I'll get there when I get there. 55 lbs is…
