I'm echoing what the others say. I wouldn't aim for LOSS, but would focus on the strength training as your next step. I am also 5'6" and my goal is 150 where I will decide if I want to go for 140. But seeing you at 150, I think I would be thrilled there! You have to work at achieving the fitness level that YOU require to…

It is sustainable and you probably already do it. I assume you stop eating at a certain time at night, sleep for a number of hours then break your fast sometime later in the morning, correct? You probably go at least 12 hours already and you haven't dropped dead yet. Sustainable.

I do it and even bumped it up a notch last week and lost 10.1 lbs THIS WEEK. No joke. I have been plateaued for almost 5 months. Going up and down the same few lbs since June/July. I eat in a 16/8 pattern already, almost every day. I decided last week I was also going to make 2 of those days "Eat Stop Eat" style…

^^^ This is how I am. I enjoy holidays, vacations, etc, but the very next day, I'm back to normal. It can take me a couple weeks to get back where I was, but I'm OK with that. I have the whole rest of my life to live. A few days here and there are not a deal breaker for me, as long as I'm realistic and don't let one day…

Today is a perfect example because I wore my heart rate monitor. MFP said 45 mins elliptical is 597 cal. The elliptical machine I was on (programmed for my height and weight) said 542 cal. My heart rate monitor (also programmed for my height, weight and sex) said 440 cal. That being said. I still let it put in whatever MFP…

I am 45 and to date have lost 70 lbs. I still have 50 to lose. It's been 17 months so far. The first 8 months I lost 30 lbs and that was with exercising 2-3 times a day, 5-6 times a week. I also tried to "eat better" but really didn't change what I ate much. In month 9 I discovered the research and science behind…

It happened to me (at 5'6" and about 260ish), had to leave a ride I was on with my youngest daughter because I could not get it buckled/closed right. Don't remember which ride, but it was at one of the DisneyWorld parks in Orlando. I was mortified, even though really only my daughter knew as I hopped back out quickly and…

Don't let it discourage you, the number on the tag doesn't matter, just that you're getting smaller and healthier. The sizing from different manufacturer's, and different cuts and styles, is radically different. I have pants at size 18 that fit the same as others that are size 12's (I started out at a size 24W at 265 lbs,…

This is a size 24 to 14. I'm at 12 currently and hope to hit an 8. I'm 5'6".

They're 100% important because muscles aren't actually built in the exercise stage -- they're built in the rest/recovery stage. The work tears down muscle fiber. During rest, the body heals the small tears making them stronger. That's how muscles grow. If you don't let them rest, they will never fully heal and you don't…

Ice cream. But I don't care. I willingly eat less or move more during the week so I can indulge on weekends as often as I want. I'm OK with slower progress.

I don't even LIKE thigh gap! It makes you look easy.

OMG, yes. I can't say it's after I exercise, I haven't paid attention to a pattern I guess, but I go through times where that is all I can smell, and then it goes away.

Duh, the real problem is Deer can't read. Let's put our money there: Deer Literacy!

Paleo/primal also doesn't completely consider "carbs" the enemy. They consider industrialized agriculture mass-produced frankenfoods the enemy. Those, generally, are high-carb. Obviously by eliminating them, you eat less carbs. I eat a ton of veggies and fruit every day. I average about 100g-120g carb a day (I say average…

I agree with the OP, up to the point where people aren't trying to help themselves first. My number one pet peeve. Don't be lazy, do some research (reading) on your own first. Don't come here and ask "the same questions" because it's easier than trying to find out for yourself. The "I don't have time so someone just tell…

Lots of butter and a little salt makes most things better. Roasting veggies also helps a lot.

I'm 45 years old and 5'6" and in this series of photos I've gone from 265+ to 200. I lost the first 25 lbs in 7 months, just by exercising for the first time in my life (although I worked out on average 3 times per day, 5 days a week, so that wasn't totally sustainable for me...and it was all cardio.) Then in Feb. I…

One downside being that hemp is really high in polyunsaturated fatty acids (about 80%) and the ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 is about 3:1. Also, the Omega-3 is in the form of the less available ALA (bodies don't efficiently convert ALA to DHA/EPA.) I would supplement with fish oil if you're going to start taking in a large…

That is AWESOME! That's my goal by the end of the year, but seeing as I haven't even tried one (no place to try one...) I doubt I'll be working up to it anytime soon. But, I WILL get there. Good for you, gloating is totally warranted here!

Thanks for sharing! I don't think you should get any flamers, you are only sharing YOUR experience. You're not telling us all we're eating too much or fooling ourselves. Just sharing what you learned about your body. You get any haters, you tell 'em to bite you. Thanks again!

I gave myself no other option. My husband and I used to work together and everyday we went to lunch together. Then his office was relocated to the other side of town. The day after they moved, I went to the closest gym and paid for a year membership. I go every day at lunch, pretty much no exceptions, because I don't have…

LOL, Yep, this ^^^ , I have never, EVER experienced anything like this, not even in college athlete locker rooms, so not sure it's a real problem for other women?? Thinking if the OP has this problem at her gym, maybe she should address it at said gym. This is passive-aggressive at it's finest -- talking about it here…

^^ This would be my response too. TO the OP though: I thought I was going through life feeling "fine" until I actually FELT GREAT and knew the difference was my mostly paleo diet. I don't get your "thanks for the condescending comments" remarks though. You're asking us to do the legwork so you don't have too. How do you…

j/k, that's awesome!

Don't throw them out, they're apparently a great place to carry shampoo.

Ermagerd, lerve hernderls! But to be serious, I think those people fall in the "tear others down to feel good" category. Usually so unhappy with their own lives they continually try to burst everyone else's bubble. I do my best to avoid those people and/or call them out on their behavior by not keeping silent. "oh my god,…

Could be a coincidence and you're actually getting sick. Has happened to my twice. Once after trying my first pomegranate I got violently ill. Ended up being a stomach bug. Next time was after making and eating angel food cake. Same thing, stomach bug. Unfortunately, I have never eaten either thing since. Unless you're…

Speaking from experience, you also need a pregnancy test with those symptoms...
