4'11 and 100 lbs even. Not sure I have a goal. I want to lose fat and build muscle and shape. Not sure the difference will show itself in pounds. 2 lbs on someone my size makes a big difference. I will be happy the more lean I become and the stronger and faster I get. I also am a fan of the measuring tape!

4'11 and 100 lbs. I eat 1200. I was eating less and my weight was stuck. I am leaning out by eating more. My advice? brown rice, almonds, greek yogurt, eggs (super calorific)...cheese. The wrong thing to do is nto eat enough. Really. Increasing my intake was the best thing I ever did. I have far more energy for working…

You say you are estimating your burn by heart rate. Hm. That seems like it could be the problem. An estimation could be way off. The last time I burnt 1000 calories is one day from exercise was when I did a half marathon in record time for me (can't recall what that was and I am really short so I don't burn much when I…

Well....you may all be interested to know that several hours after eating this sundae I felt awful. I could literally feel the sugar running through my veins and it was not a good feeling. I don't think I will ever, ever do that again. It was yucky! (perhaps I have broken my relation with that form of sugar....now I am…

I can assure you, he doesn't dictate my food choices. He does however do all our cooking as he is extremely good at it and I am an incompetent in the kitchen. I am in a great relationship. No need to pathologize it on the basis of that one comment...although I appreciate the concern. :)

Wow! That would be the way to do it. Knowing that makes me a bit sad about how many young children in there were eating those.....I mean under 10, big blizzards to themselves. I don't have any protein drinks. My husband is a bit of a real food nut. IFor some reason he does not like the idea of the protein shake and has…

Thanks all! Since I have been increasing what I have been taking in, I have had more energy, set personal records for various workout, increased weight on my lifting, and my weight is starting to move (and I have very little to lose so minor losses are major victories!). I am convinced this is the way to go. I will…

so if my goal is 1200 and I burn 516 with exercise and then eat 1358 for a net of 842.....this is too low? Or am I fine because I am over 1200? to be honest, I have recently upped it....I used to net anywhere between 350-500. Already feeling way better! But can't really imagine how I could get more calories in!

So far, so good. I am feeling fuller and far more energetic. today I did a brutal hike we have in North Vancouver (the grouse grind) in record time...first time under an hour! Usually it leaves me dead for the day but I then worked for 5 hours, cleaned the house, made dinner, played violin and still have loads of energy to…

I am really curious about this too. Is the net supposed to equal the goal or is it ok to be negative? Or desirable? Hope we get an answer!

I'm 42, pretty motivated and consistent and looking for friends on MFP. Feel free to add me!

look forward to hearing your thoughts.Have done quite a bit of reading today and am thinking I likely need more time with weights.
-
way to go!!!!!

This is helpful to hear and I am inspired by your loss and picture. I have been thinking for some time that this is my primary problem. How often do you do weights and how so (whole body, splits)?
-
running. great as long as you have no joint problems. can do it anywhere, anytime. all you need is a pair of shoes.

That's inspiring! It is interesting to see your graphs. Everyone says this will help but intuitively it seems odd....people who are starved lose weight (war-torn countries prove that). But I am starting to think this is a different beast. So far though, in my quest for more I miscalculated and had a quarter cup of Hagen…

Feel free to add me. I am 4'11 with very little to lose (no more than 5-10 max) but I am focused on stripping some fat and building muscle. I need a reconfiguration. I am on here a lot and looking to give and receive support. It is definitely harder for those of us who are short. Every pound looks like a great deal more…

nicely done! hard for us 4'11's. what did you do? How many calories? Net? Other secrets?

Rest days are important. Do you have them? I used to x-country ski race at a pretty serious level. Our training schedules would always involve buidling up over a period of 3-4 weeks and then backing off to just a little above where we started the previous cycle. If we went the same intensity all the time or constantly…

I am curious to hear what others say about this. I am often netting 400-800 when I consider my exerecise (based on heart rate monitor). I definitely work at a caloric deficit but I am soft and definitely not looking like one would expect with my diet and workouts.
Not to derail your carb question, but I am 4' 11" and I consume between 1400-1600 cals daily. I cycle 20 miles and lost 4 lbs and 2 inches off of my thighs, and an inch from my buttinsky. Are you netting 1200 daily?
It depends. Today I had a 13 hr day of work, so I was at 1400. However, yesterday I ate…

thanks all for the great advice!

WOW! Thanks!

Sorry...I should have been clearer....starchy carbs (potatos, pasta, rice, bread).

I guess I wonder if I do have some resistance to insulin. My grandmother was diabetic (the acquired type...cannot remember which one that is). I have been a pretty serious athlete in the past, yet have always had a layer of padding on me. I don't eat process foods and I kick the $@#%@$ of the fittest looking people at the…

I had read this in a Jillian Michaels book. It was all about hormone/sugar regulation (particularly gherelin...spelling?). Thought someone might know a bit more about this idea in particular.

thanks!

swimming, push ups, dips, planks....rowing/canoeing

I wonder if you are feeling like your family is disrespecting you and if this is what bothers you? I get the sense that most of us would like to be taller but we are ok with the fact that we are not. But this seems to be on your nerves. It is fine to be short. Think of all the great people who are. There are lots of them.…

what does it involve?
