I agree wholeheartedly. One day of eating food guilt free isn't going to make you fat overnight and if people want to indulge on the holidays with their family then so be it!

I'm from the Midwest and we love us some casseroles and hot-dishes. There is about 275 calories in a serving of green been casserole and that is one of the main dishes we have because everyone loves it. Side dishes are usually soaked in butter and cream and the desserts are intense too. No one in my family is overweight…

I have read a quite a few comments from other posters who have said the same thing. I am keeping track of my measurements and taking photos as well, but staying away from the scale. Keep up the excellent work and good luck!

Thank you! This definitely makes me want to go stronger.

I don't own a car and the public transportation here is a joke. I am seriously not making excuses here, because if I had a way to make it to a gym and could afford it, I would. At my home university, I have access (and a car) to a state of the art facility with amazing and fun classes like belly-dancing, spinning, and…

Within the first couple of days I noticed immediate changes, mainly with joint pain and a huge reduction in migraines and such. I was able to lose 30 lbs within two months as well..sadly being on Guam, I have had a VERY difficult time maintaining and losing, but a call to my doctors and the recent medical issues from…

I am also experiencing the same thing as far as not losing weight and I am careful to eat back my calories and make sure that it is healthy food that I have for snacks and such. I'm not immune to snacking though, but I watch my intake carefully as I have some health issues unrelated to my weight. Since I am not really in…

I have a terribly short attention span for most any exercise and it is a personal challenge in itself to actually continue any sort of routine. There have been a few days where I have not pushed myself, but I typically finish the exercise drenched in sweat and exhausted. I am incredibly limited as to what can be done…

How do you feel about minimalist shoes? I've been looking into getting a pair but I am not sure yet. I fractured my spine as a kid and my hips and pelvis are messed up and one leg is comically longer than the other and I always work out barefoot because my feet hurt when I wear shoes and I love walking around barefoot as…

This made me laugh.

I strictly work out WITHOUT shoes. I even do Insanity, which I have just started (finished my first week!) and run in the elliptical without shoes. When I wear shoes, my feet start to cramp within a minute or two and it actually becomes more painful to workout so I just don't wear shoes.

Wow! What an inspiration to look at this and read your story. I'm turning 30 in 8 months and I'm determined to get my life back on track and do it the right way. Your story was so inspiring to read today, especially because of all of my recent struggles!

I'm 4'11 and I have no idea how much I weigh, ha... I think I am around 175is and I am looking to get down to 130! I'm heavier than everyone else it seems, but I would love to have other short friends for encouragement. Feel free to add me.
-
Oh, and everyone feel free to add me as well! I love motivation, support, and encouragement...don't we all :)

I don't have as much to lose, but I have a ways to go yet and I recently just FINALLY started to deal with my food issues so that I can finally lose weight and keep it off for good. So, basically I am there with you!

I just started Insanity and I weighed myself and did measurements the second day in because I forgot to the first day, ha. Since the fitness test is repeated every two weeks, I plan on doing measurements every two weeks. I don't actually own a scale right now since I am still living in the dormitory at my overseas school,…

I too dislike this term as well. Well said.

I think you look just fine. Your friends are maybe noticing the dramatic weight loss now, perhaps? Just maintain, eat healthy and be healthy. I think your friends will come around. Keep up the good work!

Aww, that's so sweet! I could definitely use a hug!

I actually fractured my spine and have a contained herniated disc, I think they just call it a slipped disc now, but my spine is all sorts of messed up. I was a former gymnast as well, so my pelvis and hips are pushed forward and because of the fractured spine, I have one leg that is way longer than the other and my hips…

I found some stretches that you can do on YouTube. I just typed in SI relief, or something similar and it pulled up a bunch of videos. They do help and give me some relief, but I need to find some strength training and exercises that can help. And yes, I get weakness in my left leg. I have more pain in my hips though, so…

My favorite thing about my body is definitely my legs. I'm not even five feet tall and I always get compliments on how lovely my legs are. I also love my hair and my skin, I get complimented on both.

I went through a similar issue as well. My metabolism isn't slow, but when I restrict calories, its like my body immediately goes into starvation mode and starts to store calories rather than using them. When I eat between 1600 and 1800 calories a day, I personally feel that my body utilizes the energy much better and I…

I've never really dieted, I've always been an eat what I want kind of person. For several years I've eaten organics and whole foods because I don't agree with CAFO farming and agricultural practices so my grocery shopping reflects that. I do follow a gluten free diet because I have celiacs and for me, it helps maintain my…

You are absolutely right. There are lines and when they are crossed, the hurt that it can cause can sometimes be too deep. Words are so painful and so powerful, but people are so quick to use them for hurtful purposes when they really should only be used for good.

Well, I guess the bible conveniently left out emotional and physical abuse when all those old men wrote it and decided that it wasn't a valid reason to break the sanctity of marriage. But heaven forbid a woman leave because times got "tough". If you are actually suggesting in any way that a woman who leaves an abusive…

And for that, you are a gentleman and a fine example of how a man should act towards his wife.

That's your opinion of YOUR vows and making blanket statements that those of us concerned for her emotional well being don't take vows seriously is disrespectful. It's pathetic that we live in a world where VOWS trump emotional and physical well being and that women are forced to believe that they are the ones breaking…

Your post made me sad! Girl, you have got to love yourself, thin or not! I have struggled with very disordered eating and actually used food and weight gain as a way to piss of my family (its a long story) but in the end, a lot of my issues were the emotional issues over the fact that I did not love myself. I have…
