I find that diet sodas trigger cravings for junk food. A handful of almonds and a glass of iced tea accomplish the same thing. If you like carbonated beverages, try a sparkling water like La Croix or something. I lived on diet Coke for 20 years, but eliminated all pop in February. So glad I did!

If I know I am going to want to "cheat," I exercise more so I have more calories available. I get what I want without cheating and have the added benefit of exercise.

Do you eat a lot of carbs at dinner? If I eat pasta and breads for dinner, or pizza, I am always hungry later. Cut those in half, and use the calories for an evening snack.

Find something you like to do, and make time to do it. Whether it'z Zumba, swimming, walking the dog, etc., if it is something you like you are more likely to make it a lifetime habit.

You mention that God might just intend for you to be "this way." God wants what is best for you ALWAYS. If you feel your best, then you're all set.
