  • Nutrition: great until dinner, but I knew that was coming. Staff party for end-of-the-school-year. Aside from the wine, I did really well. Exercise:Fit in my 15 minutes (although I was still a little buzzed from the wine). Finished w1d2 of push up challenge. Goal: see above
  • Nutrition: I done did good. Exercise: Yup Goal: I did my minimum 15 minutes while I had something baking in the oven. Tomorrow could be tricky, I need to think through my plan tonight.
  • Nutrition: Mostly good, could be better. Baked some fries for a quick family burger meal. I had my burger wrapped in lettuce, but I wish I would have grabbed the sweet potato fries instead. Exercise: 30 min on a high-resistance elliptical session, plus w1d1 of the 100 push up challenge (column 3...pretty good for a girl).…
  • I'm in. I need to get back on point with exercise and really think about my nutrition (it's still okay...but I can feel myself slipping). Exercise: Took the 100 push-up initial challenge plus 30 min. on the elliptical. Nutrition: Did really well if you don't count the chocolate butter cream frosting I sampled while baking…
  • I think it's great that you're trying to improve the quality of your food! I did the same over a year ago and I'm so pleased with what my family now eats. I think it can be really overwhelming, so we did it gradually. For instance, I got a bread maker and stopped buying bread in the store. Then we became members of a CSA…
  • This was how I went about it, as well. I lost 5 pounds right away just from increasing my water and scaling back my portion sizes. Another thing I was very conscious about was the quality of food I put in my body. I'm lucky to live in a very health-conscious city and have easy access to organic and/or local ingredients. I…
  • You are usually paying for a longer stride. Cheap models have small strides, expensive models have longer strides. Research ANY model before you buy.

  • Rice cake with nut butter or laughing cow and a yogurt (preferably higher-protein varieties like a Greek yogurt).

  • I'm a big yogurt fan for snacks. My 2 faves are the Kroger brand CarbMaster yogurts and 0% Plain Fage Greek Yogurt topped with fruit, nuts, or a small spoonful of low-sugar jam. I even like it plain, but a lot of people can't get past the tartness of plain yogurt.
  • try the site jog.fm It has entire playlists at any speed you desire! If you don't download the songs from there, you can at least search for ideas and take a listen!
  • I agree with milaxx. Also, take your measurements. I lost more in inches at first than pounds. Make sure you are drinking A LOT of water as well, especially with an increase in exercise. Too soon to give up.
  • I just started using Egg Beaters after the same such reservations...but I couldn't beat the convenience. I'm perfectly capable of separating my own, but on weekday mornings I finally gave in and gave it a whirl. Sometimes you can find local dairies or farms that have liquid egg (but I found the brand in my neck of the…
  • I had fabulous results when using it 5-7 days a week. I often did an extra 20-45 minutes of cardio along with it in the form of a run or elliptical session.
  • I just started the 17 Day Diet and the second cycle of this plan is a zig-zagging plan. I'm anxious to begin the next cycle.
  • I recently went in to the GAP in the US to get new jeans since my size 12's from 3 years ago were too big. I started with a size 10 and ended up going all the way down to a size 6 (that were still baggy in the back side). Yes, I've lost almost 35 pounds, but I was shocked. Depending on where I go, I now wear anything from…
  • 1. Things you pack in a hospital bag? Robe, slippers, toothbrush, iPod, baby outfit, baby blanket 2. Popular brands of diapers? Luvs, Pampers, Huggies, Bum Genius, Bummies, White Cloud 3. Things you put in a diaper bag? Diapers, Bottle, Binky, Extra Outfit, Plastic Bags, Snacks 4. Nicknames for a pacifier? Binky, Paci,…
  • I found a hip little consignment store in town and brought in all my big clothes and was able to get "new" clothes. I never thought I'd shop consignment, but I just had to find the right store(s)!
  • The first time through I definitely stayed with L1 until I could do all or most of the moves. My modifications were to do as many of the actual moves as possible, and THEN modify them. For instance, I would do as many push-ups on my toes as I could, and then go to knee push-ups, making sure to add a push-up each day. So, I…
  • Brush the bottom of a pyrex or baking pan with olive oil. Place a bunch of chicken breast tenders in a single layer in the pan. Add salt, pepper, or desired seasonings and finish off with the juice of one lemon. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes and serve with a side salad and steamed veggies (and rice or pasta if so desired).…
  • That's fantastic! I am a wife, mother, teacher, too and have just started running again. I recently decided to try to run the 2.6 mile course at a local lake and found that it was super EASY and I could probably run it twice! I love being in shape and being able to keep up with my kids (2 boys...2yo and 4yo) and my active…
  • I have tiny, toned legs and thighs...but my thighs still touch. All of my weight is in my stomach, so I just end up looking like a chicken. But, I could care less that my thighs touch...I've got to flaunt my assets, and my case it's my legs! I rocked the leggings and oversized shirts in the 80's and 90's
  • It took WEEKS before I logged any significant pound loss from the Shred. However, my measurements decreased significantly. Absolutely stick with it...but you may want to take a rest day here and there. It took me 5 weeks to finish it and I was also working out on my elliptical and doing long walks and shorter runs. I just…
  • The shred causes an enormous amount of "good" pain in the beginning. Definitely push through (but do the exercises correctly), it is so worth it! I just went over my measurement reports over the last year and I lost 7 inches in my waist and 6 inches in my hips with the Shred accounting for most, if not all, of the loss!…
  • I tracked religiously for the first 6 months of being on mfp. Now I generally track breakfast, lunch and snacks. I find it's still good for me to see how much I have left at the end of the day. I found my biggest issue was not WHAT I was eating but rather how MUCH I was eating. It is certainly difficult when you have to…
  • Bump I just got a pair of Nikes with barefoot technology as they were so comfortable when I tried them on. I also bought a pair of Asics because I live near a trail system and couldn't imagine running "barefoot" on the gravelled trails. I'm debating whether or not to take the Nikes back as I will spend much of the summer…
  • We started dishing up salad plates about a year ago and we almost always dish our plates up in the kitchen and bring them to the dining room. The only dish that stays on the table in a serving bowl is our salad. I never make my kids finish their plates, but I only give them a tiny bit of food (and then seconds if they ask…
  • Greek yogurt is a great go-to food for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and dessert. Top with fresh fruit, low-sugar jam, a little honey, nuts, dried fruits. Use as a dip for veggies. Use as sour cream for quesadillas and baked potatoes (cooked in microwave). I like keeping rice cakes (Rice Thins by Real Foods are amazing…
  • Laughing Cow cheese with veggies or rice cakes (I like Real Foods Rice Thins...23 calories per cake). Greek Yogurt. My local grocery store (Fred Meyer...a Kroger store) has a great high protein, low calorie CarbMaster yogurt in lots of great flavors (60 calories and tons of protein to tide you over). I like a combo of a…
  • I've lost over 30 pounds, and a few pant sizes. I know I look smaller, but the same muffin top I've always had is STILL there, it's just peaking over the top of a size 6 or 8 instead of a size 12. Somehow, when I look in the mirror, I don't look any different (other than in my face). I know I must look different...the…
  • I am an apple and a combination of MFP and JM dvd's has FINALLY helped me to lose weight and keep it off. Getting ready to do the Shred again this Spring, then I will hit 2 or 3 of her other videos hardcore over the summer!
