  • Hi, I haven't found a group yet, that's what I was looking for also. I'm on day 3 of cycle one after a five day fruit vege fast to clean myself out and reset the internal clock. I don't have the book, just know the general plan and know a good bit about food and nutrition. It's the first time I'm trying something so…
  • Hi, I'm Katherine and this August will mark six years from when my son died at age 20. In my opinion, you are still in the height of crisis mode, your loss is so recent. I know the world around us wants us to "get back to normal" but that isn't reality when we have lost a precious child. I find that the total out of…
  • Lexington, been here longer now than where I grew up (north of the Mason-Dixon line).
  • Hi, For the first time since October, I took the weekend off. This week will have it's tough spots, but I plan to walk at least 2 miles on the days that are jam packed, which truly are only today and tomorrow. Therefore I want to hold myself to our regular 4ish mile walk the rest of the week and behave myself! I just…
  • Hey Mara, congradulations! That is awesome! I'm at about 25% now. Where in KY are you? If too far away, look online for a meetup group nearby. Another thing you can do is search for people on here based on miles from your zip code.
  • Hi -- Thanks, I forgot to give their names. How silly. Maia is the flat coat, named after one of the stars in the Pleaides after a family feud in which my kids couldn't agree on a name. My youngest and I picked it out of a book of Greek mythology at about 2 am before her first vet appointment post humane society. Cato is…
  • Hi - I like the colors and patterns. And, I 'm a lefty knitter too!
  • Hi - I am a twin mom too and my mother is one of a set of fraternal twins. It is hard when you have so many things going on at once. Mine were born in 1986 and have a younger sister who was born two years later.
  • I agree in general, spot reduction doesn't really work. But if your waist/upper hips are always a problem area, doing core exercises like pilates & yoga really help strengthen and tone your belly and sides. Mine is disappearing, but I happen to be one of those people who loses first and gains last in the belly area.
  • I totally agree with both of these, and want to smear a little topping of the 80's movie 'Fatal Attraction' where Michael Douglas is drowning and choking Glenn Close to death in the bathtub and then she rises up out of the water like a zombie so the betrayed wife gets to shoot her. Give me a break!
  • I don't know about the hunger issue, so can't speak to it. Besides jogging/walking, I try to either begin or end my day with a 30-45 minute routine of pilates/yoga combination. It feels really good and I can tell the difference. We just got a balance ball too and I plan to combine that with the other stuff I do.
  • I know I weigh more just before and during my period, about 5 lbs. I don't have a scale, so I just don't bother to find one during that time. In moving toward my goals, I am focusing more on what my clothes feel like.
  • I am 5'6 or so, with a big bust but medium bone structure. 10 years ago I felt really good and fit, like pictures of myself and how my clothes fit then at 135-140. So I am aiming in that direction again. We'll see as I approach it. I wore a size 8, and that seems reasonable. I don't have any formulas or anything, just want…
  • Hi, I'm Katherine, live in Lexington. I now work a desk job and have a boyfriend who eats and drinks a ton while staying skinny. I realized a need for some formal motivation and found MFP. I am looking for friends to stay on task and keep going over the long haul. Walking my dogs and tracking my calories are really helping.
  • HI, I lost my 20 year old son 5 years ago in a fall two days before he was to start college. He has a twin sister and a younger sister and we have worked hard on survival and meaning in the intervening years. It is a tough journey. Hugs to all the grieving moms and family members. Katherine
  • HI, My favorite are my Merrell Waterpro's, followed by Lowa boots. I have really wide and flat feet but not wide ankles, so I have to be careful in choosing my shoes. I can't wear sandals for hiking because they don't support the flat feet enough - sucks.
  • Hi, Yes I have used meetup and am in two groups in my local area. It does help, and we go on hikes to areas I don't know so I get exposure to more places. Love it! Katherine
  • Hi I'm Katherine, 47 and 3 children. Been an on again off again knitter since I was a kid. Mostly off. Really got back into it in 2005 and made tons of presents but then my son died in August 06 and it's been up and down since then. I'm on Ravelry as darcysgrandchild. I love making up my own patterns (simple ones) and I…
  • I am, darcysgrandchild.
  • Hi I'm Katherine and I have two dogs: a 10yo flat coated retriever and a 5yo blue heeler. Since I started in mid-October we walk between 2-4 miles almost every day. If I do nothing else in a day for exercise, I am committed to getting out with them. We have only missed a couple days since October 18th. I love the extra…
  • I started mid-October, didn't actually weigh myself right away, but I think my guess is pretty accurate: Height 5'5-5'6 Starting weight 194 Current weight about 180 Goal weight 135-140 I don't have an exact expectation, but hope to get there sometime in the summer to early fall.
  • United States, originally Cleveland Ohio, now Kentucky. I miss the lake, snow and the variety of people and cultures. I like the long growing season, natural wonders, and all the trees. And you find good people wherever you go.
  • 1.Remembering how good I felt when I was at my ideal weight and fitness level. 2. Wanting to age well, in a healthy and active lifestyle. 3. Noticing after a few short weeks my weight loss, looseness of clothes, increase in stamina, increased self esteem, etc. 4.Wanting to fit into the awesome clothes languishing in my…
  • Modified yoga and pilates under the supervision of someone who knows how to take care of your injuries are great ways to strengthen and get in shape gently. But you do need expert help. I have a congenital neck injury and see a licensed chiropractor twice a week. Massage helps too. Once you know your body and it's…
  • Hi, YOur story is similar to mine, even close in weight and goals. I am thinking of joining a gym. There is one in my area that is tied to a local church and only costs $60 for the year! A friend of mine has started there and he says an added benefit is that its not crowded and the people aren't uber jocks. I do a mix of…
