This is not how immunity works, at all. flu shots have NO effect on making super-flu bugs. You're mixing it up with overuse of antibiotics and antiviral drugs.
-
as long as you're willing to wear the mask, fine with me. by the way, wearing the mask really really sucks. Lucky you that you never had it. It doesn't mean you're magically immune.
-
completely agreed. I was one of the earliest cases of H1N1. I was down for two weeks, followed by 6 weeks of postviral fatigue syndrome. In the end it cost me my job (because I couldn't keep up with deadlines during a critical time). GET THE SHOT.

You work at a hospital? Yes, it is reasonable. If you have a low grade infection, you are putting the patients at risk.

I wish I could love mashed cauliflower. I have cooked it every possible way, and have have had it prepared for me by other people who swore I wouldn't be able to tell it was cauliflower. Sorry, but I can smell the cauliflower in it from the next room. And I just cannot stand the stuff. If I have to give up potatoes, I will…

as I mentioned earlier, if you are getting up several times a night to pee, you are drinking way too much water. You simply DO NOT NEED TO. Drinking too much water raises your blood volume, puts strain on your circulatory system, and unnecessarily strains your kidneys. Everyone says peeing all the time flushes out toxins.…

of course other liquids count. They are made of ... water! with a little flavoring. Of course you should count them.
-
Seriously ... if you have to get up several times a night to pee, you are either pregnant, or you are drinking too much water. If you are running to the bathroom twice an hour, you are drinking too much water. If your pee is colorless, you are drinking too much water. There is such a thing as too much water.

If you ever get it for more than a couple of weeks, GO TO THE DOCTOR! they can easily stop it with a dose of progesterone. That is not normal and is bad for your health. Really you should get evaluated for PCOS. that used to happen to me all the time before I was diagnosed.

My LDL is 104, my HDL is 124 (not a typo). My doctor told me I have nothing to worry about.
-
not mine! You might be surprised how many people here are diabetic or insulin resistant.

Honey is pure sugar.

Can I just say it is cracking me up to watch an argument between two sets of headless abs?
-
No, there really isn't.

That is not really true. Fruit contains MANY kinds of sugars, not just fructose. Some fruits are actually high in sucrose, which *will* cause insulin spikes if you are sensitive to it. For this reason, I limit my fruit.
-
It's actually a lot more complex than that. Fruit contain many different kinds of sugars in different proportions. Some fruit is very high in sucrose - table sugar. You can find lists of fruit that are higher in fructose vs.sucrose, and it's not necessarily the ones you would expect. It gets very complicated. I am insulin…

I just never straighten it. Curly hair is beautiful! I shampoo only once a week with sulfate-free shampoo. The rest of the time I just rinse and use conditioner. I use Cantu leave-in conditioner from the ethnic hair section. Very cheap. Then I use a styling product such as IC gel (also from the ethnic hair section, super…

this is silly. You have to limit your intake of FOOD to lose weight, especially high calorie food, and fruit can be high in sugar and calories. For the amount of sugar/nutrients, in some cases, you may as well eat the cookie.
-
just because it's unprocessed doesn't mean it has no calories! fruit is definitely not free for me, since I am insulin resistant and have to limit my sugar. I focus on vegetables instead.

Brooklyn Sorachi Ace, Sierra Nevada Hoptimum, Yard's Tavern Spruce, Dogfish Head Raison d'Etre, oh hell. too many. who can pick a favorite?

do you poop? then it is not blocked. A real colon blockage will land you in the hospital quickly.

Here's the clinical research to back it up. Over the long term, low carb diets are better for raising HDL than low fat diets. Low fat diets cause initial lowering of LDL, but this does not persist over time. http://www.webmd.com/cholesterol-management/news/20100802/low-carb-diets-improve-cholesterol-long-term

eat the eggs! :) besides, eggs today are much lower in cholesterol than they used to be.
-
to be perfectly honest, I never count the cholesterol I eat. My latest HDL reading was 124 (not a typo) and my LDL was 104. My triglycerides are under 50. I eat eggs, milkfat, and red meat almost every day. It doesn't change my cholesterol at all (makes it better if anything) so I have completely stopped counting how much…

Remember that only 20% of your blood cholesterol comes from diet. The rest is chiefly dependent on factors like exercise and genetics. You will probably find that your cholesterol improves just from being on a low carb diet. Clinical studies support this, and in fact low carb diets are better over the long term for…

but I am too stupid to edit a post. which is probably why I didn't hack it. :)
