  • They are both important because if you just diet you'll wind up losing muscle eventually if you don't exercise. Yes, you'll see great initial results with just diet, but that doesn't mean you'll be healthy or fit. They go hand in hand.
  • Not vegan, but work with a vegan. I think it will vary from person to person as far as the benefits or not. I'm a teacher and she is one of my aides. This was her first year working with kids and she was sick all the time--she just got every cold. She's also not thin--about 5'2" and 180lbs. It's a personal choice, not the…
  • Been on since October and have lost 43lbs so far. It's slowed down coming off the last couple of months, but I'm not worried. As long as it keeps going down and not up, it's all good. Of course, I would like it to go faster, but, as others have said, I want this for the long term. I'm eating less, eating more of the right…
  • My best friend's daughter has celiac also. I found this site for her and made cookies from her to bring with me when I went for a visit. http://against-thegrain.com/category/recipes/ I follow her on twitter and found these (people she follows): http://glutenfreeonashoestring.com/recipes/…
  • Hi Donna, 47 here and have been on MFP since end of October 2011. So far I've lost 40 lbs. I had a couple of setbacks, injury wise, and did gain a couple of pounds back that had to be re-lost, but I love MFP. I don't blog and don't usually have much time to come on the message boards, but what I love about MFP is, well,…
  • bump love banana pancakes! might throw some flax seed meal in there too
  • AWESOME!!! Bought some new, smaller pants a couple of weeks ago and they feel big! LOL Not a fan of belts, but I'll be wearing belts to try to stretch out the time in between having to buy new pants. Gave away around 30 pair of pants beginning of the month :)
  • Karen here, will be 47 (YIKES!!!) end of this month. I've been on MFP since mid-October and have lost 23 pounds so far (still have to do my weigh in to update my bar) and my current goal is 60 pounds simply because it seems attainable. Once I reach that I'll shoot for the stars and maybe go for another 60, but I'd settle…
  • I've been here since mid October and have lost 19.4 pounds so far :D Sending friend request :)
  • Even though I was sick this week and didn't do any exercise for 3 days, I have lost 17 pounds now (almost 18)!!! :D Tried a resistance band today. That's harder than I thought it would be! LOL Since I walked, I only did the upper body part, with modifications. Had some yogurt after 8 a few days this past week. Want to get…
  • Didn't have any exercise for the past 3 days--I was sick. Felt so much better today and took the dog for a 2 mile walk. Did good with the eating though, for the most part. Did go over on sodium thanks to the can of tomato soup when I felt really lousy the other day. Have to get some more things to snack on. I had over 500…
  • You can do it! You did it once, you can do it again. I'm hoping I don't gain with the Holidays coming. I have to be careful about portions and should really save some calories at breakfast on Thanksgiving day. Have a much lighter breakfast to make it easier calories wise. Especially since I won't get my usual walk in that…
  • Okay, so quoting my own post. Took my dog to the park and we walked almost 3 miles (2.8 something), then home and had a bagel and 2 eggs with my glass of chocolate milk (not a tea or coffee drinker and plain milk makes me nauseous in the morning for whatever reason). Just took a shower and weighed myself before I got in…
  • nothing lost this week, still at 247, but I walked for an hour every day except wednesday (dentist) and increased the mileage depending on what time i get home from work. we've done 1.7 miles up to 2.7 miles. the less manny stops to smell everything or because he doesn't want to go where i'm going, the faster and further…
  • Okay, thanks, that makes sense rockerbabyy :) Gotta make sure I don't leave that many then. Only 3 weeks in and I think I've started to slow down--didn't really notice a change in weight this week. Now have to make sure I don't get too down. Losing those first 13 lbs made me very happy :)
  • It's only been about 3 weeks now, but I noticed the first couple of weeks, that, yes, I was still hungry at night, but I tried to ignore it and was successful. I'm realizing this past week I wasn't as hungry as I had been and I'm feeling fuller after meals without overeating. Now I'm at the point where the weight is going…
  • No walk today--dentist after work. This will be my rest day and I'll do more on Friday. Under in calories for today too. Might nibble on some nuts so I'm not too under 'cause I know that's not good to do either.
  • Hi there, another fairly newbie (okay, I started October 20th--hides head in shame  ). I have over 100lbs to lose, but set my goal for 60 right now. It seems more attainable than the bigger number and I don't want to set myself up for failure (the special ed teacher in me  ) Only added 1 friend (joined her…
  • That's the easiest thing for me :) I was already a water drinker and carry a 1L water bottle to work with me (a big Sigg bottle) and I have another one that's not quite a liter that I have with dinner, plus another one that's about a half liter. If I just drink the 2 big ones, it's almost 9 cups, add the smaller one and…
  • Good for you! I have contemplated getting up earlier to do some yoga, but I really want my sleep. For now, I'm taking my dog and we're going walking when I get home from work. We did 49 minutes today (1.6 miles according to an app on my phone). Tomorrow maybe I'll go further to up it to 2 miles. He's getting better at…
  • Can I be in? GOALS: continue exercising/walking for at least 30 minutes, up to 1 hour, daily with my dog (if walking) stick to portion control, especially with the Holidays coming up no eating after 8:00 I've been doing good so far. These are my diet goals right now. New to this (and only my 3rd post) :) The daily logging…
  • I'm 2 1/2 weeks in and have lost 14 pounds so I am really proud of myself. I set a goal of 60 pounds for now since any other number just seem so unattainable. I was told at my physical for work that I had high blood pressure--in the past it was high, but I attributed it to having taken Sudafed and seeing the "white coat".…
