  • last time I went (last July and October), I requested a refrigerator in the room, and I stocked it with healthy snacks and half of the Subway sandwich, etc, that i would get during the trip. I did stay clear of buffet's, and would take half of my meals back, and eat them as my lunch the next day. And like Kelly said, stock…
  • Eliminating salt makes the world taste better. Trying to convince loved ones that they can salt to taste AFTER they have had their first bite at the dinner table is frustrating, to say the least! I follow a mostly raw food diet, and I cook 90% of my meals from scratch. Doing this keeps all of my bad foods down to a level…
  • good advise, thanks. The his was injury induced. Dislocated them badly in HS, and was in a body cast. Then I spend 10+ years at 300lbs before losing 120. the last 30 are sucking hard! lol A few weeks ago I let back on the weights and added more cardio. Not only did I feel I was on a muscle plateau, but these are the months…
  • No, I DO eat the exercise calories. I Use my BMR, subtract the recommended deficit amount for weight loss and add back in whatever I am burning that day for exercise. And I stay in the 40% protein, 30% carb and 20% fat ratios.
  • morning kilburni, I'll tell ya, that there days I crave all day long. The only salvation for me is to keep something crunchy to snack on like celery sticks. Are you sure you aren't dehydrated? go drink a huge glass of water, and then give yourself 10 minutes to see if you are still having the cravings. I have found that…
  • I do weight training, yoga, spin class, bike outdoors, run on treadmills, swim, run outside....... If i don't keep mixing it up, I get bored and I can get complacent in the amount of effort I put into it. Good luck!

  • Save The TaTa's Month!!! Whoot! Good job on the run Smadag! And to you, Pam for getting out there! I hate wind.. so good for you! I have been up on the scale for a month... but holding steady. I have about 3 (ish) weeks till hubby comes home for a visit, so I had better focus on my endurance rather than the scale !! LOL…
  • Morning! Samdag: Glad you got some rest. If you need more, take it! Pushing yourself without rest doesn't do anything for your body! Hope my TFM ladies are doing well today (and welcome back Pam!) ileana
  • Chrissy: You are truly an inspiration! I know what you are talking about with the shoes! I wear size 9 normally, but I am a full size 10 in my running shoes. Mary: I am so sorry about your hip. are you able to put heat /cold on it? Hubby will hopefully be home in 4 weeks (still a long way off) for a mid tour visit for…
  • NEG: My husband deployed 3 weeks after our wedding and is gone for a year. POS: He is, hands down, the best man to love and to be loved by. (to that, a caveat.... Marry a friend. You'll never waste time trying to impress someone who already knows your full of crap, leaving you with all the time in the world to laugh with…
  • I keep telling ya, Smadag, you are a rock star! I am so sorry for missing my morning post,... this job has me frazzled. Don't worry about the overage yesterday, instead revil in the accomplishments! Any news on the iron/anemia issue? ileana
  • Smadag, When I am really low, it doesn't matter whether or not I workout... I am exhausted either way. At my lowest, I was not good at getting to the gym. Not because I didn't want to go, but I would literally fall asleep where ever I sat down.. With mild(er) anemia, I feel a little better .. but I contribute that to…
  • Smadag... I run on the anemic side all the time. When it get's bad, i am exhausted ALL the time. At my worst (lowest) I was coming home, sitting on the couch for a minute, and falling asleep, which is not like me at all. I also had pica (craved and chomped on ice all the time), which can be another sign of low iron. I have…
  • Smadag, trust me... there are days I dread going to the gym... but I have found that if I just get in the door (to the gym, not home), i can work out just fine. Sometimes it's just the thought of going that is the bummer. Other days,I daydream about the gym while I am at work!!! HA,,, tell me how messed up THAT is?!?! ...…
  • lol.. thanks. No official "trainer", but a coworker/friend of mine is a former bodybuilder. So he and I workout together on Saturday mornings. He and I spend about 2 hours on Sat mornings, talking smack to eachother, which turns into a "who can out-rep the other". Not out-weight, but out-rep. It's a good way to make sure…
  • Morning! (Good stuff/bad stuff) Good Stuff: Today I have been married 6 months.... Bad Stuff: Today, my husband has been deployed 5 months.... lol... it's a mixed bag! My weekend was ok. Got cardio in on Sat, and I had a knock-out chest workout yesterday... I even benched 85 lbs! I am now unwilling to lif a fork as my…
  • Have you tried the Wii Sports Resort? It looks so fun... I may break down and get it as a way to add to the wii fit "stuff"
  • No, I think I may have to go pick one of those gel-thingies up after the gym tonight, thanks for the recommendation, Chrissy! • You are a rock star, Smadag! Well, my weigh in isn't till Friday, and I am trying to be good about not peeking! I have the Wii fit, and it is fun, but I want to get the Wii Active Resort (I thing that is is)... it is fitness with fun!... or at least that is what it looks like! As for other games, I highly recommend the…
  • Oh my goodness, dear! Big virtual hug, coming your way! Ok, I think the best way to help you solve this problem, is to post your recipe and instructions on the cooking method you used. I have done meatloaves in the past and not had the problem. It also depends on what criteria you are using as "healthy". Low fat, low carb,…
  • Good morning Smadag (and my other TFM ladies), I am so sorry for your lack of sleep, Smadag. I feel your pain. I haven't taken Sierra (pooch) out for an AM walk in the last 2 weeks, because it requires me to get up at 3 am, and I can't seem to get to bed before 10:30 pm these days. If I don't get 6 hours, I don't function.…
  • Good morning ladies! Pam, you are one bad mamba jamba! Smadag, keep your head up, I still have hope for your little ones. I had dinner with a newly engaged girlfriend. I am really worried about her descision. She is 20 years his senior. and she is in her early 40's, so we are not talking about late in life romance. Very…
  • Mary: listen to your body and don't overdo it! Chrissy: Go for it, you rock star! Smadag: I am glad to hear that your DH is communicating his hurt with you. The situation stinks, but this side effect is a nice thing. As for the kid issue... well, I just don't know. I am scared ,I guess. I do the following for my early…
  • Good morning Mary, and ladies! I am alive but that is about it. Work has me so stressed out that I have a constant pull in y neck and a low grade headache. If I am not consious about it, my shoulders constantly move upward towards my head and I find myself hunching over at my desk. Not good. Even my afternoon workouts…
  • Morning Mary (and subsequent ladies  ) Smadag: Any luck my dear? I was so sick to my stomach thinking about it when I read your post late last night!. I would be frantic if I had lost my babies. I wish there was something we could do other than to send good vibes your way. Mary: Sorry about the sciatic. I can only…
  • just moving the shifts and "stuff". can't know for sure, as we can't really talk about specifics. It does stink. Thanks.
