  • I found a set on Amazon for £20. Digital, accurate to 1 gram, measures fl oz, ml, lb as well. They were made by Duronic. But you have to get ones that measure to increments of 1 to be super accurate.
  • Cheer Robbie. All advice is gladly received. I'm kind of expecting this to take around 10 weeks, some of the jumps in duration are pretty big (like me!, but not for long). I'm cool with repeating weeks, it's a marathon - not a sprint.
  • Started week 2 yesterday. I was curious about the jump from 1 min to 90 seconds so at the of W1D3 I thought "how long can I actually run for?" It may have been daft but I went for it. I ran for over 2 minutes and stopped, not because I was done in, but I thought I'd ruin myself for the rest of my workout. So at the end of…
  • This was an odd thread. When I was a student I'd go out every Thursday through Sunday. I'd get bladdered every night. Neither myself nor any of my friends have drinking problems. in fact I rarely drink at all now. Go out. Enjoy yourself. You're only young once.
  • 175lb, 3 45 minute runs per week, sad about loose skin, happy about everything else.
  • Have a think about the blockers that are stopping you from continuing. Is it laziness? Is it fear? Do you need more support (weightloss groups for instance)? When you identify these you build strategies to get over them. Do you have a clearly defined goal? Target weight, fitness goals and lifestyle goals have helped me. I…
  • I love Alpro yoghurt (less sugar than ordinary Greek yoghurt, I'm a T2 diabetes person). I have 200g of that with either a tea spoon of honey or 100g of fresh pineapple. I eat it with the smallest teaspoon I have to make sure I don't inhale it :) The other thing I've found is that boredom causes snacking for me.
  • Every day, log once a week wether I've been lighter at some point in the week or not. I do mine after using the loo and before anything else.
  • 'Scuse the language but 'really' just didn't do you justice.
  • These are keeping me going. Thanks everyone for sharing, you are all truly inspiring and motivating. And more importantly you all look f@#king tremendous.
  • thanks everyone for the kind words and advice. For some reason I am not getting notifications of replies. Sorry if it seems I am being ungrateful.
  • I no longer make an involuntary noise when I get up from a sitting position. I didn't realise I was doing it until my daughter pointed it out. Started C25K - making sure I have the rest days as per the advice, but I was feeling really antsy so I had to go and do something - the garage has never been tidier.
  • I've read that McD's fries contain 14 ingredients, one of which is sugar.
  • Thats excellent - well done. On a side note, I've been reading these success stories for motivation/inspiration and they really do help, but I'm amazed at how long people keep clothes for! I've got t-shirts that I've had for around 7 or 8 years, but they have been worn all that time, but 30 years! That's incredible.
  • I've bought myself an apple watch that tracks steps, launches MyMyRun and reminds me every hour to get up (if I've been dormant for that hour!) - its a challenge every day to meet that 10k steps but the watch is a godsend. --- I also bought myself a Soup Maker - It is sensational. Throw in the raw ingredients, add…
  • my thoughts exactly. Why can't you have both! I've lost 36lb so far and have had to buy new clothes. But as a treat I bought myself an Asics running top that is size XL. I essentially look like a deformed sausage in it at the moment but my reward for the next 3 to 4 weeks of weighing food, planning meals, snacks, walking 3…
  • Hi UK based. Liverpool.
  • Can you help a newbie out? What does IIFYM mean?
  • is it boredom. I find that keeping myself busy between 6 and 9 - either exercise (prep, walk, shower) and/or doing jobs around the house keeps me going for those 2 hours. I pre log my snacks so I know what I can have and then i turn the telly off, get my ipad out and do sudoku. I do that for an hour and then off to bed. My…
  • Wow. Just looked up bodyweight rows (being a newbie) and I don't think there is anything in my home strong enough to take my weight, let alone me be strong enough to do one. However I may, no I will come back in six months having achieved this goal.
  • Thanks for the advice. sorry I was a bit slow to respond, work, sleep etc. getting in the way. It turns out that I can do squats. Not many, but it's a start. I just have to keep trying things because in my mind I still think my weight is preventing me from doing a lot of stuff.
  • My NSV is today I was feeling un-motivated to do any exercise or weights. Getting annoyed with myself in work, wanting to hit Maccies on the way home. Got home, helped my little one with her homework and thought "Sod this" where's my to-do list. Worked my way through the to-do list, had a big steak and slimming world chips…
  • The slimming world chips are tremendous. Low fat and tasty as hell. it's good if you need the support network to help with motivation but otherwise I wouldn't bother. I've found this community On MFP more inspiring and helpful.
  • You only need to worry about the processed sugars. Sugar from fruit & veg eaten in it's raw state is generally ok because it still contains fibre, which will take the body longer to convert into energy. It's when you blend the fruit (either into smoothies or into juice) that the sugar becomes an issue. The fibre is pretty…

  • 2 things; 1) you're not supposed to talk about it 2) you're not supposed to talk about it
  • The other thing to consider is that it appears you're living to work rather than working to live. 11-12 hour days are simply not sustainable and in the long term your health (both physical and mental) will suffer. You have to ask yourself - Is this the right role for me? If it's a short term solution to money problems, I…
