If that's your one vice, go for it. If I drink pop, it's always regular. I'm a bit wary of sweetners. In addition to the article mentioned, I have a girlfriend who had abnormal pap cultures which were traced back to her diet pop consumption. Abnormal cells in your body because of diet? No thanks! The key is to include it…

Banks, you're great. You are one of those people who says what everyone else is thinking! I too ran cc & track in college before gaining weight/pregnancy/life. When I went to the OB last year, he actually told me I shouldn't run because of my weight. O.k. so I was at my highest weight, but sill under 200. Knowing that…

Don't forget to cross train. As your body adapts to the new demands being placed on it, you will burn fewer calories for the same exercise because you become more efficient. Mix things up to keep your body guessing and the metabolic fires raging!

Did an hour in the weight room and 30 min on the track. It's sunny and almost 60 degrees right now, more snow in the forecast tomorrow, so I had to get out and run. Well, I finally did it. After two months of no change, I have lost a couple pounds this week. I weighed 155 this morning!!!! My goal is still to break 150 for…

The one I use is a cheapy. If I get behind the belt, when my foot hits, the belt slips forward. It feels like when you lose your footing on ice. My heart skips a beat and I reach for the handles so I don't face-plant! I think I need to get on a better treadmill!

Wow, it's 1:30am and I'm just making it here. Today was my first day of spring break/time off. I have been so productive and still have 3 days off! Mary, thanks for the dress vote & support. I don't want people to misunderstand me; unfotunately pageants have a stereotype of being all beauty and no brains. Not this…

No mustering necessary; you're already here!

Try eating something small before your workout if you crash mid-workout. Some simple carb/sugar like fruit or 1/2 bagel. Avoid high protein prior to, but everyone is right, it is crucial after. When you're feeling great for that first 30-60 min, the protein has time to digest and get into your system so that you don't…

You have to combine the two. Try making notecards for studying. A key word on the front, and then definition or other info you need to memorize on the back. These stack easily on the equipment and you can stare at each one until blue in the face if necessary. It takes two seconds to flip to the back or a new card. I…

If you are only pulling your upper arm up with the elbow still bent toward the ground then that is a bent over row not triceps. If you are keeping your arm straigth the whole time, it is shoulder extension (works more combination of muscles: posterior deltoid, less tricep, rotator cuff for stabilization, etc.) Kickbacks or…

60 min aerobic/resistance, 30 min step aerobics I am off until Sunday! I may finally get caught up on things for our business & around the house before going back to work on Sunday. Hmm, maybe I can even get the rest of the semester ready for my classes. I would love to get tests & final exams written so I'm not stressing…

What a problem to have; thinking you look better than you do! I have the same perception; whether it's mental of physical, I don't feel as big as I am. My little me is trapped inside this body dying to get out! At least we aren't anorexic and think we look obese! I like my warped perception thank you very much!…

Happy 21st Birthday Songbyrd! 3/16, pisces through and through. Sorta creeped out the first time I read the description of the sign! Busting my butt since October and am halfway there!

Getting your range of motion is critical. You can't strengthen until you have increased this or else you will simply be really strong in the limited range you have. Stretching: Internal rotation- bend your elbow at you hip and keep the upper arm glued next to your body. stand with your lower arm/wrist/hand against a door…

Also keep in mind that cardio is how you burn the majority of your calories, so are you willing to go on a calorie restriction to make up the difference?

Over an hour in the weight room with my husband (yes, I finally got him on board) and then we hit the track for an easy run. College is on spring break this week and I dont' have to travel with my teams so I get a huge break = lots of time to workout! Just the boost I need! Will post my March progress picture later,…

Yipee, sunshine :glasses: ! It's in the 50s so I threw on some shorts & a t-shirt and went for a run. Not very long, but I haven't been able to do this particular route without stopping in a few years. It's basically three miles of constant hills. I was a bit off my 10min pace, but at least I finished! Even with a car…

One word for you. Karma She'll get hers!

What an exhausting day! I had to cover a lacrosse match off the mountain, so I got to leave the snow behind and wear shorts in the 60 degree weather near Charlotte. Only problem is my translucent skin hasn't seen the sun in months and I am a little toasted. Oh well, it was sooooo good to feel the sun on my skin! Anyways, I…

Stretch marks are here to stay. I gained 40lbs with my son and lost 20 by the time I left the hospital!! I had a natural delivery and felt every inch of his 13inch head! :noway: I carried my son REALLY low; had people telling me I was going to deliver soon 2 months too early! I have stretch marks from my upper thighs up to…

Hang in there Niccole, maybe when you get all the meds balanced you'll drop a big chunck at once! Stay optimistic, you are awesome and a pillar of strength to us all! Did my 60 min aerobics; upped my weights yesterday and am actually sore today  so the resistance part of the aerobics kicked my butt. All good though. I…

do a lot for the back as well. The core is all attached and if you already have back problems, you need focus here anyways. prone supermans- lay on your stomach and lift legs & arms about 6 inches off ground; hold 10-15 sec. straight leg lifts- lay on you back, knees bent and focus on your hips/low back staying flat on the…

I always wanted a bigger chest! I went from a small B to a full D in about 6 months when I had my son, stretch marks and all. OUCH! I have been stuck at a full C ever since and can't wait to drop back down to a full B. I appreciate the opportunity to "experience" a larger chest and totally understand now! God love you who…

WOW! You all are amazing :flowerforyou: What a great example you are setting; keep raising the bar! Hour in the weight room this morning, hour on gazelle (single digits here all day too so I am dying to get outside). My next big sacrifice is all pastas beginning on Saturday, so I pigged out on mac & cheese with my son…

Thanks Banks & icandoit for being so motivated to educate others! You are examples of why this site is successful. You're awesome :drinker:

Sounds like a sinus headache (you're not imagining it) and anything in your sinuses means your going to feel out of whack. The tube that drains from your ear to your throat (eustachian tube) may also be plugged up causing inner ear pressure & adding to the headaches. Linda is right on with the humidifing. Put a cool mist…

Tennis elbow and little leaugers elbow are simply tendonitis. Ice and anti-inflammatory meds (ibuprofen or alleve) are the most common treatment. Try extending your arm and then pulling your wrist & fingers as far back as they will go in both directions; hold the stretch. Then do with the elbow bent. Figure out which way…

I've heard a lot of good things about how intense tae bo is and would like to try it... what would you guys recommend? I'm in pretty good cardio shape; can run an hour comfortably and need something to push me to the next level. I don't want to waste money on the wrong version! Thanks in advance for the help! Arianne…

60 min on gazelle to finish off an awesome day; plus I am still cleaning and will probably being doing that all morning with the snow totals climbing!

Wooo hooo! lifting day #1 done! Just spent over an hour and a half in there; took my vitamin this morning and am probably on glass 5 or 6 of water. (I shouldn't mention the huge cheesburger I just ate for lunch); still have to do my cardio, but that will be tonight when hubby & son are in bed. What a good day! We're…
