  • I love exploring Charleston and the surrounding Low Country. My husband has to visit MUSC every three months, so any tasty restaurants you'd like to share or off the beaten path places to explore would be appreciated!
  • A siren began to wail, letting out one long, high pitched note followed by three short bursts. The general snapped his head up, cocked to one side, intently listening to the siren. He sniffed the air, almost like a dog sniffs for the scent of his prey when he’s on the hunt. He stood, glaring at James, and strode over to…
  • So I am SUPER swamped at work these last two days but I hope I will be able to get back on board and contribute something soon. Sometimes when you write all day at work (like a BOSS these last two days) your mind can't wrap around the awesomeness that is this story. You guys are AAAAAAWWWWWEEEESSSSOOOMMMEEEE!…
  • From what he could tell, James figured he was in the back of a utility van, like the ones the phone or power companies use. His thoughts were slow, detached. He knew he’d been drugged and was most likely why he couldn’t collect his thoughts. “What a difference 24 hours makes,” he mumbled to himself. “Boy, you ain’t…
  • Hi all, I am fairly familiar now with MFP but no so much with the forums. I've joined a few, but at first found the threads hard to follow. Now that I have a couple under my belt, I'm branching. I figure you can never have enough support. I'm a nurse by trade and a writer at heart. I discovered writing in my teens,…
  • Football: Pats and Cowboys Baseball: Braves and BoSox College: Go '*kitten*!! Not really into any other kind.
  • Anyone here, feel free to add me as a friend. I need all the moral support I can muster. :)
  • I think it gets harder too. I'm 46, and before I turned 40 I could lose weight in a flash...of course, I eventually gained it all back and then some. Lesson learned this time around; I'm doing it the right way but it's a little rougher on the back and knees this time around. My daughter (the exercise queen) says I will…
  • I do stretch. Consistently, pre walk, and I also ice them post walk, and take Motrin or Advil. This is the advice my physio gave me, but warned me it would take a long time because my ankles were "really weak". I guess I'm just inpatient.
  • Me too. I am told my shin splints will gradually go away as my lower leg muscles get stronger, but I can't walk past 3.5 on the treadmill or try running without great pain. I would love to be able to run, though. It would make my hate of cardio less, I think.
  • Feel free to add me, love to meet new friends and encourage one another along this new journey called "lifestyle modification". :) I've been on MFP since October, and have shed close to 36 pounds. It definitely works!
  • Cavegirl, what is the concept of daily intermittent fasting? I'm intrigued....
  • oorah! My son is a Marine and I love to work out to "The Warrior Song". It's a great motivator!!!
  • <from South Carolina. But love, love, love the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains in your home state. We've camped and vacationed all over those mountains many times. Our favorite place to visit, though, is Cataloochee Valley. We go every year and are always enchanted.
  • I'm from South Carolina; home of "smiling faces, beautiful places". I live in the Pee Dee area of the state (names after a local Native American tribe); equidistant from Myrtle Beach and Columbia. Looking forward to new friends from all over, so feel free to "friend request" me.
  • I know Green Sea! I'm from a small town also. I grew up in Hemingway, SC, and we were high school sports rivals! :)
  • Johnsonville, SC....lower end of Florence county. An hour from the Redneck Riviera of Myrtle Beach, two from the Holy City of Charleston, and three from the beautiful Greenville. Would love to "friend" fellow Carolinians! Need all the support I can muster. :)
  • Hi all! A small town girl from the lower end of Florence county who lives in the country and commutes to the city. I've lived in SC all my life and love to take day trips all over the state. I also love to travel outside the state and have also gone on a few medical mission trips out of the country. My husband has been…
  • Many, many reasons, I suppose. I grew up in a home where food that "sticks to yer ribs" was a staple at every meal. I grew up in the south, where food without butter, sugar, and lard was unheard of. Our food, while extremely fattening, was rationed because there were many mouth to feed. I guess subconsciously, this…
  • I'll friend you! I've got more than a few to lose myself. :)
