Agreed; I log everything I eat. If not, you're "cheating" yourself. :)

Great work!! :)

Excellent read Joe. I am using the assisted machine so I guess from your post I should NOT be. ;o) I will search out the appropriate machine at the gym and get on this.

Q, I don't even know what the smith machine is!! :blushing: LOL I do use the Lat/Dip machine (that's what I call it) on days that I lift (M,W,F). I do 3 sets of 10 reps using the inside grip and outside and then do tris. My husband told me they will help to strengthen my upper back so I go w/what he tells me. I don't think…

You should never eat less than your BMR. So if your BMR is 1350 and you burn 800, your daily calories consumed for the day would be far too low (550). In the case that you set your goal to your BMR is the issue. You should also calculate your TDEE and if you want to lose weight be under that number but over the 1350.…

You women rock! I'm still hangin'. At present: Squat 70# OHP 60# stalled CP 65# yeah...finally Row 60# DL 125# which I then roared! ;o) LOL Keep lifting and fueling the machine. :)

You can definitely add the workouts and to track calories, I would highly recommend a heart rate monitor. I have a Polar FT4 and I love it.

As some of the others mentioned, weight loss isn't about starving yourself but about good food choices and your activity level. Check out EM2WL, Eat More to Weigh Less. This group on MFP is so helpful in providing websites, etc to help you calculate your TDEE, etc. Not eating enough can be counterproductive. Good Luck! :)

So, it's June!! May started off with a bang and then I hit a wall and deloaded on some to improve my form and on others I'm stalled but holding the form. Here are the stats: Squats: 60 lbs (was up to 80) Bench: 60 lbs (stalled) Row: 55 lbs (was up to 70) OHP: 55 lbs (stalled) Deadlift: 115 lbs It seems pathetic compared to…

I do the bike for 15 mins as a warm up before SLs, which I do M, W,F. On Tues, Th, I do zumba or kickboxing for an hr. On Sat it's a bootcamp class which is HIIT, strength & cardio. Sun is my day off.

Just do it! Yep, it worked for Nike and it's all there is. Be focused; set the alarm for 5 a.m. Shut it down and the feet hit the ground running. :) Some mornings are easier than others, especially if a late nite before or Mondays can be hard but I know what I feel like when it's done....Priceless! :) Now go get 'em!

Check out the MFP group EM2LW, Eat More to Lose Weight. Hope you find it helpful! :)

Polar F7 and definitely. :)

Definitely burpees....love to hate them!

Thanks for a great post, Joe! I must admit I'm frustrated at the moment. I'm stalled at weight (doing StrongLifts 5x5) and when I'm squatting the upper part of my quad where it meets your groin area hurts on one of my legs and I'm thinking maybe I do need a week of rest but am petrified I'll gain weight!! :(

Hi MFPs, I just started weightlifting last nite and was wondering how do I account for calories?

Those are some amazing results for one month. I just joined a group here on MFP, the New Lifting for Women. Hoping to get some pointers to tone up. :) Great job.

Hi. I'm 41 yrs old and 5'0'" and weigh 123 lbs. My goal is to get down to 118, which is my prebaby weight. I was down to 115 at one point but eating like a bird. I want to be healthy and exercise but not deprive myself. My physician said my BMI is currently in the normal range but at the high end. Exercise is my primary…

I'm sure every gym instructor is different, but I love bootcamp. Exactly as the others explained, strength trainging with bursts of cardio. It's killer. My only wish is my gym offered the class more than one day a week.
