The last few days I have really been trying to stay at 1410 calories...typically I can eat more because I workout but since I'm taking a break from the gym after straining my back I don't have room for much error. I have found that drinking tons of water helps. Lots and lots of water!!! At the very least a glass per hour.

I just saw Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on Rachel Ray show (I was in the emergency waiting room, I had no choice!) and he said that your body needs rest in order to be its most efficient. He's a pretty in-shape dude so he knows what he's talking about. While I think it's good to be physically active everyday (walking,…

70 some pounds lost...I'll take your advice!!!!

Let us know how it goes! I agree with another that stated if you plan to have drinks, know that your day needs to accommodate those extra calories.

I have used this site on and off for a while. I am finally committed to logging everyday. It has been extremely helpful for me to log my food and drink every single day. You start to see what you can eliminate and what is best for you to eat. Everyone here is pulling for you, so don't give up!!!

My gyno is like my therapist, it's such a personal relationship it HAS to be better than that. I demand you get a new doctor immediately and forget about this insensitive hack.

that's so true. people might think it's boring but whenever there's fruit around, already cut up and ready to munch, everyone goes for it.

I order liquor on the rocks with lots of lime (usually patron). It eliminates the calories that come with the mixer and you get buzzed faster anyway. I'll sip on my drink while everyone else goes through 2-3 beers.

Girl, I am with you on this one. It is really tough. My boyfriend also does not care what he eats or when he eats it. BUT, you really need to have a conversation with your man about what you need from him to keep up with your own plan. I asked a trainer on the site for some advice about my weekend eating, because I was…

Tarragon is a very good seasoning for fish like salmon and talapia. There should be a broiler function on your oven. Just make sure to watch it closely because it can burn quickly. I also stick to the outsides of the stores, that is good advice. I agree with the poster that said don't go overboard on the fruits and veggies…

My advice is that if you are going to try it you should do a lot of research. I tried dexatrim and it didn't work for me. sort of related - it's disappointing to see the Kardashian sister's endorsing SlimQuick. They do not look like that because of supplements. Celebrities eat strictly and have personal trainers. Just…

Rainbow Light is the brand I get...glad to know they are recommended by someone who has experience

This might sound strange but I take prenatal vitamins and I'm not pregnant or plan to become pregnant. I started taking them because I heard they were good for hair, skin and nails and when you compare the amounts of the different components there is a higher percentage in prenatal then a regular multi. I take organic,…

You're looking at a fellow snack junky. My biggest vice is potato chips (and if you give me dip to go with it, I'm off). This is a good place to go for motivation. Hopefully you'll like the message boards and blogs. If I feel like snacking when I'm not hungry (usually happens while watching TV), I pull this site up on my…

If they have them at your local sports store, I would give them a whirl...never hurts to try. Also, they are less expensive than most of the good running shoes (I got mine for about $75 at City Sports and the last pair of Mizunos I bought were $125).
-
I jog in them, but I'm not a runner. If you look at some of the blogs/reviews on the web most people recommend that if you are a runner you should start out with a short distance and gradually work yourself up to your normal distance. The guy at the sports store seemed pretty bored with his job and after sizing me just…

Yes, I think you will definitely get some strong replies on this one! There are a lot of ingrained opinions on MFP and sometimes they come off as judgmental. I agree that the best way for all of us to "help" each other is to be supportive...and give each other great ideas without the shoving-down-the-throat aspect.

so there is no fridge at your work? my co worker has milk and cereal at work. I would say eat your granola bar and banana like you have been and then have some cereal when you get to work. That will probably be about 300 calories or so and will be a good start to your day. I have cereal at my house and usually a yogurt…

I was trying to look at your diary too  I'm with Arielle that maybe there is something that needs to be "tweaked" not having to do with calories. Sometimes if you eat too much salt you retain water...ie you can eat a whole jar of pickles which is only about 100 calories but you'll be consuming sodium that could be…

oh, okay, I was wondering what MIL meant :blushing: Well, the fact that she actually asked you for help is a pretty good start. I was under the impression you were were going to give her some unsolicited advice. Maybe you should encourage her to join MFP? Like everyone has said, diet alone can help her to lose weight and…

If you think your fiber gas is bad, just wait until you have gotten your healthy eating down (which you will!) and you indulge in some fast food: your farts will be crazy! and you'll wonder how in the world you put that in your body on a regular basis :) :) seriously though, you are talking about stuff. You are…

They are not filling enough for me. I am usually hungry soon after I have one so it doesn't work for me. I also don't really care for the taste of the meats (the chicken is too rubbery). But do what works for you! If they are helping you reach your goals then I say keep eating them.

I also eat late. Sometimes I don't have dinner until 8 or 9 o'clock. I also agree with the member that said a big breakfast and big lunch goes a long way. I also have a late afternoon snack. I workout at night so that's why I eat dinner so late.

sparkpeople.com has a pretty good calorie burn calculator. they have quite an extensive list of excersizes and you put your weight in too. I used it for aerobic kick boxing and it seemed to be accurate.

excellent advice. if you pick something you enjoy and can do often, you will do it. I love gym classes. I don't like working out alone, so i prefer to go to a class with a friend. Boxing classes are so fun and very effective. You can burn 500-900 calories in a 45 min - 1 hr class (depending on your weight). I was doing a…

I really hate to say this but I think your friend may not really be ready to lose the weight because that's an awful lot of excuses. I've never had a serious injury, so it could be a lack of empathy on my part. However, at my heaviest I was 247 (for the past two years I've been fluctuating between 198-212) and my back…

My birthday is on the 4th of July so I am with you all! I like the idea of drinking only once week, so I'm going to steal that goal :) drink alcohol only once per week go to the gym at least 4 times per week do an "outside activity" at least 2 times per week I won't use vacation as an excuse to over-eat when I go visit…

I am back on MFP for the THIRD time trying to kick my last 20-30 pounds. I fell into loving my favorite things too much...the hardest thing for me to give up are potatoes in the form of hash browns, chips and french fries. But I have learned to do better by using sweet potatoes as a substitute. My personality does not…
