  • Hi I have joined the group today. I started the Fast 800 last August with my husband. We both lost a lot of weight quite quickly - I lost about 20lbs and he lost over 30lbs. We stopped in December and put a few pounds back on. But have started again now. Not keeping to 800 calls but generally following the low carb rules…

  • I have the same issue. My husband works from home so cooks most days (I don't get back from the office until about 7 in the evening). I think the best way - its quite time consuming to start - is to take the recipe he uses, log all the ingredients and save on MFP. Then try and work out roughly how much I have eaten of the…
  • Well I recorded everything and I did the walk. I didn't do the 2 full glasses of water ! So JFT Jan 7th I will be repeating the same goals so I can get in the habit of recording and walking (not at the same time !) and I have already done over a glass of water today.
  • New to this thread. Been on and off MFP for years - and the only positive I have is that starting 2020 I am 2lbs under where I started 5 or 6 years ago !! But there have been many ups and downs in that time. I really like the idea of a daily committment - at the moment that's how long my will power lasts. So back to work…
  • I have just rejoined after a bit of a break - feel free to add me as a friend if you like.

  • Hi - I have just joined my local Slimming World Group - If anyone would like to add me as a friend on here please do so. I am determined to keep to this plan ! And need all the help I can get.
  • I am joining in. Have just started using my Fitbit so will track steps on that. Does anyone want to add me as a friend either on here or on Fitbit.... Karen@peakassistance.com
  • I lost a lot a while back and have just rejoined. The key thing is to keep logging on every day and list everything you eat. Make it a a regular part of your day and make a point of logging on even if you know you havent been good ! Last time I had a really helpful "friend" on here who really helped me. She reached her…
  • I am in the UK. Down south near Brighton. Feel free to add me too.
  • You have said you have dropped the alcohol from your nights out but what have you replaced that with ? I am sure you know anyway but sometimes people replace alcohol with things like fruit juices because they are "healthy" but they are actually probably higher in calories than the alcohol they are replacing.
  • I assume you are buying beers in cans or bottles ? Is there any way you can get a smaller glass - so a single bottle gives you 2 glasses - don't keep topping up the glass pour a glass and put the bottle back in the fridge. Don't refill until the first one has been finished - it will stretch each can or bottle out longer ?
  • I like MFP firstly because its free, secondly because with the apps and computer access I can log in from anywhere - phone, ipad, laptop at home, computer at work. Because I can log in frequently it is never too difficult to add in foods so I don't forget things. The more I log on the more I get motivated. Linking to my…
  • Put it behind you. Get back to your normal routine as quickly as possible and it will even itself out. I would not cut down to try and make up for it - you will feel over hungry and be tempted to binge again. Oh and don't weigh yourself for a couple of days. I went out for dinner on Sunday and was quite good but had quite…
  • I think you need to go back to basics and make sure that for a week or two you weigh and log everything. Your main meal in the evening (if I read it right) sounds quite heavy on calories. Could you bulk up on green veg and reduce the calories of that meal by say 200 and give yourself 200 extra cals for snacking during the…
  • Keep logging and your food on here every day, weigh everything - never guess portion sizes if you are just starting out its really easy to over/under estimate. Keep a note of everything milk in tea and coffee, that one biscuit at the office whatever - list everything. You will also then start to see patterns of where you…
  • Hi - thanks for the kind reply and encouragement! This will be my very next purchase, a food scale! I've set up MFP to give me a deficit of, I believe is 700 cal or more. I know some people will think that might be excessive, but my starting weight is rather high. I was actually thinking of not only cutting calories in the…
  • Keep logging in every day at least - or 3 or 4 times a day. Each time as well as logging your food and activity read some of the inspiring stories on here - they will help. With excercise don't worry about going out at the moment if your agrophobia is bad. Do you have stairs in your house. Walk up and down the stairs, or…
  • Happy to be added if you need any more friends - have been on here for a while but only started this new regime a week ago.
  • Yes me too. I have about 100 lb to lose. If I count the number of diets I have gone on over the years I have lost this much several times over but this time I am very determined to do this and keep the weight off. I am getting older and am getting concerned about the health problems and possible arthritis, hip replacements…
  • I am from England - down south near Brighton
  • Why not start with those health benefits why wouldn't you start as soon as possible
  • I am trying to start this this week - first fast day tomorrow. Good luck to you.
  • My husband and I watched this and we are both going to give it a go. We both need to lose weight but both love good food and cooking. The idea that 2 fasting days a week give us more freedom with food on the other days sounds attractive. And the health benefits seem to be amazing. We are planning to do ur fast days on a…
  • Think of your favorite meals and then see how they can be adapted to low carb. My family love spaghetti bolognaise - I have the meat sauce with cheese on top but serve it on some of those huge flat portobello mushrooms instead of pasta. Go on what do you really crave ? I bet between us we could come up with some ways to…
  • Hi. I am just starting on MFP and I am 55 years old and live in the UK. I am doing Atkins low carbs, and am trying to lose around 56 lbs. Started last week and have lost 6lbs so far. Look forward to meeting you all on line and getting some encouragement when the motivation starts to slip - 1 week in I am still motivated.…

  • Hi I am Karen. Lost weight on Atkins a few years ago but as usual it eventually came back. I started Atkins again in November and lost 15 lbs, Tried to be a bit careful over Christmas and managed to keep it off - only to put on 7lb in January as I thought I could "coast it". Started again last week. Lost 6lb so back up and…
