  • I lifted this morning! BACK - BB rows = 3x8x70; single arm inverted grip pulldowns = 3x8x35 each side, rack pulls 3x3x165, DB pullovers 3x12x20, DB shrugs 3x12x27.5 Beeps, I can't quote the science Schuler discusses, but one of the primary things I took from it was that as we lose weight, because we lose weight, our bodies…
  • I love hearing why everyone lifts! So cool, such a variety of reasons. I lift because of all of your reasons. I started lifting because I have osteopenia and now some arthritis and I refuse absolutely refuse to be an hunched over old lady unable to walk or lift things up. But I lift too because I love the way I feel when I…
  • @manic4titans that just stinks but better now than in summer. @Beeps2011 I'm impressed! I'll be happy to see #100 hip thrusts! @DawnEmbers your consistency is inspiring! Yesterday I didn't get to the gym - I actually left early to get to work early and was foiled every step of the way - it was the commute from hell! And I…
  • Nicely done DouMc!! And you too Dawn, such consistency! I lifted this morning. Back today, so did single arm bb rows, inverted pull downs, rack pulls, and DB pullovers. I did 165x1 on the rack pulls, then 155 x1 then 3 sets of 135x6, not my best by any means but not too shabby for a comeback. Mary and Beeps, I've been in…
  • Your pictures/transformation are amazing Dawn! Thank you, that's some serious motivation there! Yesterday I did chest/shoulders and some back. I did better than expected - my upper body is frustratingly stubborn, but I also have not been consistent in training. Food was good! Rest day and today I am struggling to find the…
  • Beeps, I honestly don't know how far back I was. LOL oh well! I sending you good juju for a perfect job! My husband got laid off in August but with a retention package and severance package that paid him up thru the middle of October. He's frustrated because like you, Beeps, he's a really smart guy and really knows his…
  • Ok, so I've read back a couple of pages. Beeps, what is V-day? Dawn, you have some impressive numbers there, I'm especially impressed with your #80 OHP back a couple of days. Julie, new book? I'm curious.
  • <3 I found you again! Thank you Mary and Beeps, thank you for asking why, for showing me how to get here again! After the interface changed, all my groups disappeared. I feel like a beginner again! I have been really struggling. I have put on 8 pounds this year, I have been inconsistent at the gym especially recently, as I…
  • Actually if you eat at a calorie deficit you CAN eat anything you want. Will it be healthy weight loss? Probably not but you can lose weight eating crap.
  • This! OMG I can't tell you how many times I do this!
  • When you say you can't what do you mean exactly? Awkwardness doesn't translate to can't. If you can't squat with the barbell, use dumbells - try goblet squats and build up your weight slowly. Box squats can help you as well. I think a trainer is always helpful if you're new to lifting and unsure of your form.

  • congrats! 10 is a big jump! Have you tried free weights yet? I encourage you to!
  • Jamie, I'm starting tomorrow. I've been a low carb eater for many years, but fell off the bandwagon recently. I have never done Whole30, and I've never gone dairy free, but I'm going to give this my best!
  • Donna, I too want the weight to melt off like it did when I was 25. At 63, I'm doing it differently. I'm eating a healthy amount of good calories and increasing physical activity. It's a slow process, and I've given up out of frustration and gained back some. It's hard to stick with it. I have to remind myself that I'm not…
  • Good morning everyone! I did so so this past week. Exercise was good but I so struggle with the food thing especially in the eveing. So my commitment is: 1. Gym 4x this week (M, T, Th, Fr) 2. Log honestly, each day! 3. No food after dinner 4. Eat with intention and awareness, not unconsciously! Thanks for being here! Let's…
  • I'm joining in! I am 20 years sober and use Just for Today in my recovery. Hell I should have thought of this for my eating issues too!! Just for today: 1. LOG honestly 2. EAT consciously 3. Take the long way to work 4. Go to the gym 5. Stay away from sugar! Thank you!
  • First, thank you for this! I so need to be accountable everyday! 1. LOG everything honestly! 2. EAT consciously, and only when I'm hungry 3. WORKOUT 4x/week 4. STAY off the scale!
  • Ok, so I have fallen off the bandwagon about 10 times since I posted, but I'm here with new resolve. I haven't been to the gym since it got really cold, I was away for part of it, but then kind of abdicated my responsibility to myself. I am angry that I'm right back in the place I started and feel crappy that I let myself…
  • I am so very sorry for your loss. I agree with the others. You are grieving and you need to give yourself permission to simply take care of yourself. I hope you have family and friends who can support you and I hope you reach out to them, and to us. We can be a strong cyber-shoulder for you right now. Bless you <3
  • I'll vote for whole, unprocessed foods. It's much better for you than processed and you can be way more accurate with cals and macros. I know, it doesn't fit everyone's lifestyle. It doesn't even fit my lifestyle and I use whole foods most of the time.
  • Congrats! Your dedication and hard work paid off in spades!! Enjoy it all!
  • I'm hoping someone is still here. I'm just reading the book right now, and hope to finish enough of it to start next week. Anyone? B)
  • This group is silent. I was hoping to see some recent activity. I am reading the book, would love to hear others take on this program! I'm 62, I've done NROL4W and learned a lot, gained muscle, confidence but had to work away from my home for 3 months, with time only for some very minimal exercise, and NO heavy weights.…
  • sorry all foods are not "healthy" no matter how they are eaten. Generalizing like that gets people into trouble.
  • Thanks for the welcomes ladies! You have no idea how much I missed you all! I felt all alone up there. So we lost the trial - the jury was totally confused by the Judge's directions - hell the Judge was totally confused!! We'll appeal. Not much else is new - we worked 15-18 hr days so I really didn't have any workout time…
  • YEA!!!! I'm home from trial!!! Booo... I put on 7 pounds! Yea!!! I worked out Saturday morning and went again this morning!! Booo.... I've lost a bunch of strength!!! :'( I know I'll get it back and lose the weight too. Probably just in time to start the next trial in January!! I haven't read back and I probably won't get…
  • So I'm not sure if I like this new layout or not. I kept waiting for "my discussions" to be populated! :\ dna CONGRATS!! Finishing is such an awesome feeling isn't it? SNB, it might be old and they might promote a newer "better" process or exercise or whatever, the NROL4W is no joke - you WILL get strong doing it! Remember…
  • Hell yea BOOM!! and BOOM again, Beeps!! Rock that sexy dress woman!
  • Hey everyone, I'm back from vacation and tada, didn't put on a single ounce, actually dropped 1.5 from the last weigh in before we left. I wish I had better news about my shoulder but no, it's still achy and grumpy. I haven't gone back to PT yet, and probably won't until after the trial, nor will I be lifting much either.…
