You're where you would be if your goal was 1500 calories, assuming your goal includes no exercise. If you don't eat them back, you're where you would be if your goal was 1000 calories and you did eat them back. Everyone wants to lose weight like yesterday, but trying to lose too aggressively is hard on your body and your…

After dealing with two year olds all day, then dealing with getting their parents to pick them up on time, part of the problem could be that you just need time alone, with no one bugging you. They gym might work out for you if you've got headphones on and no one knows you, so you can work out in your own little bubble. You…

And complete honesty. Your phone won't explode if your calories are over for the day. But you'll be less frustrated in the long run, because at least you'll understand what is going on.

Everyone here has an opinion, but very few are experts. So it means nothing that they disagree with each other.

If not having burritos would be a huge sacrifice, then a program that doesn't include them is doomed to failure. You have to eat what you want. You just can't eat as much or as often. One of those burritos is too much for one sitting once you're used to eating smaller portions. I'd find a friend and split one.

I wouldn't skip any days. Don't take the attitude that logging is an unpleasant chore. It's what's going to get the job done for you. Unless you're very obese, the amount you're eating is only a little more than what you need to eat. If you don't measure, there's no way you'll reduce the right amount without overshooting,…

I frankly don't worry about macros. I make sure I get enough protein, vitamins and minerals. I eat less starch than I prefer, just because it's hard to keep my calories under my goal if I eat breads and pasta. My fat may be only 3 grams a day. Your body needs some fat, but you really don't need much, and the fat you get…

Put on some music at work and get the two year olds dancing with you. You get paid to do cardio, and you'll teach them to be healthy too.

Look at the hairs in your brush or drain. See if they have roots attached. If not, your hair is damaged and breaking, and the straightening is the problem. If they have roots, they are just going through their natural cycle, and you've reached the balance between old hairs falling out and new ones growing in. Your hair…

I don't know your daughter's motivation for becoming a vegetarian. There is a possibility she sees it as a way to lose weight. If so, then she may be doing other things to lose weight. 9 is kind of young for bulimia, but I don't think it's unheard of. If she's using ex-lax or correctol, you can tell by putting a few drops…

I hate driving. I would never work out if I had to go to a gym. I have a treadmill at home. I use it to allow me to eat more. I like eating more. It's a pretty strong motivation.

Get a smart phone and make the process of logging into playing with your toy.

I didn't have success by cutting anything in particular. I had success by precise logging. It sounds like you're eating healthy food. You're probably eating a hundred calories more than you need every day. It's too small to even notice. Once you're logging and measuring, you'll lose the weight without even feeling like…

The problem with freezing them is that thin mints taste so good frozen they are even more of a temptation.

You need less calories, but the same amount of most other nutrients. You aren't allowed as many "empty" calories. So if you go to 1000 calories, it has to be a very strictly proportioned diet to get all the proper nutrients. It's just hard to do if you're not a nutritionist. Going for more calories and making it up with…

You have to undereat 3500 calories to lose a pound of fat. But five pounds of water can come off just by finishing your period or eating less salt. I know a doctor who had a patient who lost 80 lbs in 2 days just by laying in bed, because his legs were so swollen. So the scale could easily be right, but it doesn't matter…

Your logs show you are under your goals for protein almost every day. I suspect you're deficient in a lot of nutrients, but I haven't done the math. Don't worry about the calories until you make sure you have met your most basic nutritional requirements. Calories are to fuel your body's chemical reactions, and if don't…

It's tough to deal with self image with all the pressure to diet. I was thin as a stick as a child, but my brothers teased me calling me fat, knowing it would upset me. My parents couldn't understand it. My kids fortunately don't have weight problems. But one strategy that is helpful with difficult topics is to ask them…

I weight every day, but I don't obsess over individual days' weights. I see how much my weight fluctuates from day to day due to salt/fluids, so I understand that you can't get too worried about a few pounds. The amount of water weight you gain or lose in a day is much greater than the amount of fat weight you lose in a…

They definitely need to put less thin mints in a plastic sleeve. One sleeve=one portion, right? ;) But it's easier for me to skip them now. Our new combined council went with the not-so-good bakery, which just isn't the same as the Little Brownie (Keebler) cookies.

If you exercise, you need calories. They have to come from somewhere. Your body does have a general schedule of priorities: The sugar already in your blood and entering from your digestive tract will be used immediately. Then comes glycogen stored in your liver (a starch your body builds from the carbs you eat). Burning…

Pre-pregnancy, I was 5-7 and 119 lbs., stable, with no effort to curtail intake. I didn't look like a crack addict. But my bone structure is definitely light; I got osteoporosis at a young age despite a very high intake of calcium.

If your clothes fit better, you know it's working. Getting squeezed into something that was too tight allowed you to pretend you were smaller than you really were. Plus your brain probably still tells you you look like you did when you were 20, so when you look in the mirror, all you can see is that you're bigger, and you…

My activity level appears to be higher than the "sedentary" I entered, so I always lose weight faster than predicted. I ignore it.

Everyone has different experiences. I stayed on the pill until menopause, because it made my skin clear and my cycles lighter. When I stopped, I lost 15 lbs without trying, though I had never associated the slow gain with the pills. But that was going from BC hormones to zero hormones, which isn't going to be the case for…

If you really don't know why you're gaining weight, the first thing is to understand what you're starting from. Only you can do that. Get a food scale and log everything. Go to the USDA website and calculate all your nutrients, not just the couple that are on food labels. You have to know what you are eating/drinking and…

This is the way you will eat the rest of your life, not a temporary diet. There is no rush. You ate over your goal one day. That means you will reach your goal a day later. That means you will be on maintenance a day less. No biggie. To actually GAIN weight, you have to be massively over your goal. Put in your current data…

I'm happy with my digital scale. It's a salton I think. The battery has been lasting forever. But it's important to know that lithium batteries can wear out sitting on the shelf before you even buy the product. They age, even if not used. The flat solid floor is essential. I have to slide mine around on the tile to find a…

I've been doing this since the end of October and am nearly at goal. I've been losing weight consistently, no plateaus. I have not been following a lot of the conventional wisdom people recommend -- I eat almost no fat, I drink almost no water (about 1500 ml of liquid in other forms daily), I don't give a **** about cardio…

It uses your smart phone's camera to scan the bar code. If you have an iPhone or Android, you can use it.
