^^This. I log it as P90X Plyometrics.

I have the Polar FT60 and the accessory Flowlink transmitter. Very user friendly. The Flowlink is a small dishlike device. You simply set your watch on it and it starts transmitting to the Polarpersonaltrainer website. Only takes a few seconds. Then all your workout data is stored on the site for review. I think the…

I just googled youtube underwater rugby and watched a clip. That was hardcore! I'm impressed. I see there is no rule against goaltending, but since the goalie can only hold his breath for so long I suppose it doesn't matter.

Pain is weakness leaving the body

This thread reminds me of a famous quote I saw posted online: "Wow, I really regret that workout!" - No one ever

Depends upon how you lift. If your weight training comes in the form of P90X or Crossfit (i.e. circuit training, max effort, little rest, alternating body parts) your HR will not spike, it will be sustained at a high number for the length of your workout. I do P90X. I wear a good HRM. My avg HR and calories burned are very…

Let's see...my name is Rich. In two weeks I will have finished P90X, but my intention is to repeat phase 3 for another 90 days. I started at the new year. My weight loss so far is 37 pounds (some of which occurred prior to the new year before starting P90X). I've lost 7 inches from the center of my waist and 5 inches from…

Holy cow girl! Your abs are amazing. Way to go!

Coffee and tea are fine. They will hydrate your body. Check out the latest research. All things in moderation. Sustainable lifestyle change. You will succeed if you keep two things in mind 1) You can do it and 2) It will take time. There are no shortcuts. Track your measurements. Check your BF% every once in awhile.

You step out of your post-workout shower and immediately start sweating again, requiring you to get back into the shower.

I have a little more than 2 weeks left in my first round of P90X. I plan on immediately rolling into another round. I've lost almost 40 pounds so far. I've been tracking BF% and taking measurements and I can testify you can gain muscle mass on a calorie deficit (if that is your goal). Weight training will at the very least…

^^This! I work with a guy that could probably have done 1000 situps before P90X. He said the first time he did Ab ripper X he could hardly get through it and was sore for days. I am in phase 3, which means I've been doing this for 2 1/2 months and I can almost do the entire routine without stopping.

Not true. Polar will tell you as your heart rate gets into the higher ranges you are burning a higher proportion of carbs for energy as opposed to fat. However, you are are burning a greater number of calories. The HRM will show a smaller percentage of those calories burned as fat calories, but odds are that the smaller…
HRM don't work for weight lifting.
Depends on how you are lifting. Circuit training, P90X, and the like will certainly elevate your heartrate and keep it elevated. A HRM is effective if you have an elevated heartrate. If you take long breaks between sets and your heartrate remains relatively low, a HRM is…

I would recommend if you have nothing valuable to add to a conversation...look for another conversation. To each his own.

Best option is heart rate monitor. I log under create your own exercise. I created separate exercises for each DVD. If no HR monitor 600 cals per workout is a reasonable average.

With my work and commute I am gone 14 hrs per day on work days. I work rotating shifts so sometimes I'm working nights, sometimes days, sometimes suffering "jet lag" as I swap between the two. I am going to graduate school which takes at least another 20 hrs per week. I have three children, including a little one. I am 7…

Just started week 5 of P90X. For those of you worried about whether or not you are in good enough shape...just do it. The trainers demonstrate multiple ways to do each exercise so you can tailor it to your fitness level. For instance, I do the pullups with my feet on a chair (providing just enough assistance to pull my…

Doesn't matter. If you prefer the men's look go for it. I think the Polar FT60 mens watch would look just fine on a woman.

I started yesterday (classic version - chest/back/abs). As a result I am very sore today and expect to extremely sore tomorrow. Plyometrics next. It's been awhile since I've done pushups and chinups.

You've mentioned the key factor (insulin) yet somehow reached the exact opposite conclusion than the one to which logic should have led you. Your body will burn fat because you are still consuming fewer calories than you are burning. By breaking these calories up into smaller more frequent meals you maintain your blood…

Depends on the individual. If eating frequent small meals prevents blood sugar peaks and valleys and keeps you from being hungry, you are less likely to binge or grab something less healthy out of convenience. Before I started grazing, I'd be starving when I got home from work. Then I'd eat more than I otherwise would. Now…

I just posted a response to similar questions posed on the 28th about the Polar FT60. Feel free to take a look at that post. Your max HR is a genetic thing. It is, as the name implies, the maximum HR your heart is capable of beating, so you physically cannot workout above your max HR (and you risk problems working out at…

I have the FT60. Feel free to msg me with any questions you have once it arrives. It is pretty user friendly. Read the user manual before you use it. When you set it up you'll enter your age, gender, height, weight, max HR, and VO2 max. These are used to more accurately estimate you calorie expenditure. There are several…

I graze/snack all day long. I never let myself get hungry. About every 2-3 hrs I'll have something small...a yogurt, a hand full of almonds, a piece of fruit, some cheese, a small meal. My total daily calories stay around 1280. I've lost almost 25 pounds over the holidays and my stomach has not so much as growled once. I…
