Someone made those jokes about me once. Little did they know they were true at the time :indifferent:

It will probably be easier on you if you increase your calories incrementally each week and 'work up' to the bulk. Taking it slow = much less opportunity for mental freakouts. Setting non-aesthetic goals during the bulk can help to motivate you, too...although I also have my first ever bikini stored away (as much in the…

Wish I'd known about this 2 months back-!

I'm partway through a bulk right now (done 2 months, aiming for 3 or 4 depending on my progress). Even having done this much, I'm kind of afraid of gaining further because I AM getting bigger and it's an uncomfortable feeling for me. However, I can see progress in my lifts and progress in the firmness of my body so I keep…

I'm 2 months into my bulk and loving the lifting, but not really the extra fat that comes with the muscle. Feel free to add me.
-
The reason people are often advised to avoid fat is not because it is directly stored as fat (it is typically used as fuel instead when in a caloric deficit) but because it is more calorie-dense than carbs or protein, with 9kcals per gram vs 4kcals per gram for the other 2 macros. However, if you're tracking your calories…

This happened to me. I started by measuring everything and then...whoosh, choc attack. I've found moderating myself much easier since I moved out to uni since I just don't keep 'junk food' which I am likely to binge on in the house, but at home in abundance of chocolate that all goes out of the window. At some point I…

You know you've been on MFP too long when the non-fitness related thought doesn't even occur to you. Kind of depends. I think I'd be upset if I ever exceeded a particular size (UK 12 would be my limit, possibly a 10 if I wasn't bulking) but I don't get hung up on squeezing into a particular size because different clothes…

Oh yes! If it was a SUDDEN pain during the exercise, it is more likely to be an injury. If it simply 'burned' a bit during the exercise and the soreness arose hours afterwards (usually next-day or more), this is likely to be DOMS.
-
You probably didn't pull them - it is likely something called DOMS i.e. delayed onset muscle soreness. Where your squats caused small tears in the tissue, you are probably experiencing inflammation as they heal and this is experienced as pain and a little bit of swelling. The bonus is, your muscles will generally heal up a…

I had the same thing - would listen to MichaelRobins' advice, and also the posters telling you to discuss it with your doctor. What might help now is to drink more of your calories as it helps you to increase your intake without feeling very full. It goes away with recovery as your stomach gets used to normal volumes of…

Bump. We don't have Wendy's here but this looks great

People go commando to the gym?!!?!?! Oh sweet mama NO. Surely it just means your workout clothes are even grubbier? I make sure the underwear I choose for workout days is breathable and comfortable but I wouldn't even CONSIDER going without them in any public place, especially one where I am sweating a lot.

Probably the stress rather than the binges that made you ill. Your immune system isn't quite as efficient when you are experiencing high levels of stress. Hope you feel better!

Going to the shops in pajamas is a truly liberating experience.
-
Never wear it other than perhaps a special occasion where I have someone to do it for me. I am too lazy and I also have the makeup skills of a 5-year-old boy. I suppose my skin is better this way.

Would...have... *hides*

this is the only bad bit, as you might not be getting adequate nutrition. Just try to meet your goal with (if possible) foods that give you a reasonable macronutrient balance. If you need to 'graze', that's fine, but don't be afraid of eating to goal/eating lunch for weight loss.

Sorry, did this actually just happen!?!?!?! EAT YOUR FOOD MAN. Don't let the Vitamix get the best of you.

Quorn is a really tasty vegetarian protein source (not vegan, it has egg to bind it) and it's basically just protein for a very reasonable caloric load. I'm not veggie but I love Quorn.

Oh, you darling. :blushing: Ye gods! You are crazy-strong, haha.

That's amazing! Sounds like a dream job. Well, this thread took an unexpected turn :noway: 52.6kg, as of yesterday. Or if you prefer, 1.16 cheetahs-! Desperately trying to add mass right now...

Very true. I can deadlift an ocelot + a clouded leopard but I could only overhead press a caracal or so. I like this because it motivates me to get into the bear range. Current goal is to squat my male best friend.

I'm from the UK, use kilos, just found this online. Plenty of converters to be found there too.

I use smaller plates.

Sorry, Crossfit, but... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKp7fBtj81c (don't have a gif :( )

Think I got mine from Superdrug? (assuming you're in the UK). Pots are pricey but last a looong time.
