  • Tzatziki! With pittas, lamb koftas, dip for veggies...
  • Hahaha, I love it. "As the smoke diffuses, it takes the toxins away with it!"
  • That said, these look like really good ways to spend rest days.
  • 6) Step one: Write 'tox' on a piece of paper Step two: put the piece of paper in the bin.
  • For me I didn't necessarily put more belly fat on than I would expect (although it is the place I tend to store most of my fat anyway) but I was VERY bloated a lot of the time. Thankfully that and digestive problems as well as the bulimia puffy face are well and truly gone.
  • winning stuff and being successful in general
  • It's made me more vein-y (it's really gross). My wrists and forearms are probably where I carry the least fat so I imagine that is why they show up there. For me it's after exercise and when I'm warm - BUT they're more visible than they used to be regardless.
  • I used to get this after cardio (I'm ginger and quite pale). I think it's to do with how close your capillaries are to the skin and also the skin tone? Mine actually lessened in severity as I worked out more and more - I still go quite red - but the effects are not as prolonged. Thinking this is maybe because I'm working…
  • Why is that?? You use glycogen/fat stores for energy in the deficit. In the surplus those stores are replenished. It balances out.
  • Lose more weight, then you'll look 'better' than them according to your demands. You've got four months, haven't you? Hop to it. It's unreasonable to expect them to lose weight for you. This is your wedding and your responsibility.
  • About 100, 200 as I got more confident. Can't remember how long since I went up to a bulk but we're talking months because I'm a scaredy-cat.
  • You have your complex and your simple carbs mixed up. Simple carbs = sugars...so that would be the banana. The wholewheat tortilla will be the complex carbs, and actually they're not digested 'more efficiently' but more SLOWLY so they release energy more slowly and supposedly stop you feeling hungry as quickly.
  • No. Ew. Lifting has made me a bit more vascular too and it really freaks me out to see them under my skin. I prefer guys on the skinny side, definitely not huge & muscular.
  • I know the feeling. Try DAILY goals. 'Today I will work out, I will eat 5 servings of fruit and veg, I will stay under my calorie goal'...etc. Or even weekly ones. Then you can tell yourself at the end of the day 'I am a success' rather than looking at the big picture (which will take a lot more time) and getting…
  • Small changes. If you have non-aesthetic goals it can both increase your confidence, and your body actually starts to fall into line too (just be patient, I know it's hard). I also know it's really difficult to practise this "self-love" business because it feels like the reality is that you ARE that awful, ugly person,…
  • Hey, it's okay. I don't really have friends/people I am close to either, have had very similar problems to yours in terms of body image (actually had an ED) but stuff is on the up for me now. :) It's really good that you have a therapist; I suggest that you do your utmost to be honest with them about the full extent of…
  • When I have trouble pushing the door open on my way out-! (especially after I've trained chest). Or when I have to grip the bannister when I head down the stairs as my legs feel a bit jelly-like.
  • Trail mix! Take a high-calorie snack with you. :)
  • How do you know you gained muscle? It's incredibly unlikely in a deficit. Your fat loss probably just revealed the muscle beneath it. Net 500kcals is still not good, because you need your net for your body's daily processes and other activity. If exercise takes up all that energy then there's little left for he rest of the…
  • People who have 'gone this route'... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypergymnasia ETA: no need for a "very strict diet". Do a moderate deficit and moderate exercise. It'll come off slower but your results will be more sustainable.
  • Yep, it bothers me quite a bit. I turn up in an enormous t-shirt most of the time so it shouldn't happen, really. (ETA: not that I feel I 'should' have to wear baggy clothing just to avoid unpleasant comments or attention. Especially since large cotton tshirts aren't especially comfortable in my poorly ventilated gym).
  • Recomposition is slower so I imagine OP is on a cut for quicker results.
  • Good gods! I saw the before photo first, got confused, thought you'd mixed up the labels...then saw the AFTER photo and was doubly amazed! Great work.
  • Ask strangers first if they don't seem too busy. If the trainer doesn't have a client and seems in a good mood, you could always ask if they'll quickly show you - there's a staff member at my gym who is a trainer but has shown me stuff in the past and checks up on me occasionally. :) Mostly I have learned that even if I am…
  • Can the people at your gym show you? I have no friends at all but the gym staff were pretty happy to teach me, and they'll likely be trained too. Even asking strangers to check your form, if you're confident enough. ETA: and YouTube is quite good if you want to learn the basics of form.
  • I also lift regularly & work quite hard for both the ice cream and frame. It hasn't always been like this. edit: If you think it's a 'bad message to send', why not back up your own point with some studies or suchlike? Otherwise your opinion is just as 'damaging'. Women over 40 should not be deprived of ice cream that they…
  • nice to meet you, in the past couple of weeks I've been eating McFlurries every day
  • Thanks very much! This is not so much an injury but a permanent problem with my hips that is starting to reveal itself as I progress. I think I'll ask my GP if there is a physio who is informed on heavy lifting that she can refer me to. I'm just worried that I'm not training properly or will cause myself an injury because…
